This is a very nice location located at the end of Bloomfield Avenue between Montclair and Glenridge. They have plenty of seating but no designated area for takeout which was a bit disappointing since all other smash burgers I've been to do have it. I got a regular Smashburger with smash fries on the side. It is great that they have the $4.99 all day menu, but I would also be great if the gave the option to make it a combo for a bit or less of whatever it would be to just get the fries on the side. This location matches the flavor of all other locations, which was very appreciated since that's what I expect for chain restaurants. Smashburger has been in our neighborhood for over 10 years, and has been an option for us when we wanted more personal attention than our local burger joint's. Although our local Smashburger in Glen Ridge, NJ in the Glenmont Plaza, Regularly drops the ball in quality And quantity, as of recent, they do make up for it with their customer service. The new female manager goes above and beyond to make sure their customers are happy and satisfied, especially when something goes wrong with their orders, as is often the case! When we have tried to use advertised coupons/deals, IE: Free Veterans Day burgers, many of the past Daytime managers at the store either do not know how to apply the discount or do not honor it correctly. They have had to call the head store manager for directions, and this would usually take quite some time! Additionally, at a recent visit, I received a double bacon cheeseburger which was WAY overcooked almost to the point of being inedible, and there was so little BURNT bacon on the burger I had to contact Smashburger coporate about the situation. This is where an even Bigger Nightmare started! This effort was, at first, met with at LEAST 20 emails back and forth as Smashburger representatives did not understand my complaint / concern! Eventually I was offered JUST A SIDE for my inconvenience, which was not acceptable when I had a problem with a Significantly More Expensive Double bacon cheeseburger and not a side. Then, I was offered a side and a fountain drink! Then, i was offered a side and a milkshake! Again, not the satisfactory resolution I was hoping for. NOT ONLY DID I NEVER RECEIVE THE REPLACEMENT DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER I REPEATEDLY REQUESTED, I NEVER EVEN RECEIVED THE SIDE AND THE SHAKE COUPON!!! THEN, THEY STOPPED RESPONDING TO EMAILS COMPLETELY!!! Also, as No One Ever physically or personally answers their phones, after leaving AT LEAST FOUR THOROUGHLY DETAILED VOICEMAIL MESSAGES WITH CORPORATE GUEST SERVICES, NO ONE EVER called me back, even though their voicemail recording assures callers that ALL messages would be responded to WITHIN 48 hours! My fair and honest advice is for people to skip Smashburger AT ALL COSTS, as the food quality is poor and G-D forbid you need their corporate customer / guest services, their customer / guest service, IT IS NONEXISTENT! This Smashburger location was my first introduction to Smashburger about 11 years ago! I was in the neighborhood this week so i decided to stop by for lunch! To my surprise the place was renovated! The upgrade definitely made the dining room look more open and bright!!! The burgers and fries are still delicious, just smaller than it used to be to be. Get the smash fries! They are tossed in Olive Oil and rosemary and seasoning! Delish!! My meal with a drink came to $15 bucks which is average for todays upscale burger places. Service is still great! Manager Liz runs a great Smashburger restaurant. Always welcoming and clean. She greets the customers warmly as you step up in line to place your order, And is busy staging orders to be picked up and is also going back and forth into the kitchen directing kitchen staff. Today a nice young man named Jonathan took my order, And went right back to helping Liz get things ready. He was happy! Liz was happy. The 2 ladies cooking popped out here and there and were also happy. My burger was cooked perfect with the hot burger being hot and the condiments cold, Fries were cooked great, Cola was fresh not watery, Jonathan came over between bites and asked if everything was ok. He said staff were dealing with a teenage customer, so he was ignored for a little bit until he got someone's attention. For me, I got a Carolina BBQ Burnt Ends burger and Smash Tots. I was a fan of the pulled pork tips and the flavor was good. Overall well balanced flavors in the burger. Tots were good and I ended up sharing them with my partner since his sweet potato fries were mid (good flavor but not crisp). My partner got the Classic Smash Black Bean burger with an added egg and the aforementioned SP fries. He was a fan of the burger saying it was better than he expected it would be. I came to Smashburger for the first time and I was not disappointed! My mom and sister have been raving about this place for years now and I finally tried it. The restaurant was very clean and not busy at all. The staff was very friendly and gave us suggestions. We ordered the Colorado burger (single), half scorching hot tenders and half regular, sweet potato fries and an Oreo milkshake. Our milkshake came out right away and it was delicious ... the cookie chunks at the end were my favorite part. Then we received our food but had to request sauces instead of the staff, which I'm glad we dined in or else we would've had dry items. I loved the cheese on the burger and the spice. You know, I think the service here is pretty good, as in the food doesn't take too long and the cashier is always friendly. I have been getting coupons in the mail lately, and their prices may be slightly on the higher side, but the coupon helps and if you complete their survey on the receipt, you can get a side of the rosemary smash fries for free next time. I got the bacon avocado club burger, which combines my favorite things, avocado and bacon (and ranch dressing). The burger was bigger than the bun, so they aren't stingy with the meat side. I got the larger rosemary fries so I could meet the minimum for my coupon, and it was a lot of fries, don't recommend that much for one person. I like the taste of the rosemary fries and it's a unique item. For parking, the lot is pretty big, so parking shouldn't be a problem and getting into it shouldn't be a problem, but getting out, if you want to make a left, only one of the exits allows you to and if there's a lot of traffic, you can be waiting a while. Once I went right and around the block because I was tired of waiting for clearance. So I'd recommend this location, it's a good-tasting burger. read more

Where do I begin. I am disappointed and appalled smashburger in Montclair! I ordered 3 shakes, which came to $7 after tax. All 3 shakes came in a 16 oz cups. Upon sticking my straw I the cup I noticed it felt off. My excitement was cut short as I opened the lids to see each shake was only half filled. Once I seen that, I took out my measuring cup just to confirm that there was only 9 ounces of product in each cup. This is a rip off, misleading, and disappointing. I called the Montclair store to complain about my order. The employee that answered was kind and apologetic but said this is how horrible smashburger is with customers and that's how smashburger shakes come. It's a fast food restaurant,so the food is pretty much the same no matter which location you choose. The only problem is this spot is incredibly slow. I can't the number of times I've ordered something online and still had to wait 15-20 minutes once I got there. Yesterday was no different. I ordered my food online at 6:43 pm, arrived to the restaurant at 7 pm and by 7:10, it still wasn't ready. The people around me were all upset because they had been waiting for their food for 30-40 minutes. The cooks looked like they were having a party in the kitchen, so the manager had to give them a warning and go help them make the food. This is a busy, popular location. Smash Burger in Glen Ridge is terrible. We ordered from Gubb Hubb and it took an hour to be delivered. Besides that, when we received the food, the package was tiny and I ordered a $4 bottle of soda and it's was missing. We noticed that the bag looked slightly opened and when we got the food, there was no drink and the food was eaten out of. We called the driver and she said that she didn't get any drinks and that they're not allowed to open the bag to see what's inside. We called the restaurant and they wanted us to go to them to pick the drink up and we told them that that's why we ordered for delivery, because it's freezing out. We shouldn't have to go out just for a drink. Restaurant said that they hand all drivers the drinks, so that it wouldn't be forgotten.
