The burger had a great taste. But for the size of the burger especially when it clearly states on the menu BIG. It yet it was of average size. The deep fried pickles when something of an okay taste. As I ordered a shake I assumed that I would get it before my burger but it was not. In fact I had to go to the cashier as he got it from the cooler. Plus I was supposed to be served my food to my table. And instead I had to get it myself. But overall quality of the burger was good. Excellent burgers. Our family comes here as a treat, it is a bit spendy for burger fare. The fried pickles and what we call "shoe string" fries are our favorite sides. Burgers are OK, but so overpriced for what you get (regular is tiny!). I can go to a proper sit down restaurant and get a better burger for same price to cheaper when you account for side dish. A friend told me I had to stop in on my way through Fargo, and I'm glad we did. I got the Avacado club burger and it was delicious. I loved the smash fries, they were seasoned perfectly. My only issue was the Avacado on my burger was black. I had to ask for fresh Avacado. They were really apologetic and replaced it right away. Other than that we loved it, and will probably be back again. Also, the table service condiments hadn't been restocked since lunch so we had to ask for ketchup, but they grabbed it right away. read more

Also, the service at smashburger was also excellent. The lady behind the counter was very friendly an they checked back many times to ensure that we were enjoying our meal. Arrived and the line was pretty short which was nice. For a weekend, everything else was pretty busy so we were glad we didn't have to wait long. The credit card machine wasn't working when we went, which was kind of a pain but we had cash so it wasn't too big of an issue. I ordered a North Dakota burger and my husband got BBQ Bacon Cheddar burger. The sides we got were deep fried pickles and regular french fries. The food was a little pricey, but it was easy to see why. We waited only about 10 minutes for our burgers and sides and everything was fresh and hot when it came out. The staff was all very upbeat and clean and well groomed, I think that makes a great difference. My husband mentioned in passing that they forgot to put the BBQ on his burger, but he didn't ask to have it fixed because he loved it the way it was. The sides had a little bit of excess grease on them that didn't look like it had been shaken off after being pulled from the fryer, but we just patted them down, no big deal. The burgers were amazing. I would say one of the best burgers I have had. They were worth the money. We will definitely return when we visit Fargo again. Really great burgers!! Had BBQ Bacon burger on egg bun and was super juicy!! Had the smash fries and would not ever order them again. It has always been a good experience for me at SmashBurger. I've been there about a dozen times now and the place is always very clean and has friendly service. The food is excellent. My favorite burger in town. Their Smashfries are unique and very tasty. You can find french fries all over town, but this type is only found here and must be tried at least once. On 12-14-2013 I visited SmashBurger for lunch with my sons because I had a "buy one get one free" burger coupon and we were in the mood for hamburgers. I don't remember what kind of hamburger I had but when I took my first bite I noticed the hamburger was still red (raw) in the middle. I took it back to the cashier and showed them my under cooked hamburger. I told them that eating under cooked hamburger is not safe and that I would like them to make me another one and cook it all the way through this time. The cashier told me that they cook the meat to a certain temperature, I don't remember the degree number they said. Then they said that next time I should special order my hamburger to be cooked "well done" to make sure it is cooked all the way through. I agreed and waited for my replacement hamburger. When they brought me my new hamburger I bit into it and it was cooked more of the through than my first hamburger but this one was still pink in the middle and not cooked all the way through like I special ordered it. Since I wasn't going to get a hamburger cooked brown all the way through here today I decided to eat the parts that were fully cooked and I threw the rest away. An extra observation I made is that both hamburgers were very greasy which makes me wonder how lean their hamburger is. Since there are many other restaurants in town that make hamburgers and know how to cook them all the way through, I will likely visit those places the next time I'm in the mood for a hamburger. A few good things I can say about this place is that they have free refills for the fountain drinks and the french fries are good. My son enjoyed his chocolate shake too. read more
