The burgers and offer of sides and salads are worthy of a burger joint. The place was full not sure because it's cheap or good. It is messy disorganized and I worry about the fact the cleaning guy finished up cleaning the tables and headed to the station to retrieve and bag the food. No hands washed. He also served the food to table. The staff on the floor and behind register seem lethargic and like they really don't want to be working here as they shuffle along literally dragging and sluggish. The long line made it a 10 minute wait with one person attending. No beer was available in the fridge so they had to get it from storage and then I was told I couldn't take it out only drunk there. He must have been happy to take it back and chug it down himself. I would've been. I am waiting and wondering what the workers hygiene habits are in the kitchen. So after I get home with my bag the napkins are on top and there are two open fries inside and the ketchup bags are dumped right on top of the fries.... really? The burgers were over salted and the fries were greasy... I can't wait for chopt to open next door! That won't happen again. read more

Passable, but not good. Buns were cold. Toppings were slim. Added jalapeños and there were two on the burger. The cheese was barley there and tasteless. Three ketchup bottles from 2 different tables were empty. No soap in the bathroom. Moved a table for all of us to sit together and the last few months of crumbs and dirt was discovered. The floor is slimy as if not cleaned well in, ever. You shoes slide on the floor as you walk. Don't really see a reason to come back. read more

Smashburger - Burgers Near Me - Wantagh, New York

smash. sizzle. savor. What a great tagline and what a great burger!! I had the privilege of enjoying my first trip here and it lived up to the great reviews. The classic cheeseburger was excellent. The beef was delicious and the smash sauce could become an addiction. The egg bun was great and overall it was a delicious messy meal! The smash fries are seasoned with garlic, olive oil and rosemary, none of which were too overpowering and a perfect compliment to the shoestring fries. The size of the burger and the fries was not skimpy but just right for me. The staff was super friendly. You place your order and are given a number to put on your table while you wait for the food to be delivered. The wait was super short, maybe 3 or 4 minutes tops. I was asked a couple times by staff if everything was good and I really appreciate how it seems like the staff are actually enjoying working there. Not your usual fast food employees at all, looked much more like the staff of a local hip restaurant or bar. Nice clean white tables, stocked with just the basics; ketchup, mustard, s&p, and napkins. Drinks are self serve and thus free refills. I will be coming back again soon to this great new addition to Wantagh. read more

My first visit to Smashburger was on a Saturday Afternoon and it was packed. YOu place your order, get a number which you place on the table and they bring your food directly to your table. The staff is extremely friendly and clear the tables pretty quickly so there isn't a large wait to sit. On my first visit I had one of their burgers. I had my doubts about the burgers when I heard the were "smashed", which I always equate with dryness, but this burger was juicy and delicious-cooked perfectly. On my second visit I had a chicken sandwich. The chicken was grilled to perfection and absolutely delicious, As for the sides: on my first visit I had the fries, which I was quite disappointed with as they seemed like frozen fries. I have had much better. On the second visit we decided to try the haystack onions and the veggie frites, both of which were delicious. If you join the Smashburger club online you get some great coupons, today we got buy 1 get 1 free chicken sandwiches!! This is a place I will definitely frequent. read more

WATCH THE REGISTER OR REVIEW YOUR RECEIPT!! This Smashburger location intentionally over rings the unsuspecting. Smash fries are $2.29 on the menu but they will ring you up at $2.39 at the register. When busted, your cashier will merely shrug and say there's nothing he can do about it. How about changing the menu or changing the register so the prices match! This is theft and should be reported to the Attorney General. Meanwhile keep an eye on how things ring up at the register if you buy here. I have never had this issue at any other Smashburger so perhaps this is just a shady franchise. After I busted them they gave me one order of fries free but there were, no doubt, hundreds of other patrons that have been stolen from throughout the day. read more

Smash Burgers, (insert pun here) SMASHES Five Guys on pretty much every ground I could think of.. Burger Taste = superb, juicy, flavorful, soft and BIG Sweet Potato French Fries Taste = Rosemary olive oil yes! Crunchy and tasty! Vanilla MALT SHAKE = ULTRA YES! Awesome Haagen Dazs Vanilla icecream paied with a TON of MALT! Excellent! Malt Shake done RIGHT! Highly recommend. Only reason for me docking a star is that I find Smash Burger to be a bit pricey especially when considering all you're eating is an awesome cheese burger and not actual "restaurant" food per se. read more

Walking in you notice the decor is very Mod- Space like. 9pm at night very bright but also very clean. Staff was friendly but I thought it was strange that they were getting ready to close/clean up with customers in the store, telling us to sit in one area so they could clean. It also seemed odd they decided to mop one area near the beverages, why take the risk of having someone slip and fall? Just seemed weird but I guess its Labor day Weekend, they were anxious to go out. My sister got a baja cobb salad with chicken on it $7.99. It was large and she enjoyed it but it did not leave her filled. I got a truffle mushroom swiss burger $6.99. It was good but nothing to rave about. There must have been a spice in the mayo that I was not crazy about but I know disliking rosemary & oregano is my own problem. I chose to get the "regular" size and I found it was not that filling either. The meat was fresh. I found the egg bun to be not so fresh or maybe like heated quickly in a microwave? Texture was weird. Burger was a bit greasy but that may have been from the truffle mayo. The fries $1.99 were good, the small type like a little thinner than Mcdonalds. When we arrived to meet a friend who lives in Wantagh, and told her that we ate their she was like yeah that place is OK I find it expensive for fast food. In comparison to Five Guys these burgers are weak. Five guys are much more filling and heartier. read more

I don't know what it is, but i'm just not drawn to this place. I was at an event here a while back (which is not swaying my opinion), had a great time there, yet only once stepped back in the doors, and it was only because I had time to kill at lunch time. Maybe it's the comparision to so many other burger joints in the area..? Either way, I got the New Yorker, as each Smashburger does a regional burger, which is actually really cool. Cheddar, garlic grilled onions, fresh spinach, tomato, and peppercorn garlic aioli, it was just, meh. The burger was slightly unseasoned, the onions were good but lacking in amount, spinach almost non existent, and the aioli was decent, but again, minimal amount. It's almost like they were thinking, we'll put just a smidge of this stuff on, that way they can get a good taste of everything, mostly the burger, buuuut it just didn't work. I also got the fries, ugh, who cuts fries this big?!? They were like Kraft mac n cheese size, come on.. Also, no taste, thank you ketchup invention. BUT, the oreo butterfinger shake, mmmmmmmmmm, delicious. And, what's cool, they give you the extra that was made. Overall, would I steer clear of this place, not necessarily. Would I go out of my way to go here though, nope. read more

Always felt strange writing about chain restaurants, but considering this burger is better than most pub burgers I've ever had, I just couldn't pass it up. We really enjoyed this place. The burgers are really good and the sides are tops. The staff is so pleasant and attentive, the place is clean. The fries! They are perfectly crisp and so addictive! The haystack onions fried crisp with that sauce (similar to bloomin onion sauce) are great too! We will definitely be back. They have a nice sized menu offering salads and chicken as well, so it seems like there is something for everyone. We love the chilled glasses, the service and the not fast-food feeling we got there. read more

I am a long time customer of this particular Smashburger from the moment they opened. When they opened the food was great and the customer service was even better! However.... in more recent months, we have seen a great decline in the customer service skills of this branch. From going in one time where they had a 60 minute wait for food to them not being able to take an order properly without a lot of hand holding. The last time we went in was the last straw. We ordered the brussel sprouts (they're really good actually!) but when the young lady brought them to our table, it was about 2 brussel sprouts cut in thirds. I remarked that this was an absurdly small amount to bring for an order. The young lady brought them back to her manager, Samantha, who looked at them and then told her they were correct and to just bring them back to us. I retorted that I would not want such a small order and asked for a refund. Now that being said, I did not want a refund. I ordered the brussel sprouts because I enjoy them and was looking forward to them. My gambit was that upon hearing this, the manager, Samantha, would realize that her customers were upset and providing a couple of more brussel sprouts was a rather easy and not very costly solution. Instead... Samantha gave the young lady cash to give back to us, which she did without even an apology for the issue. Samantha, the manager, never once spoke with us or acknowledged us in the slightest, instead going on with her business as if everything was great. This is not the Smashburger I used to know and love. If this is the type of service Samantha and Smashburger wish to provide than I will have to take my burger business elsewhere. Be better, Smashburger. Remember who you were and who you still can be. Until then, you won't be seeing me again.... read more

Stopped by on a busy Saturday night when the line was out the front door. Despite the long line, we were out in less than 20 minutes with our takeout order. I ordered the Baja burger featuring guacamole and jalapeño. The burger had good flavor and still had pink in the middle; in other words, perfect. Fries were pedestrian, but the chocolate shake was delicious. I'll give the staff props for busting their asses. The registers, server area and kitchen were all in full view as we waited for our pickup so we could see that everyone was hustling and friendly. Overall good spot for burgers that has an atmosphere and loud noise level typical of a family fast food restaurant. read more

It was my first time at a Smash Burger. I stopped in with the little lady tonight and was pleasantly surprised. It's pretty much good fast food. Great tasting burger. The classic big was a nice size. The bun had good texture and was slightly undersized for the burger. Completed with tomato, red onion, lettuce and cheese. Cheese fries at first glimpse are lacking on the cheese. But as you dig deeper you strike gooey gold. Sweet potato fries are crispy. Many time I get them and they are usually on the limp soggy side. These weren't. Vanilla shake was tasty and just the right thickness. Overall the portions were just right and not too greasy..,,, if that's possible. read more

Smashburger - Big classic with Cheese Fries - Burgers Near Me - Wantagh, New York

It was a cold Saturday night, & me & my crew wanted a quick fix. The kids wanted burgers, so burger night it was! The young kids at the cashier were friendly. My husband & I ordered the truffle burger (naked / bunless). The server approached us & handed in our first burger & I asked her what kind of burger it is. She immediately said "I don't know" & grabbed the bun with her bare hands to look what burger she was serving. I was really surprised, but I noticed also that she is mentally challenged so I told her nicely that we need a replacement for the burger because she touched it with her bare hands. She said "Okay. I will tell the manager." Few minutes later, the manager (who I think was Indian) came out & said angrily "Here's your replacement. Who else needs a replacement burger?! All of you?!!!" My eyeballs popped out & I was furious. First of all, you're in a business where you need all the 4-5 star reviews that you could get for your business to thrive. People nowadays rely on Yelp & other apps to look for restaurants where they would not be disappointed & will have a good dining experience. Well, it doesn't really matter if he was a minority or not, my point is, you shouldn't be treating people like that especially that he's a manager & should be the model employee in their store. I asked for a supervisor & a nice lady with gorgeous blue eyes came out & spoke to me about the incident. She apologized for what had happened & offered a refund. I told her "I don't need a refund. All I want is for you to hear me out that people like him shouldn't be in this kind of business. I don't want anybody getting treated the way we were treated." So my one & only star goes out to the friendly young gentlemen & to the nice lady who understood that a small act of kindness or gesture goes a long way. read more

Very localized businesses for me always merit a harsher review scale since they have the clear advantage of location in a busy world setting I will be more inclined to give them repeat tries. I could literally walk to this location if I wanted too. A steady decline here has been displayed and it's time to air out this dirty laundry (no pun intended). I'm not too sure what happened here exactly but as others have stated it's time to change up the management and have some corporate intervention. This place is constantly understaffed so forget about any "fast food" aspect at peak dining hours. I've been seated, served, and eaten at legitimate restaurants faster then this place. It's just a failure on multiple fronts... there is never more then one register person, there are overworked cooks in the back, and one food runner essentially 99% of the time. I'm guilty of not ordering ahead through the app but that shouldn't be a requirement nonetheless. Just yelling it a bit louder for people in the back who have already listed these complaints... the floor is slick, there are constantly dirty tables, and who knows if they ever clean the area around the soda station. Last visit was embarrassing because half of the digital menu display was a Windows blue screen of death but even when they work they are difficult to read (coming from someone who doesn't wear glasses or need them). Food wise this place is shockingly good to me though. The signature burger, chicken, and hotdogs (when they had them) are more then adequate. Truthfully I would rank it above shake shack by a mile, a little above Bobby flays, and a stylistic decision against beloved five guys. I'm okay paying a bit more because of this but the fries quantity being equivalent to a 90s happy meal for the price of a McDonald's large is disrespectful to consumer intelligence. Meanwhile at five guys they are basically unloading the frier into your bag... So this place is totally let down by management and staff that clearly doesn't care and seedy business practices. Clean this place up figuratively and literally, staff it properly, and update some of the aged aesthetic and this review could change greatly. Not allowing customers when they were once allowed to leave with free re fills of soda and actually not giving them a joke amount of fries would be a nice return to form since they were "once was..". Overall if this chain at shake shacks management, staffing, and look with smash burgers actual food it would be a top player in the game. read more

This place has not been clean since covid started. We don't go here anymore. The worker messed up our order too

I've been here several times every visit has been just fine. The burgers always taste great and the service has been really good....until tonight....... Despite the time of the day, it was hardly packed by any means. I walked on line and had one person in front for me. I ordered, then sat there watching people who came in after me get there food and leave. When my name was finally called 30 minutes late, I received two room temperature burgers. They were messily wrapped with one looking like an over greased pancake that someone sat on. Nope! Unfortunately this was one of those night where I was not having it, and asked for a refund giving the food back. Looking at many other reviews I do agree that this place needs better kitchen management. read more

This place doesn't even deserve one star...Terrible. I tried to call in a pick up order because their website was down. I was on hold in excess of 20 minutes. Decided to go there to place the order to only wait another 35 minutes. This is fast food take out. Clearly the meaning of fast food does not apply here. Then to get home and find my burger had mayo on it and I specifically asked several times to make sure there was no mayo In addition my haystack onions were not a full order. The fried pickles did not come with dipping sauce. Very very very disappointed. Oh I failed to mention....I was there last week and my order was incorrect. Have been here many times and never unhappy with the food or the service- until last night. The place just felt like a mess- tables not clean, wait times too long, etc. We decided to get take out, so I ordered the grilled chicken truffle mushroom and Swiss sandwich with regular fries. After waiting for nearly 15 minutes, our food was ready and we headed home. When I opened my sandwich and took my first bite, I had to spit it back out. The chicken was SO thin and overcooked to the point where I couldn't bite through it. The swiss cheese was burnt to the chicken and there were about 3 mushrooms on the sandwich. I'm not one to complain quickly but had I been eating this in the restaurant, it would have been returned immediately. For $8+, I expect a much higher quality meal. There are plenty of other options for fast food out there, so will be staying away from here for a while. read more

2013 started with a smash. Before the traditional weight watching and calorie counting commences, I decided to start the new year right. I took the g/f to greet our newest neighbors....Smashburger. In my opinion the burgers here are better than five guys'. They are both greasy and unhealthy for you but I just like the flavor and array of choices (from buns to toppings). The smashfries need some improvement though. Even with the addition of rosemary, they are rather plain tasting... would have preferred some zesty waffle fries instead. I'm really having a hard time on reviewing this place and this is a FIRST for me. For food it would be a 4-5 star. Got a truffle mushroom burger, spinach & goat salad with grilled chicken, fried pickles and some smashed sweet potato fries. Was so good and would love to come back Now for the bad news, headquarters needs to send someone down to train these people! It was so bad I wanted to walk out, but said I'm here and would stick it out. The line was out the door. The re was one girl on the register and 2 young kids trying to make shacks that wa painful to watch. After about 20 minutes on line, and not due to the girl on the register, but again it's the manager in charge who obviously needs to be trained, it only got worse on the back side. The gal at the register did awesome in recommending to me from items I was looking to order but unsure. After paying and going around the corner it was bad to worse. The guys calling/checking the food order were just a mess. The one guy was lost and the gal who was I'm assuming to give food to people at the tables was in worse shape, while the 2 doing the shakes were just so messed up it was sad. Oh and did I say it got worse? To of the people in the back were laughing when the front person said several orders were wrong. They thought 2-3 meals were ok to be dumped, yet it was crowded with families and kids waiting over 20 minutes for food. No one was cleaning up and the ice tea was leaking all over. I grabbed paper towels from the ice cream jerk and put it on the counter. To clean the spill. The girl also who was a deer in headlights was so lost. She gave me my order and said here you go, I stepped to the side And the fried pickles were not in the bag. Had to go back to her and she was lost. The guy hadn't finished my order yet she packaged and gave it to me. Everyone that worked ther looked lost except possible what I would call the main line Cook or head cook, other than that this is bad service! The taste do the food is amazing but again, headquarters and owner needs to step up. Also didn't get any salad dressing who does that? And no napkins other than at the tables. If I had to climb over people to get napkins that would have been awful. read more

Well-done Smashburger (pun completely intended.) I literally pass by this place every week and have never walked in. I know it's gotten a lot of hype since opening up in Wantagh. I've tried it's competitors such as Red Robin and Five Guys. And I wasn't sure how they were gonna measure up. But wow, was I impressed! The outside looks very modern, bold and hip. I think the HUGE bold fonted letters make quite the impression. When walking in it was clear I was new. I was looking around like a deer lost in the woods. I noticed that the place was super clean and mod-looking. The menu was plastered on these big flatscreen panels on the wall. The girls working there were very nice and were patient with my overwhelming impression of the place. I'm a foodie at heart. When I'm at a new place I gotta look at EVERYTHING. I love that things are very customizable without the extra cost. You can get a sandwich (beef, veggie or chicken) to the way you like it. Now that's what I call giving the customer what they want! I asked the girl what she likes and got the Grilled Chicken Sandwich Avocado Club. Here was what I put on it: I omitted the Ranch and Mayo. I was feeling kinda a spicy mood so I opted on the spicy chipotle sauce. I also got lettuce, tomato and onion. Classic. On the whole grain bun. I got it to-go...it came out in like 5-10 minutes. Quick! When I brought the sandwich home it was piping hot and delicious. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. It was a well done meal and I have to say what topped it off was that spicy chipotle. It had such a kick. I cannot wait to try the other items on the menu. Next time I'll get the burger and maybe their smash sauce. (Let's take a moment and make a "Goodburger" reference.) I'll be back very soon!!! read more

So I've been here a few times now, and each time I go in the experience gets worse to the point where my previous review no longer seems applicable. The lines can be very long here, and often times I see a single employee working the register while 2 employees are behind him/her chatting away. I understand if they aren't cashiers but if you aren't helping move the line along maybe doing something a little more productive or take taking your break in a less distracting place would be more helpful. And when we take a seat the tables have looked clean but were sticky like soda had been split and then dried. The quality of the burgers seem to range wildly from amazing to under cooked to charred. The shakes are great but be prepared to pay 5 bucks for a drink about the size of a small drink at most fast food places. I hope this place gets its act together. read more

Awful food. Everything is super greasy, even by hamburger and fast food standards. Burger is smashed (obviously) thin and there is no meat and was undercooked. I'm not a big guy and the portion is way too small for me. Overly priced and the sides are even worse. Only thing I liked about meal were the fries. I was left with a nauseous feeling in my stomach and literally a bad taste in my mouth. I hate to be so negative but this place is only a half step above burger king. Five Guys is much much much better. Some negative points: -Everybody's burger was undercooked. -Everything was doused in grease -Watch where you step by bathrooms because the grease is literally caking the floor as you pass the open kitchen -Small portion that is smashed to oblivion. -Fried pickles were only about 5% actual pickle Positives: -The fries were good - They serve beer to help drown out the taste of everything else and if you drink enough you will forget how bad this place is. Don't know what everybody is raving about. I've had better burgers at Applebee's. read more

I'm being generous with my two stars. Have been coming here for years and it used to be great. The food used to be great. The portions, the quality and the service. In the past couple years it has plummeted. Today really far. Ordered the kid smash as I always do. Got cheese, bacon and pickles on it. Had to pay $1.29 extra for the bacon which I have never had a problem doing today. Today I got one slice of bacon on my burger and it was partially raw. Also, the amount of fries was minuscule and the workers were making fun of someone for what they ordered over the phone. What happened Wantagh? Get it back to what it used to be! read more

Good fast food style burger. I like the different options they have for burgers and you can also build your own. I've eaten at smashburger before and I have yet to have a chicken sandwich only a burger so I can't comment on those. BBQ, Bacon and cheddar burger was good and the regular size smash was enough, but I also got fries and a shake. My chocolate shake was good, but came out after I was done eating everything. Sweet potato fries were a nice change from regular fries. Just wish their prices were cheaper. You will most likely spend over $25 for two people to eat and it's fast food style burgers, they are not cooked to your preference. read more

So stopped in just to pick up a few orders of fries, big mistake! This was my second visit, my first was shortly after they opened, so I cut them some slack for being disorganized. Now this visit they've been opened for a while and should have their processes down. Boy was I wrong, this is the most disorganized restaurant I've ever seen. I ordered 5 orders of fries, pickles and a shake. (I know strange order) it took nearly 45 minutes, and that was my hounding them to hurry up and threatening to cancel the order. As far as the food goes, the fries were ok I'd say maybe slightly better than McDonalds, fried pickles were pretty good, shake was excellent. Buffalo fries I wish I could tell you how they were, I ordered them but didn't get them. Will never step foot in here again. Word of advice if there is more than 4 people waiting to order...
