A Belmont Dental Care was thorough, friendly, and kind. The dentist showed me each tooth on the x-rays and was very patient at going through every single part of my dental history and health. I usually hate going to the dentist, but this doctor made the experience stress-free and was incredibly helpful and informative. I was in and out in less than 45 minutes, the office was clean and quiet, and he did not try to upsell me or shame me. In fact, he was very encouraging and supportive, and the cleaning was excellent. I will definitely be back and would probably drive lengthy distances for his services, should I end up leaving the great Long Beach area one day. Obviously, this was just a cleaning, so I can't speak to bigger procedures. Still, after just one visit, I feel that I have found my forever dental home and would absolutely trust him with larger issues in the future.

RUN. If I could…read moredescribe this place in one word, it would be predatory. I came here using my Delta PPO insurance expecting professional and honest service. Instead, from the moment I walked in, the front office staff had poor attitudes and made the experience uncomfortable. Almost immediately, they began pushing a 3-D imaging service and asked me to sign a consent form. Be cautious you do not have to agree to additional imaging if you are not comfortable. I was told I had multiple cavities. That alone shocked me.. After spending nearly four hours there, they claimed I needed a $500 deep cleaning and an additional $2,000 worth of dental work. What made things worse, I brought my daughter with me. Her teeth are in great condition, yet they attempted to charge for a routine cleaning even with my PPO. She only had X-rays and the 3-D imaging. I had to specifically request a routine cleaning for her, for a routine visit. They were taking so long. We didn't even get it. Some of the staff was outside drinking a coffee while we were waiting. Feeling uneasy, I sought a second opinion with another dentist using the same Delta PPO insurance. The second office found ZEROcavities, and my co-pay was only $100 for deep cleaning . They confirmed I did not need the extensive work that was recommended. That was extremely concerning. Even after spending hours there, nothing was actually done besides imaging, and I left feeling misled and pressured. They definitely overbuild. I agree with all the reviews that state that. They ended up charging me $60 for this visit and literally only did imaging. I do not recommend booking an appointment here. Please consider getting a second opinion before agreeing to any major treatment plans. Also be prepared to wait, and poor customer service. Unacceptable.

I have been a patient of Dr. Mendoza's for a couple of years now. Let me fill you in on my dental…read morehistory. I had not been to a dentist since probably kindergarten or 1st grade. My single parent household did not have much money as I was growing up, so we would only go to the doctor for emergencies. And once I became a working adult, I never had health insurance at any of my jobs. When I finally obtained a job with benefits, I still put off visiting the dentist because I was afraid of the out of pocket costs. I had heard horror stories of out of pocket payments, even with the help of insurance. I knew I couldn't put it off any longer because in 2018 I developed a sizable hole on the top of one of my back molars. I did a lot of research on dentists before I called Dr. Mendoza's office to schedule an appointment. I explained that I hadn't been to a dentist in nearly 30 years. They were very reassuring, and I had an appointment lined up in no time. It was my first time getting dental x-rays, which showed how much damage my tooth was suffering. I would need a root canal, which they would be able to perform right away. Dr. Mendoza was so kind and gentle during the process, and always made sure I was ok and comfortable throughout. He made me laugh, and dispelled any fears I had. He took the time to ask me questions about myself, and get to know me as a person. I was surprised at how painless the procedure was!!! Now that I have had a root canal, I can say I would rather have a root canal than deal with a lot of other things in life LOL! Before the procedure started, April at the front desk brought me the invoice showing how much I would have to pay out of pocket, apart from my insurance coverage. I literally started crying, I was so grateful, because the price was so much less than I had feared! Dental work is not cheap, but it was way more affordable than I had ever imagined! I returned to the office a couple weeks later when my crown was ready, and had it installed. I like to refer to it as my bionic tooth. I have been back to the office regularly for my biannual cleanings. It is always a breath of fresh air to see April, the dental hygienist Teresa, and Dr. Mendoza. They truly treat you like family, and are some of the kindest people I have ever met. I wish all doctors and staff, and people in general, were as wonderful as they are! At the time of my writing this, I recently lost my job. They moved up my next biannual cleaning to see if my insurance would cover it before it ran out. It did not, but again, the out of pocket cost was incredibly affordable. I left the office that day feeling deeply cared for, as I do whenever I leave Dr. Mendoza's office. So even though I don't know when I will have insurance again, I feel good knowing I can still go in for whatever dental care I need. And did I mention they have a zen garden?!? The energy in the office is so calming and serene. The decor is gorgeous, and many of the items you see there have been contributed by Dr. Mendoza's patients. It is my favorite Dr's office by far. If you are scared of the dentist, scared about the cost of dental work, or are just looking for a new dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Mendoza and his incredible team! I truly could not have asked for a better doctor, and am so grateful to have found him! They are THE BEST!
