My sister-in-law wanted to go to Emo night at this venue and she decided to ask my husband and I to go with her. I haven't been to many shows since covid and I was super excited to get out and have a blast. It did not disappoint. The show was great and we all a great time. I was pleasantly surprised to see that when I went to use the restroom there was an attendant there with a table full of basic necessities. I've traveled a lot and I've seen this type of service before but I was surprised to see it at Town Ballroom (in the best way possible). It's a nice touch especially when there's a million things you forget when you go out to the bar and don't want to have to carry a million things. Overall it was a great night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There weren't a ton of people there so it getting drinks at the bar was easy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bar out front is great and the drinks are always on point. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's really cool the way they have giant pictures of a lot of the artists that have performed there over the years.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bar in the back is ok. The bartender seemed annoyed and was damn near inconvenienced by us standing at the bar but I just ignored his ass and enjoyed my night. Guster brought me to Buffalo late last month. The band had a show at Town Ballroom, which is in the city's theatre district. I am normally not a fan of general admission shows. You never know whether your standing room-only experience will be horrible or enjoyable. It was the latter case. I was pleased and relieved! I drove down from Niagara Falls, NY, where I was staying for this visit. All parking on the streets was taken. Instead, I found a parking lot across the street from this venue. I paid for parking online and then crossed the street to line up with fellow Guster fans. The process to enter this venue was civil and well-organized. Two folks way before you got to the main entrance checked your ID and then placed a bracelet around your wrist. When you got to the main doors, you had different lineups for will-call ticket pickups and another to show your ticket barcode on your phone. Mine was scanned and I was good. I don't know whether there's a bag policy. I tend to visit concert venues and sports arenas with my phone, keys, and a credit card. This theatre is a cozy throwback to decades ago, but restored to be current. I saw the lineup for Guster merchandise. I had to get a t-shirt and paid with a credit card. I used the washroom twice -- before and after the concert. This place designed the women's washroom nicely. Each stall had the door open away from you when you exited it. The doorknob was a large crystal knob that looked classy and pretty. The stall was spacious and clean. There was a woman sitting by the sink area. She had a table where you could freshen up with perfume and other items. There was also a tip jar. I didn't bother with any of it, but it was cool to witness. I washed my hands, dried them, and left. There was a coat check. It was $3. However, it only accepted cash. I didn't have any. Next to that was a snack area. I saw everything from hot pizza slices, to chilled bottled water. I don't normally get an alcoholic drink at a concert. At this classy place, it felt appropriate. I got a coconut rum and coke. It was $9. Not horrible! I was fortunate that the bar accepted credit cards. I paid and tipped with it. The drink was perfect. I got a decent spot to see Guster. I was off to the side, near the short set of steps by the stage. It was perfect to hang my jacket on the handrail. There was also a small ledge to place your drink on it. I was extremely happy, especially saving $3 for a coat check! My view was decent, despite having a few folks in front of me. It helped that they were shorter in height. The concert was fantastic. Guster rarely comes over the border (I have only seen it happen once), so I tend to see the band stateside. This concert in Buffalo was the shortest distance that I have travelled stateside to see the band. Doors opened at 7 pm. The concert started at 8 pm. No opening act. The show started on time. Guster put on a stellar performance. It was excellent all around. Staff were super nice and friendly. I loved my first concert experience at this venue. I'd return again to take in another concert. I was in Buffalo for work and just so happened to notice that Boogie T was playing right around the corner from my hotel, at Town Ballroom, the last night of my stay. Given its proximity to where I was staying, going to this show was a no brainer. I grabbed a last minute ticket and headed there a while after the doors opened. This venue is so incredibly similar to a venue I go to often in Columbus so I immediately felt at home. Once walking through the doors you'll find a giant bar in the center of the room, some pretty cringey bathrooms to the right and further to the right is where you'll make your way to the stage. I grabbed a seltzer (which cost exactly what you would expect) and made my way to the music. I really liked how it was multiple levels. There was the floor closest to the stage, there was a stadium-like standing area on what I would call the second floor.. And then the top floor (where you enter from) has a good bit of room to dance around. I'm a floor girlie and the show wasn't sold out so I actually had room to dance and get in and out easily. This was my first solo show and I had a blast. The crowd was fun and friendly and Boogie T was great. I didn't notice any issues with the sound or production but the screen in the back for visuals was fairly small. The lights were fun, though! I could definitely see Town Ballroom being a spot where I would regularly catch shows if I lived in the area. Since it's not huge, I imagine a lot of not-so-well-known musicians and artists come through here, which is totally my jam. read more

Literally kicked me and my sister out for no reason, he said we were 'too drunk' but I was 100% sober (I'm not even legal age to drink yet) and she only had a couple drinks early in the evening and then had water the rest of the night. We were literally just looking for her phone that she lost. He got shitty with me too when I asked a simple question even before this went down. He even admitted when we both were escorted outside that he kicked us out because my sister was standing there literally looking around (because she lost her phone) so yeah. Total power trip. He was a fat bald man for anyone wondering who it is. Has to make up for his insecurities by being a dick to a couple of young girls trying to have fun for my birthday. read more

It's been over a decade since I came to a concert here. Almost felt surreal stepping back in here with a different crowd than I used to go to shows here with. I arrived early (I confused show time with doors). They explained it to me and I had to wait outside a little while, but not too big of a deal. I felt safe and doors did open on time. I found check in to be fast and efficient. I ordered 2 chardonnays from the bar. They were $9 a glass for a price point. There were 2 ticket options for this concert: sitting and standing. I was glad for this as I stand all day at work and heck, I'm getting older... I wanted to sit! It was awesome because I got to sit front row. No phones being raised in my face which is a pet peeve of mine. The sound was great and I had a wonderful time! I sang along all night to the band Unplugged who did all of Nirvanas unplugged set, all of jagged little pill album by alanis, a few more of their songs, other great songs of the 90s ... some one hit wonders, the cranberries, AIC, STP, PJ, etc. I would love to come to another concert here sooner than later as it was a wonderful experience. read more

I showed up with my date and was told we only had one ticket and due to "occupancy" I could not buy another one. We had to leave without going in. The gate agent at the theater would not help and (really) looked at us and said "not my problem this is your problem." read more

You simply can't beat this place as a music venue. Years ago, the sound was garbage and the place was kind of divey, but you can tell that this owner has put a lot of money into the place to upgrade everything. The sound, and especially the lighting are fantastic. If you have a chance, check out the front room (opposite the doors). The owner has collected a ton of memorabilia for the "Buffalo Casino," and it's so cool to see all the big names that have played here over the years. read more

As far as the sound quality and view of a band/artist for a concert venue, this is my favorite spot to see a show in Buffalo . Only a couple of complaints . Standing for a 3hr plus show (standing room only here) can be exhausting for the 40 and over demographic. Also two drinks came to just under $20! (nothing fancy just soda and a mixer!) If you have to pay for parking and coat check , it can make for a pricey night . But with the great acoustics and historic atmosphere, you will no doubt have a memorable night . I got the pleasure of seeing Twenty one Pilots and Walk the Moon here before they were on the radio and seeing them set up their own stage is mind blowing thinking back on it. 10,000 maniacs and The Great Train Robbery played this last Friday for a charity event and the crowd was really engaged with the show. Town Ballroom is my favorite concert venue in Buffalo. It's not super dirty, a great size, and you can see no matter where you are in the venue (I'd know since I'm 5'2" and have stood nearly everywhere lol). The sound quality is fantastic and they always put on a great light show and use tons of confetti. The bar is white large and wraps around so you can easily find a spot to grab a drink. They have some of the best bookings in Buffalo. Definitely a venue you need to check out if you haven't yet! read more

Surprisingly, I've never been to a concert here before! I wasn't sure what to expect, but not only was I surprised and impressed, but I think I've found my new favorite downtown venue! I lucked out and received some tickets from a friend for 1033 The Edge's Unplugged Strumbellas show, which was a super exclusive show of probably only 150-200 people. The venue space was definitely filled, but not to the point where it was overwhelming. There probably isn't a bad spot in the house. We were right up near the front of the stage, but it's all standing room and the "risers" give you a clear and perfect view of the stage no matter where you stand. There's a bar in the concert room itself, and a bar in the lobby. The lobby is super snazzy, it felt like I was in a speakeasy! The sound was fantastic, clear, you could hear every member of the band playing (and there's six members!). The bathrooms were super clean, and there were a ton of stalls, which is always a plus for women (we all hate having to wait in line to use the bathroom!). I'm really hoping I get to come to another concert here soon. I'll probably even go out of my way to see who's playing here next! read more

Entrance to the venue was painless, drinks were quickly ordered and about average price. I had tickets to see an artist with a few friends, and this was my first time in here. It was clean, bathrooms were large, and the artist was great. But here was my huge, problem. As soon as the artist started their set, the entire place went up in a puff of Mary Jane. That stuff smells like an actual skunk, and there was absolutely no space in the building that was safe from the stink. Even the security was passing joints around. Yeah, yeah, I know, its legal now. You can't smoke inside buildings, but you can spark up? I had to leave, it was giving me a migraine. A waste of tickets and my time. If thats a regular thing that happens here, then I'm not interested in coming back. read more

My brother is a seasoned vet when it comes to live shows, but it was my first experience there. It quickly became one of my favorite music venues that I've been to and Beartooth was amazing! Last night my boyfriend and I (both Boomers) went to a concert here. It was my first visit. He hadn't been there for a few years, but told me that there would be plenty of seating available as long as we arrived early. We'd purchased our tickets in advance at the box office and arrived about an hour before the concert was scheduled to start. When we looked for seats, we realized there were none! When we questioned a staff member, he responded that they'd removed seats and reduced the occupancy. Huh??? I asked if we might be able to have two chairs, because I have a bad back and foot problems. He responded that if he did that for us, "Everyone would ask for seats." DUH.... He suggested we go to the bar and hang out so we wouldn't have to stand as long. We did, only to discover no bar stools. After a few minutes we spotted a very small area with a few tables, so we had a place to sit and drink our beer before the concert began. I spoke to a woman at the merch hold table before the concert started. She was very understanding, and directed us to the box office. She said it wasn't a sellout and she was sure they'd be able to accommodate us. When I approached the box office woman, she was rude and shooed me away, saying they couldn't provide seats. Inside the venue I noticed a small space in front of the "handicapped area" that apparently had accommodations for 2 people, and leaned against a railing for 2+ hours. I realize that many people enjoy dancing to the music, but I like to sit and listen. We left before the encores, because it was just too painful for me to continue standing. If we had known about the seating/standing situation we wouldn't have purchased tickets. Obviously, Boomers are not the target market, but certainly advising at the box office and on Facebook (where we saw the ad for the concert) about the lack of seats would have been the right thing to do. I am still angry and my back is still hurting. I will NEVER return to the Town Ballroom as long as no seating is provided. All things considered, it was a disappointing experience for a concert that we were looking forward to attending. read more

I attended the Jxdn concert March 17th of 2023 and had the most amazing time. I'd never been to this venue but will definitely be returning soon. The bathrooms were clean, the open room featuring the artists who've played in the past was gorgeous. They had pizza available tonight, I'm not sure if that's a per event thing. The bar staff and security was friendly with the security being the right amount of assertive. There was an incident during the show and security helped to get the situation under control. My favorite concert venue. Not too big, not too small but just right. Being on Main St is nice. I always like a stroll past Shea's and the theater district. Lots of options for bars and restaurants nearby. Security doesn't treat you like you're going into a prison. Huge bar when you walk in that's heavily staffed with attentive bartenders. Domestic beer runs $5. Large bathrooms with a guy that hands you a paper towel after you wash your hands. I personally find that weird but it does give you that old time feel. The actual concert hall has two small bars and the views are perfect. There's a pit and then layers that go up further back. I've never had a bad view here. I've been to small intimate acoustic concerts here all the way to sold out heavy metal shows. The sound is always perfect. I have yet to see a bad show here. read more

To start, the first night I came (12/30). I was pulled aside at the door because I looked like a person that was kicked out earlier in the night. After they got a closer look at me, they realized I was not this person. Okay cool, security is just doing their job. The second night I came(12/31), again I was pulled aside by the same security guard. This time he was extremely disrespectful to both my girlfriend and I. I was trying to tell him I was the same person who he had mistook the night before. He did not want to hear it, repeatedly telling me to "shut up" and getting in my face. This is when my girlfriend stepped out to see why I wasnt getting in. She POLITELY asked if I wasnt getting in. Then your security guard jumped down her throat and said "DID I SAY THAT, BOTH OF YOU BETTER SHUTUP BEFORE I DONT LET YOU IN". through this whole situation I was being calm and respectful to the guy. I did end up getting in. After the show ended on our way out the door, I lost my girlfriend. I made it outside, then saw her looking for me inside. I opened the exit door to call her, so she knew where I was. Out of no where a security guard pushed me outside the door and nearly made me fall on my face as I tripped over somebody. I understand your security needs to be strict. But it really rubbed me the wrong way when I'm just there to have a good time and not cause any trouble. And I get the bad wrap because they are all hyped up over somebody else they had trouble with. I know this could happen to anyone. I know you provide the service of live music. But as a business owner myself, no matter what your service is you should treat your paying customers with respect. Which is far from what I experienced this past night. It seems all the negative reviews are because of security, and still nothing is done about them. read more

I adore this venue! A great place to see a show. No matter where you are in the venue, you have a great view of the stage. The sound is always on point. Ticket prices are often pretty affordable too. Most shows I've seen here have been in the ~$30-40 range. Because of the tiered layout, it makes the space feel intimate but you can actually pack quite a crowd in here. I opt for a vodka sodas if I'm grabbing a drink at the bar. Basic, no nonsense. They have 3 bars - the one in the lobby is round so it's pretty easy to grab a drink. Without fail, the Town Ballroom is one unclassy (this is not a word), unpretentious venue. If you're here to enjoy your favorite artist, you can and will. I just hope you're not intimidated by large crowds (you wouldn't come to a concert if you were, or would you?). Why? Well, strangely enough as divey as this place is it's also very intimate. Artists can and have opted to disconnect the microphone and simply use the acoustics in the room to do some songs. And with the way that this place is set up; it works. There is no seating here. You can either stand on the floor next to the stage or a level up. Both spots give you a great view of the artist -- you just need to make a choice: do you want to get down and crazy with the (sometimes) wild crowd on the floor or do you want to casually sip your drink and nod nonchalantly to the tunes on the upper level? As small as this place is, it's also rather large. There's a separate hall with a bar with A LOT of room to lounge around. Too bad it's away from the music. Well, by a lot of room to lounge around, I mean there's a few wooden tables set up, otherwise you'll be sitting or standing around the bar. It's a divey place -- what do you expect? As others have said, bathrooms are large and there's 3 bars here. Drinks are $4-6. Security is fine; no complaints. I've never had an issue with them, they seem to have a quip sense of humor about their job which is refreshing. So if your favorite artist is coming to this venue don't be scared. It's not as bad as it looks from the outside. read more

PENS NOT ALLOWED!!! That's right, if you're coming to watch a band at the Town Ballroom, leave your ballpoint pen at home. The bouncer will snatch it right out of your hand with nary an explanation. Don't worry, though, your prescription and non-prescription drugs will go unnoticed. That aside, I loved this venue. It's exactly what I wished a venue in Las Vegas was like. The place is pretty big... holds about 1000 people, but there's no bad spot in the house. Wherever you are, there's no bad place to watch the band. I was hoping for seats since I'm an old man, but hey, I'll take a great view of the band over being comfortable when Minus The Bear is the one taking the stage. Bonus points for me going to the bar and ordering a water, expecting to pay $2 or $3 and having the bartender hand me a glass of water for free. And he didn't seem put out that I wasn't buying a drink, either. I'll probably never see a show here again, unfortunately, but I wish I could. read more

Love that they have a bar in the concert room so you don't have to go to the lobby to grab your water/soda/beer - I don't particularly like that they keep the restroom doors open, and also would like to see them accept credit/debit at both bars. The Town Ballroom has been one of my favorite venues since I was in high school and first started going to shows. Not only do they get great acts to come to Buffalo, they provide an awesome environment for enjoying them. It's located right near Shea's and the Chippewa area. They're pretty good about getting people in quickly, which is especially nice for the cold Buffalo weather. They have a guy or two checking IDs and handing out wristbands in the line, then another guy and usually a woman to check bags, etc. If you're ticket is will-call, you have to go inside to get it. The first area is a huge room with a full bar and a few tables, restrooms, coat check, band merchandise, etc. The will-call ticket line is at the opposite end of the door so it helps reduce the clutter. All the employees were nice and seemed to be mostly enjoying their jobs. Bartenders were pretty friendly considering it's a venue bar. It's $4 for a domestic beer (they only have bottles) and also $4 for well mixed drinks, which isn't too bad. The actual main room, where the bands play, is the best part about this place (obviously). There are three tiers -- one main floor, and two tiers higher up with railings that allow for better viewing. There are two bars in this area as well. The sound is good, as it should be. There's always a good light set-up, whether it's the bands lights/props or the Town Ballroom. They have a big disco ball that I've only seen them use once, though I'm sure it's used for special occasions. I'm hoping this place never closes. (The Buffalo Icon, never forget!) read more

I don't know that I've ever seen a bad show at the Town Ballroom. I've seen a number of shows here and what always stands out to me is the sound quality. I don't know how or why, but the sound quality is amazing in this place... Better than any other local venues that do similar types of shows. In my experience ticket prices about average. There is a bar in the front portion of the club, as to be expected drinks are pricey, but not too bad considering it's a concert venue and Inn downtown Buffalo. read more

One of my fave live music venues in wny.. Never had a bad time here. Even for the bigger shows, I've not had to wait out in line too long. Security is usually pretty chill, if you behave yourself. They have a good sound system here, and no how to manage it. Never felt like my ears were going to bleed because the levels were off. Huge open space right in front of the stage, and the a couple of higher tiers to "escape" to if you need a break from the craziness. Each side even has its own bar, so you never have to venture far for a drink (always a good thing). There's also a huge foyer right when you walk in that has its own huge bar. And if you actually want to have a convo with someone, this is the spot to do it. read more

Last night was my third time at this venue. I came here for the Wood Brothers concert in late January of 2019. I came here last night (02/01/2019) to see three cover bands. I came here in between those two events for nachopalooza. The security detail was great. They were quick and thorough. There is a large circular bar when you walk in. They accept cash or credit cards at that bar. There is a coat check. I utilized that service tonight. I usually don't. It was $3.00 but well worth it. Our tickets were at will call and it was a quick and easy process. The ticket scanners were quick and thorough. There was one bar open to the left of where I walked in. The bartenders only took cash there. Usually there are two bars open in the main area. My friend and I stood just past the bar. During the third act, we moved to the main floor, in front of the stage. There really isn't a bad "seat" in the place. That's the thing though; there was only room to stand, which really stinks. They always book such fantastic bands so it more than evens out my distaste at having to stand all night. There is an attendant in the women's room as well. The 90's cover bands were fantastic, especially Murmur, who is an R.E.M. cover band. They're from Syracuse and they were absolutely amazing!!! Talk about a great downtown concert venue! This place is a great open space, always with reasonable ticket prices. I've been to a fair amount of shows here for years, and always E no my time. They have a nice big roundabout bar in the front room, so it is easy to be served. There's a coat check, and the bathrooms have a dozen stalls. This place makes going to a concert easy, no hassle, the only thing you have to wait for is the performer to get on stage! There are some great viewing points that you can find yourself, I can't reveal my secret dynamite spots! Looking forward to my next time here. read more

This past Saturday my friends and I had attended an event for Wooli. I had a panic attack because of my own personal reasons and I needed a moment to collect myself near the entrance of the main stage. The ladies from the bathroom came over to ask if I was okay and I requested just a second to breathe. The ladies proceeded to accuse us of being on "something"(this is what they said and for the record, we're 20) and accusing me of vomiting on the floor, which I did not do. My friends and I stepped out of the way to show that I was not throwing up, I was just breathing to calm myself down. Then they proceeded to kick us out and when my friend went towards an exit, they physically dragged her arm in the other direction leaving a bruise. There's two exits and we didn't know which way to go. Mental health is a real thing and they didn't have to yell or use brutal force to get their point across. On another note, they had already been targeting us because when we had first gotten on line one of my friends was cold and was getting warmed up by another. They had physically asked if my friend was intoxicated and if they were sober because she was simply shivering from the cold. Not everyone goes to raves drunk or on "something". read more
