From the moment you walk into Smile the Spa, you are greeted by warm friendly folks and a serene atmosphere. They always remember my name and welcome me like I am an old friend. For my first visit, I had a dental cleaning, and I knew immediately that this was a great place. It was such a thorough cleaning and the technology Dr. Terra uses is first rate. I was terrified of the dentist, and I had A LOT of work to do. Many crowns, fillings, fixing some really crazy teeth, and oral surgery. All this before I can do the "fun stuff" (Invisalign and whitening). Whereas other dentists have made my road so long I have eventually given up, Dr. Terra gently and efficiently led me through a healing process. Within months, I now have new teeth! Yes!! And I was scared, but Dr. Terra referred me to an amazing surgeon; I was able to conquer my fear because I knew that if Dr. Terra trusted them, I could too. Thanks to all this work, I will soon start the fun stuff! And yes, my new teeth (Crowns) are GORGEOUS. Dr. Terra is an artist. He makes the crowns himself and they are incredible (and done so so quickly - no more waiting around with a temp crown for months!). Smile the Spa has been the place I go to for my teeth since moving to LB almost 3 years ago. I like that they've focus on making the space relaxing with aromatherapy and relaxing spa-like music. It's honestly a welcomed change in simplicity for me as I previously went to a dentist where they'd give you headphones to watch tv for something you honestly couldn't really watch bc of how loud the instruments and overall environment were. Everyone from front desk to the dental hygienists are amazing. I remember when I finished a deep cleaning series they gave me a cute little trophy to mark the end of that journey. And of course Dr. Julio Terra is an absolute delight. All of his recommendations for my teeth have been great but he is never pushy. He always answers all my questions and has a very practical approach to teeth, which I appreciate. He's always warm and has such great memory for small details of what's going on in your life. I am sad to report that the experience has changed full circle. What used to be a smooth experience from 1st phone in to check out has become a bit of a nightmare. Dr Terra may not even know it is a problem yet, and I hope this helps him (he is a very good business man) He replaced his front office staff/manager and she does not share the same office culture he does. I believe his business has grown and a simple fix could be to hire more GOOD help. I had my 6 month cleaning cancelled and have never been able to reschedule. I have called 6 times looking for a date that fits my schedule, to be denied and no alternatives offered. I am almost as busy as Dr Terra and hated that my cleaning was cancelled without a date to replace it. I regretfully changed to another Dentist and the appointment was as easy as 1-2-3. I LOVE Dr. Terra! He is simply amazing, warm, and funny! He is so personable and really cares about his clients. I have been his client for over 5 years! I used to detest dentist appointments but with Dr. Terra, I feel so relaxed and tranquil--they have aroma therapy and will let you choose the scent and they always have Andean flute music playing in the background--which is so peaceful and beautiful--which really makes it feel like a spa. The front desk ladies are always welcoming and have a smile on their faces when they greet you and check you in/out. The space is very clean and your appointment always starts on time or early if you're there sooner than expected. Everyone that works with Dr. Terra are very approachable and kind. I was recommended to go here by friends. Unfortunately, my experience with the staff has been pretty poor and I have zero confidence in initiating care at this practice. The staff seems extremely incompetent. I called over a month ago to schedule a new patient appointment. I provided my PPO Dental insurance (which most all dentists take as it's a top-tier PPO plan). On 3 occasions before my appointment today, I get notified that I'm going to receive a new patient packet to complete prior to my appointment. Nope, never received anything. Then, 30 minutes before my appointment, I receive a text message saying that I would owe $245 for today's visit as they were not able to verify my benefits (that I provided over a month ago). I am not comfortable initiating care with this practice if they can't even handle a new appointment correctly. read more

I was 13 min late for an fillings appointment. When I arrived I was told the doctor started another meeting & needed to reschedule. I was not sure what that meant & asked if he was with another patient. The answer was no, he took a walk in Invisalign marketing meeting. So, I said interesting he took a business marketing meeting instead of doing the fillings with his already established dental client. Being late on my part is inconvenient I understand. But not having a policy stated clearly about a late cancellation automatic reschedule ( I asked for one & they couldn't find it) & instead taking a business marketing meeting is just as inconvenient & not good customer service. Focus more on your current customers before setting them aside to figure out how to get more. The dentist is nice, but this runaround of a narrative made me question the integrity of this dental practice. read more

First and foremost, I highly recommend Dr. Terra and his caring team! I had not been to the dentist in over 12 years and neglected taking care of my teeth. I had so much anxiety and shame prior to my first visit with Dr. Terra. He did not judge me or make me feel bad about neglecting my dental needs; it was quite the opposite. His demeanor and patience made me calm and he explained what my needs were based on priorities and we came up with a "game plan" to address my needs. We took it one step at a time and I had my fourth visit with him today, which included the extraction of two teeth (pain free)! My next step is getting braces with an orthodontist Dr. Terra recommended. Dr. Terra is so gentle in his approach and he takes the time to explain the procedure and what to expect. He takes great care and really puts the patient first! There are no surprises or hidden fees in the billing as the invoices itemize the cost of the treatment or procedure and shows how much your insurance covers, and how much your out-of-pocket expenses will be. It is evident that Dr. Terra and his team take great pride in their work and I am so grateful that I found my dentist! Wow! Dr Terra and the whole team are INCREDIBLE. I have always taken pride in my smile, but had gone a long time since my last cleaning (over a year and a half before I moved from NY. At first he can almost be impressive. He makes you feel as if he actually cares. But be warned, he doesn't! He is a typical patchwork dentist. After coming here for a couple of years he sent me to another dentist for an second opinion on crown lengthening... when I showed up for that consultation I had to pay $325 to be looked at and left being told this D wanted $129,000 to replace my crowns. Not even what I was going for, so Terra's referral was a total waist of time and money. When I returned to Dr Terra and told him of his referrals actions and I wanted him to take that amount off of my next treatment he just said no & that he would use the information I provided as a learning experience - wait, learning at my cost? So save your money and being frustrated yourself. Find another dentist! Note - I'm filing a HIPPA violation against him too as he talks about you to his friends which I had to hear about!!! I really like Dr. Terra and the dental techs at Smile the Spa. First of all, you get hot towels to wipe off with at the end! Second, soothing music in the background. Third, the techs and Dr. Terra are so professional - I feel like I'm in an operating theater. They're all gowned up with masks on. Fourth, I love Dr. Terra. He is so gentle and has a very kind, soothing demeanor. And he does such good work! I have (and had) a ton of cavities and needed crowns as well, and he did quick, efficient, quality work on my teeth. And did I mention soothing? I almost fell asleep while he worked on me. Fifth, if I have even the least discomfort, he gives me a bit more novocaine, so I never have to worry about that drill buzzing in my mouth. Sixth, I like his techs. They are kind and nice and don't talk too much. My old dentist's techs started to talk WAY TOO MUCH while working on me. Like, quiet! I can't answer! Dr. T and his team are phenomenal! He is genuinely warm and easy going with a great sense of humor and pleasant chairside demeanor. You never have to wait to be placed in your room and Dr. Terra is very capable and works at very smooth pace. I'm always in and out in less than 2 hours for multiple procedures. The office is beautiful and relaxing and makes any dental treatment a breeze. I have been able to fully relax during through multiple fillings and crown replacements. Dr. T takes the time to numb you before administering any shots so that they are painless. It may seem hard to believe but I have not had any pain at all through three fillings and a crown replacement procedure. That is awesome! My teeth look and feel wonderful. This was a great dentist experience. Very nice staff and super clean exam rooms. I had been postponing a check up for a few years because the dental process can be daunting for me. This doc is great though, and there was never an ounce of judgment for my years of not maintaining my teeth properly. I didn't feel any pain and my teeth look so much better! This dentist is an artist and perfectionist... just what you'd want for something as important as your appearance. Not only that but Dr. Julio does not believe in pain... another positive attribute in a dentist! The last dentist gave me crowns that were darker than my teeth and before I could see them in thr light, had me to sign a document that that I was 'ok' with that. Not Dr. Julio! One tooth was too bright when it came in, and he's changing it cuz he doesn't think it looks right. Nice change from the more expensive last guy. I no longer have a chipped tooth from when I was 12. Lastly, he is trained in lots of things. Here can do Invisaline to straighten your teeth and there was a sign for botox, if you're interested. I've been dealing with chipped teeth issues and spent thousands of dollars for temporary fixes with other dentists, but Dr Julio was the FIRST and only dentist to recognize that I had a bite misalignment that was causing these issues and that could be fixed (and that I better fix soon before it gets even worse). I am so grateful for his team for giving me a light of hope for a better bite and future. As a side note, he also did magical dentistry work adjusting my chipped teeth ahead of fixing the bite.
