I had the unfortunate situation of being stranded somewhere with my car, where I could not turn the ignition key, unlock the steering wheel and therefore, could not start my vehicle. I really didn't know what to do, but I decided to take a chance with calling a locksmith. I googled '24/7 locksmiths' and found Smith's Lock & Safe in Fall River, MA. I called and spoke with the owner, David, who gave me a few suggestions to try, but, when he realized I was out alone and it was starting to get dark, he immediately told me he would come by and try to remedy the situation; he was there in no time at all and worked very diligently to get the key to work, but he realized my key was too worn and the ignition switch was seriously affected. Long story short, David and his worker, Mike, came back to my car in the morning, got it started by some mechanical miracle, drove it to the shop and rebuilt the ignition cylinder and made 2 high security keys by code. It was fixed by 1:30 pm! This surpassed my expectations and I was very pleased with the results. I am so glad I chose Smith's Lock & Safe! David Smith was professional, efficient and a wonderful problem solver. The price for the work done was extremely reasonable, especially considering all the work involved and the prompt response to my dilemma. I got the name of Smith's lock and key out of the phone book, and I really lucked out. Smith did a good job and solved my problem of weird people coming in and out of my apartment by installing a good deadbolt. Furthermore, he came to my aid right away. read more

My son and wife just purchased a home nearby. They wanted to change the locks immediately, however they currently live 45 minutes away and work. I offered to help them out and secure a mobile locksmith and meet him at the house. I called this morning and spoke to David. He was friendly, professional and listened to what I had to say. He made suggestions without overselling me, quoted me a good price AND was available for same day installation. He even worked around my schedule and gave me his personal cell phone that I interpreted as great customer service. I called David on his cell after my meeting and we agreed on a time. Mike, the installer arrived at the time we agreed upon. ( How often does that happen ?! ). First impression was : friendly, polite and someone I could trust. I showed him the four doors that required lock changes. I was impressed by his work ethic. He was clean, efficient, and thorough. He realigned a couple of locks and bored out another so the bolts extended properly. He showed me some things to be mindful of without pressure selling me. Although more work and another lockset were needed to complete the job; the bill was still under the quoted price !! I am impressed by the customer service from start to finish. Today (that was 8/21/2015) I brought in a museum-piece of a lock that no longer worked with the keys I had (which apparently were non-original). This made the repair more difficult, but Smith willingly spent the extra time, and by some sort of miracle made it like new and charged very reasonably.. A hint to newbie customers like me with the same problem: Have in mind whether you want to keep using the same keys, new keys, or don't care. It might make a difference in the degree of difficulty. Whether or not it's easy to rekey (replace the old key) by using a a new key-and-tumbler kit depends on whether your lock is still supported by the maker, and in my case the answer was a definite no. Do take your troubles to Smith. His claim that he answers the phone is correct, a rarity. And he has voice mail. I had to try eight different numbers before I reached any person or message taker, and luckily he was the one! read more
