UPDATE: Kanta…read morereached out to me offering a free massage for the inconvenience. She sounded sincere in the messages so I decided to give it a second chance. I was taken to a bigger room this time because I requested a traditional Thai massage. Deep tissue with oil last time did not really work out for me. We discussed last visit's complaints and how she was going to perform her massage this time. I appreciated she took my feedback positively. I changed into loose shirt and pants. Sheets had which looked like a makeup stain but it was not anywhere near my head so I tried not to be Karen about it. Kanta has really strong hands that were perfect for my stiff neck and the pain I'm having associated with it. She asked if I'm ok with her walking on my back so I can have an even stronger pressure than her hands alone. It may seem rude in some cultures to step on someone , but I am willing to do anything to get some relief. After 90m of stretching and kneading, my body felt incredibly lighter than when I walked in to the appt. She declined my payment at check out which is a reallly nice gesture. However I know she worked hard with strong consistent pressure throughout 90m, and I left a 50% cash tip. I plan to make a monthly Thai massage appt here going forward. -------------- Original 2 stars review: I'm a world traveler and have had my fair share of Thai massages around the world including in Bangkok. My problem areas are neck and shoulders due to poor posture and long hours in front of computer. I have seen it all - the good the bad and the ugly when it comes to massages since my parents themselves are massage enthusiasts. I had my first massage at the age of 15 so I do know what I'm talking about. In desperate need of neck pain relief, I booked a 60m head massage at hands of healing Thai spa after googling "best Thai massages around me". I have a couple regular Thai massage places I frequent to, but I wanted to experience a new spa. The word "healing hands" and "Thai spa" stood out to me and felt I found my savior. After a long day, I couldn't wait to receive my soothing neck massage that evening. Herndon is 30m away from where I live. I thought to myself "no problem, I will do whatever to take this pain away". 15m prior to my appt time, I received a text reminder that my massage starts soon, price of service and directions to the spa. Texts were short and unfriendly, but I thought it may be language barrier. I politely replied I'm on my way and if I should get head massage or Thai massage for my stiff neck. She recommended deep tissue so I changed my appt to 90m deep tissue. Interior was average but seemed clean. I was led to a room after filling the form. I arrived on time but by the time I finished filling form, undressing and lied down on massage table, it was 7m past my appt time. The first few strokes were heaven. I felt she knows what she was doing. It hit all the sore spots. Everything went downhill a few moments later. She sneezed a couple times. No problem, everyone sneezes and they are uncontrollable. I had my face down on massage table so couldn't see what was happening but I can sense she was picking her nose or teeth (I could be wrong). I shook it off and tried to enjoy the massage. A few moments later, she walked away from the table and blew her nose. I was shocked and started questioning hygiene at this place. Therapists normally walk out of the room if they need to take care of such business. As massage goes on, I realized her massage techniques are below par. She kept using the same stroke without adapting to different body parts. My last straw was when she used a hot towel to wipe my legs and feet and decided to keep the same towel for my upper body. She left the room right at the clock although it started 7m late and the used towel was thrown on the floor. For me it's both the massage itself and the little things that make up the whole experience. Due to the lack of hygiene and average massage techniques, I won't be returning. At the end of the massage I didn't have much relief although I appreciated her extra efforts when I told her I didn't feel relief as expected. They have good cash discounts however so if you like to frequent this place, take cash with you.

My body had enough of the repeative practice of elbows and forearms going over the same spots. Anna like Fiona from Relax Work, I had to instruct her to move on from one spot or the whole session time would have been in that one spot I feel. The massage was great when Anna used her hands instead of her elbows and forearms. I can feel some soreness on my body, but at least the tension I was feeling earlier in my muscles is gone. Before stopping to get a bite to eat, I told my wife I would pay for the kind of massage she likes. This would be the chair massage that apparently everyone enjoys. It is Saturday and this place has a waiting list. We have one person a head of is, but she is waiting for Fiona. I am not sure who we will get, but time is on our side. The lady in orange with the black boots I like ended up being the person my wife went with. I thought about a massage myself, but not today. The sounds of the massage clocks keep going off and they are loud. Still, you are shown the time you asked for and your time isn't cheated. The woman known to me as Boots seems to be getting the job done. When it is all said and done, I hope to see a big smile on my wife's face. I watch the massage therapists doing their 10 to 30 minute routine. I wonder what is going on in their minds? Well I found out who the masseuse is for my wife. The woman named Boots turned out to be named Maria. I tipped Maria in cash which she seemed to like more than added to the receipt. Next time I am here, I have two people to choose from. Thanks for the help Maria.

Now that I've said this, it time for my massage and body scrub....* 8/16/24 *After Work* Mmm I wrote the first part of this review in 2018. A lot has changed since then. I believe most of the staff names have moved on. I met Ms. Fancy today and learned 30 minutes =$50.00. 1 hour =$70.00. Thirty minutes is a tease and I want a full 90 minute experience for $120.00. This won't include tip of course. Walking up the metal steps made a distinct sound which let's the massage therapist know someone is coming up the stairs. The cameras pointed at me most likely told them too. Ms. Fancy greeted me warmly and gave off a pleasant vibe. Although I did not get a massage today, I will try them out the next time I am in Sterling Virginia. I did see one other lady walk out of a room and I saw the client who looked surprised to see me looking in his direction. The other lady had a smile on her face and gave ove a pleasant vibe as well. There is plenty of seating space if you have to wait. I failed to get decent photo of the inside as it looks today, but I will get two photos right now. I did not see any business cards nor did I see a price menu for services offered. I do not know if body scrubs are still...okay, they do not. Just table shampoo. The language barrier is tough to get around , but doable. Finally, Upon speaking with Ms. Fancy, It sounded like the name of the business had changed. I will find out later on, but it is good to know this business is still here. I look forward to my actual massage next week along with a massage experience to write about.
