Still a great hang at Nietzsches. Post covid has brought a few nice changes to the beer menu you can get a Miller or rolling rock pony for $2! It's nice to have a short beer sometimes. Always great music 7 days a week. At this time you must show proof of vax to enter .

Live Jazz and artists signed ceiling

Great live music, excellent drinks, and super dope atmosphere! Excellent service at the bar, bartenders are attentive to the customers, which definitely adds to the welcoming vibe. And when you go, don't forget to look up and note all the amazing artists who have had the privilege to sign the ceiling!!!! If you are in the city of Buffalo visiting or live in the WNY area and haven't been, it's a must to visit Nietzsche's!! Good vibes only!!!

    happy new year's!

Nietzsche's has been on my Buffalo bucket list for quite some time now, and I was super excited to be able to go for New Year's Eve to see one of my favorite local bands. It hits all my criteria for a great dive bar, super eclectic on the inside, "affordable," sort of sticky in the best way possible. The cover was only $5, which was shockingly cheap for New Year's, and the drinks weren't bad either, the most I paid for a mixed drink was $4. The space wasn't overly crowded considering it was a holiday, and we had ample space to sit or stand and hang. The bar itself was sort of hectic and it was a little rough trying to squeeze my way in to order, but all in all it was a good time. I wish they served food here. That would make this place an absolute perfect place to catch a show.

Buffalo is surprising. The wings are fantastic. The hockey is decent. And Nietzsche's is one of the best bohemian-esque bars that I have found here or in any other city for that matter. But what would you expect for a bar named after a German philosopher? This is a gathering place for drinkers, poets, musicians, and comedians alike. An old wooden bar greets you as enter. The décor is eclectic and fun, with art and found-art (read "stuff") found on the walls. There are promotional stickers from bands all over the place and the washrooms are adorned with graffiti tags so numerous you could kill an evening reading them, and wondering for some how on God's green was someone able to write something all the way up there? There is a stage across from the bar in the front where solo and acoustic acts as well as poetry reads carry on. At the back, a very elevated stage for larger bands and Tuesday night stand-up comedy exists. The layout of the back room is interesting for both the performer and audience alike. The crowd below the stage is quite far below the performer, and those in the balcony area that flanks either side of the stage are eye-level with the performer. Certainly splits the attention. As for the staff, the run of taps, and the cost? Fantastic. I dig, man.

    I dunno what this is.

Everyone was ranting and raving about this place. I don't get it. Personally, it's not my kind of ho-down. It's a huge space and I've seen a crazy amount of different kinds of things there from acoustic acts to huge bands. For entertainment, the place is great. But the bar is a tad bit inconvenient. It's a cash only bar and there's no ATM. So, you need to walk to the convenience store if you're only carrying a card. The drinks are made okay and the decor is divey. I don't hate the place and I've gone there a few times now. And maybe catering to the customers might ruin some of it's charm that attracts so many.

Nietzsche's is a classic Buffalo bar, with great live music on two stages and a decent beer selection (cash only). The crowd is as eclectic as the decor in this turn-of-the-century building with decades of graffiti, band stickers, and found objects covering every inch of the walls and up across the entire 15-foot ceiling. There's live music almost every night, featuring a mix of local, regional, and national bands--mostly in the Americana/jam/world genres but punctuated with some good, solid rock, punk, and blues.

Things are always happening at Nietzsche's! Tuesday night comedy open mic is the best!

    Ask the Community - Nietzsche's

I'm interested in coming here for the jazz festival and future poetry events, but I'm only 20 years old until September, is there an age limit on events here since it's a bar?

They often have 18+ events. Call ahead to find out.

We walked in, grabbed some drinks, and walked over to the pool table that noone was using. The cover was on the table and there was food and drinks sitting on top of it. We asked a bunch of people that were standing around it if the food/drinks were there's and everyone said no so we moved it to the counter that was right next to the pool table, paid to play and started playing. We took one shot on the table & the security guard came in yelling at us to leave. We were so confused as to why they were so mad, didn't understand what we did wrong and were asking them why. They just kept saying over and over again that we took the cover off the table so we need to leave. But we didn't understand why we were getting kicked out. Eventually they told us that the pool table and darts close at 11pm and you're no longer allowed to play them after that time and they compared what we did to coming into their bar and messing with the thermostat. I apologized to them saying we had no idea and that it was our first time there and that we thought the cover was just on to protect the table when it wasn't in use since people had food and drinks on it. They continued to yell at us to leave and when asking why we had to leave they said because we didn't ask to play pool and that if we had asked they would have told us no. If the security guard had come up to us and just let us know that the pool table had closed at 11 we would have apologized and stopped playing immediately because we had no idea since it was our first time there. But being yelled at and kicked out of a bar for playing pool that advertises having a pool table on Google was just so wild to us. There were no signs saying it closed at 11 and it just never even occured to us that there would be a time that a pool table would close because we've never experienced that at a bar before. We tried to reason with the security person asking why we had to leave and if we could stay if we stopped playing pool but they told us we disrespected them so we needed to leave. They then threatened to call the cops on us if we didn't leave. So we walked in, spent money on drinks that we didn't drink, spent money on pool that we didn't get to play, got yelled at and kicked out all while just trying to have a good time. Will not be returning.
