Her bass player is amazing! He sounds like Brad Paisley! I have no musical talent so it really moved me how well he played the bass. The other artists played well too! The venue is fantastic. It was my first time here. Sportsman's Tavern bought the venue three or four years ago. It isn't a dive bar like Sportsman's Tavern though. It's much more intimate. It's classier too. I liked the way they had the tables set up. I loved the stage area too. There is a small bar area where you can order drinks. There was also a waitress coming around asking if we wanted drinks or food. They have a small menu, and the food sounded good, but I wasn't hungry. You can park on the street or in their small parking lot, which holds about 25/30 spots. You'll enter the venue via a dark door near the front parking spot. There is much more room inside, than how it looks from their lot. The lot was a bit hard to find. I ended up driving around the block and then I noticed it. I'd love to come back here and see another concert soon!

Best to get there early! - at 7:45, most tables were taken. By 8:30 the crowd was packed at the bar and there almost wasn't enough room to even stand (maybe it's not normally that busy?) - bathrooms were clean and spacious - staff were all friendly - i recommend buying your ticket online ahead of time. I had to go early to buy one at the door (when I called at 7, they said they expected it to sell out before 8) - it looks a little odd from the outside, but The Cave is definitely a cool spot to stop at if you like live music!

There is mostly standing room for the venue, with some tables on the main level and a small balcony level for tables. I think everything was still walk-up service at the bar for that night. I didn't get any food and only had water to drink (stay hydrated!), but it looked like a pretty expansive menu for drinks. I was a little wary about the immediate surrounding area, since the streets immediately around the venue were cobblestone. This made it kind of hard to walk, when it wasn't super well lit. I was also confused by the parking arrangement in the area, since it seemed like the garage had some access restriction and the parking around the backside of the building also had confusing signage. This is not a criticism of the business whatsoever, just an important note for the other aspects of your visit.

Amanda, the event coordinator, was amazing to work with from start to finish. She was incredibly helpful, met with us multiple times to make sure all the details were worked out, and went above and beyond to make our event exactly what we wanted. We loved that we were able to customize so much of the space and make it feel like our own. Amanda also worked closely with our wedding coordinator to handle setup, which made the entire process so easy for us. We were even able to borrow some of Iron Works'/Amanda's personal décor, which saved us money and the headache of having to purchase everything ourselves. She also helped us design an image for the video wall, which was such a cool feature to have displayed on the stage! The vibe of the venue was exactly what we were looking for. We wanted more of a fun wedding celebration/party rather than a traditional wedding reception, and Iron Works was perfect for that. We did not have a sit-down dinner, and instead had plenty of food, drinks, dancing, and time for everyone to hang out. The vast majority of our guests really seemed to love this style of celebration. We also found that we spent less than we would have at a more traditional wedding venue, while still having an amazing and memorable event. The audio was another huge highlight. Props to the audio team! It was so cool having our wedding at a venue that is designed for music. We had a DJ, and the sound was incredible. I think Iron Works would be especially awesome for anyone considering a live band. The bar staff was also fantastic -- super attentive, quick with drinks, and just had great vibes throughout the night. We did a consumption bar, which was a really nice option and gave us some additional flexibility. Setup and breakdown were also incredibly easy for us. Amanda and our wedding coordinator handled everything, so we really didn't have to worry about the logistics. We were also able to leave some things behind and pick them up the next day, which was a huge help after a long night of celebrating. Overall, we are thrilled that we chose Iron Works for our reception. The flexibility, atmosphere, staff, and ability to customize everything made it such a great fit for the type of celebration we wanted. We would absolutely recommend Iron Works to anyone looking for a wedding venue that feels a little less traditional and a lot more like a party. We're already looking for reasons to plan another event there!

We parked right across from the venue. The venue is located in a refurbished church and the highlight for me was seeing all the fixtures including pews and glass stained windows still in tact. Getting in was easy they just checked our ids and scanned our tickets. Short walk from the entrance to the actual music area. There is a floor standing room area you can watch the music, as well as two elevated seating areas. The seats were pews and very roomy. It was nice to be able to sit and enjoy the show free from the crowds. The sound quality was mostly good but at times I found it was very loud and hard to hear what the musician was saying. Didn't get any drinks or use the bathroom, so I can't comment on this aspect. Overall, I thought this was a great venue.

A friend asked why she was not performing in the Mary Seton room at Kleinhans Music Hall. I think the acoustics are better here, as are the slightly padded chairs. It is certainly more intimate.

I've traveled a lot and I've seen this type of service before but I was surprised to see it at Town Ballroom (in the best way possible). Mohawk Place is back, and after finally stopping in during its reopening weekend, I can happily say…read morethe place still has all the charm that makes it a Buffalo favorite. The new management seems to be off to a great start, and the combination of live music, dive bar atmosphere, and friendly vibes makes it the kind of spot that's easy to spend an entire evening in. We grabbed a couple of cocktails and settled in before going to a comedy show at Key Bank Center. Food-wise, we ordered a sampler featuring their steak sandwich with caramelized onions, house-made chips, 3 wings, and potato salad. I don't know if this will be offered in the future or if it was more for their soft opening. The steak sandwich was the standout for me. It came with a piece of strip steak that may not have been the fanciest cut, but it was flavorful and hit the spot. The chips were perfectly crunchy and dangerously addictive. I honestly could've eaten an entire bag of them. The potato salad was another pleasant surprise, creamy and flavorful without being overloaded with onions like so many versions are. If the reopening weekend is any indication, Mohawk Place is a great bar to grab a drink, and enjoy some surprisingly good food.

The museum was fantastic, truly a hidden gem and full of lots of local music history. George Scott, the president of the museum, gave us a tour and he shared incredible stories that really brought the history into modern day context. There are several exhibits, including: - a timeline that follows the evolution of American music. Each genre is associated with a time period and has a number, which can be punched into a sound stick so you can hear songs from that era. This exhibit would be interesting to both children and adults. - Buffalo connection to many nationally known musicians - History of the Local 533 union (American Federation of Musicians), who started the Colored Musicians Club. - interactive sound recording studio stations - an interactive band exhibit - and more! I can't say enough great things about how interesting this museum is, and I can't believe how many nationally recognized musicians had a Buffalo connection. I highly recommend the museum, and I actually would love to go back so I could spend more time with the interactive exhibits. It's great for all ages.
