I was in a mad rush trying to move my elderly mother from her house, which had become way too much for her to manage, into an assisted living facility after two weeks in the hospital. I had absolutely no idea who had keys to her house, so I called A Better Locksmith (Steven) to arrange new locks and keys on her front and back doors. He was extremely responsive, gave me a quote upfront we set a date and time which was within 48 hours which was the first available time I had, which he made himself available for. As it turned out, my schedule with my mom got messed up and I could not make the appointment. I took a chance and told Steven where they hide a key was and I asked him if he would just change the locks without supervision and leave the keys somewhere. I just had a good feeling and based on his reviews felt trust was worth the risk. Now I can tell you he did a great job- he was efficient, communicative, and reasonably priced and followed directions perfectly which would warrant the five star review alone - but there is one factor here, that absolutely blew me away I returned to her house. I had emptied three enormous jars of loose change into two Ziploc gallon bags and put them in a reusable Stop & Shop bag. When I left her house last time before the locks were changed, I had arms full of bags to load into the car when I left, the bag with the change was basically open at the top and sitting right at the back door where Stephan was working. It contained what I know now was $440 worth of change. That bag was there when he arrived, it was there while he worked, it was there when he left, and it was there when I returned. It would have been incredibly easy for him to remove it, and know nothing about it. The top of the handle bag was wide open and there is no way he wouldn't have seen what was in the bag. This is a situation where I can tell his mother (and father) did a good job raising their son. That is who you will be hiring to change your locks. CAN NOT RECOMMEND HIGHLY ENOUGH. I bought a 2011 used Nissan this past summer, but the key it came with wasn't cut to physically unlock the door. This wasn't an issue because new Nissans all use the key fob to unlock and start the car, but this morning when I went to leave for work in the middle of a snow storm, I came out to a dead battery. This company was right down the street and had a single 5 star review on Yelp so I gave them a call. The man I spoke with indicated they would be able to get to me in about 30 minutes and was there at almost the exact time he told me he would be. After attempting to unlock the door, the car is setup so that pulling the handle does not unlock it and there's no physical door lock switch. Luckily he was experienced enough to know that he could also take a quick trip back to the shop and obtain the shape of my key by using my VIN# and contacting Nissan. He was back in under a half hour with a key to unlock my car. What a life saver. They were prompt, completely met all of the expectations they had set for me, and priced VERY fairly in my opinion.
