She moved my appt around to make sure I got a therapist that would suit my preferences. The spa is clean and very relaxing. The locker rooms and restrooms were very clean. She paid close attention to my various ailments and made sure that I was comfortable. I will definitely see her again. They have a very large retail section. The massage was 'okay'. It felt like someone just rubbing oil on you. The pressure was kind of weak. I felt awkward bringing it up more than once. After we redeemed our gift card, there was an issue with gratuity. When we were gifted this a few years back, our friends mentioned they had added 20% tip. I believe the price of the massage went up, which makes sense. However, the front desk person made it seem like prices haven't changed and it was odd that the tip was so little. It would have been nice if they were just honest with why the top was much less now, which is probably because the price of the massage went up. I would probably check out another place.

The owner responded right away even though it was after hours. If you park in the parking lot, you have to walk down the stairs and go to the left - they're right below the Mexican restaurant, and you will pass a few other places before you get to them. The salon itself has a very cool beachy and modern vibe. It's laid out nicely and very clean. I felt like even though I wasn't able to give Lauren a whole lot of direction during our consultation, she was really able to read between the lines and interpret what I was getting at. My thick hair looks super healthy and doesn't feel heavy anymore, and she didn't even use a razor to thin it out as most people want to. Lauren knows her stuff!! And my husband even noticed the difference in my hair - that's HUGE. I also love the variety of haircare lines they carry but not in an overwhelming way - as Lauren put it, they carry their favorites. I got the impression they take a lot of pride in what they present to their clients and are not there to oversell you on a ton of stuff you don't need, just what will work for you. If you go because of this review, let me (and them!) know - they have a great referral program that gets you 10% off, but I'm not sure if you need to present the card they gave me. As it is now, Saturdays and weekday nights are near impossible to book with her and thats with weeks notice in advance. However, I will perform my Yelp duties and post my review. I've already been putting it off for a couple months to keep Maddie to myself, but that's against what Yelp stands for, so I must post kicking and screaming. Maddie is: Awesome. You want full highlights? She's done 3 colors for me to give a natural look. THREE. And she hand paints my baby-fine hair in front without putting it in foil since its more delicate. The cut? Fantastic. She's fixed me up with a manageable, but modern cut. The fiance used to go next door to Roosters, and I convinced him to give Maddie a try since he'd complain after every cut. He continues to go to her...which is huge, because he hasn't been happy with any cut in years. To get to Waves, park at the top parking lot (near Walgreens) and take the stairs or elevator down to the street level. Waves is a small salon which I love, and only has a few chairs which is much more pleasant in my opinion. Waves doesn't have the long line of chairs and craziness going on. Its intimate and much more personal. I love Maddie, she does amazing work especially with color and is one of the best I've seen with my "problem" hair.

In my twenties I made the mistake of just going to nice salons and taking whatever stylist that was available. I thought my hair was as simple as you could get. As you can imagine, I had some serious hair disasters. I soon learned how important it is to find a good stylist and develop a relationship. This is harder to do than you would think! Cassie is the best stylist I have ever had. She is great with both color and cut, which is hard to find. She is also the most consistent stylist I have ever had... also hard to find. Lastly, she is very reasonably priced for the area. She was even nominated as one of the best stylists in Loudoun County. Oh, and she gives you a nice massage during the shampoo. Who doesn't like a scalp massage! Previously I have had problems with highlights that are more orange/gold than blonde and don't look natural. Cassie's color always looks natural. She does the right amount of larger and smaller chunks of color to make it look even. If you get partial highlights she also does a great job of highlighting the entire crown and front (not just the very top). My hair has been thinning as I get older and she's also done a great job of giving it some much needed body with the cut. I suggest bringing pictures. Once, in my past, I asked for chunky highlights and walked away with two huge 2 inch racing stripes going down the sides of my head. (Not Cassie!) Hair Savvy the salon is a nice place. It's not super posh. They're not going to offer you wine and cappuccino. There's not a spa-like waiting room while you're processing, but it does have it's own unique personality with little touches like antique dressers for each of the stylist's stations. It can get a little drafty, so bring a sweater.
