Great burgers! Food was excellent...best fries too! Staff is friendly and helpful. Food was served fast too, no long wait. Looking forward to going back. read more

I went back to give it another chance since I live so close. The main purpose of this update is to compare Five Guys to Smashburger, but I have to start by saying I felt rushed to place my order and there was no one behind me. I got the same plain burger and fries at each place with a soda. I'm not rating special sauces because I feel that's a personal choice and their main purpose is to disguise poor quality meats like Burger King and McDonald's. Menu-Smashburger Burger-Five Guys Fries-Five Guys Onion Rings-Even The first thing I noticed is the menu, Smashburger has more to choose from, but since I don't eat fast food often, this doesn't affect me. I just want a good burger when I'm in the mood. The meat quality and flavor at both places was very good. The double burger at Five Guys fit on the bun nicely. When asked, I told the girl at Smashburger I wanted the regular bun. I'm not sure what they gave me, but it was too much bread for the burger. The meat was very thin and hung outside the bun about 3/4" all the way around. I broke off the exposed meat and doubled it up inside the bun when I got to the 2nd half. That helped, but it was still lost in the bread. The fries at Five Guys are outstanding! They seem like natural potatoes. Smashburger's fries are very, very thin. Burger King and McDonald's fries blow Smashburger's away. Five Guys doesn't have onion rings. Smashburger's are nasty, greasy and tough. They call them Haystacks. Final Note-Be careful if you ask for fried onions on your burger, they wanted to put those greasy haystacks onions on my friend's burger. I don't think I'll go back, I'd rather drive out to Rt 22 and get a great burger and fries at Five Guys for the same money. read more

I've eaten at smash burger in the airport before and it wasn't bad. This time we ordered online, order was ready on time. But burgers were mediocre at best, we will not go back. read more

Smash Burger does their best to deliver food quick and correctly. They do a great job of that and do not often mess up! Only a few times they may give you the wrong order but they usually have very great service. It is a nice environment and is located in a comfy spot between A smoothie shop and Blaze Pizza. Food is delicious and so is their attitude. Everyone takes their jobs seriously! read more

Three stars only because Jason was HOT ! And not to mention courteous lol. No seriously the food was mediocre. How do you mess up a strawberry shake ? Seriously a simple strawberry shake. It was super nasty , the staff was friendly although my food was horrible. Fries were cold. My food was not hot at all. But I'm willing to give another try maybe in a few months. Don't let me be discouraging to anyone wanting to go there. I got the avocado bacon chicken club and spicy buffalo fries. Those are great menu items when they are hot. read more

Great Burger, cooked just right, meat to bun ratio perfect. I will definitely be a regular, best quick service Burger around. The milkshakes being made looked very good and will try one next time. Good service read more

I like the brand but definitely not this location. Their workers have the worst attitude. I stood in line for 10 min while one person made shakes. 2nd person comes up doesn't say hi or even thanks for the order, just hands me the receipt. Should send undercover boss there. Really terrible training for customer service. These employees seemed to hate their job. read more

UPDATE: I went this week and I was less impressed. My burger was good, but it was average for Smashburger whereas last week was fantastic. They also got my fries wrong as well as my friends. We ordered large Smash fries but got plain. We got them exchanged, but in both cases they seemed to be giving out less fries than I'v had in the past at other locations. Like I said, it's still good, but this location was average this time rather than the standout they were last time. --- FIRST REVIEW: Couldn't be happier. I've been to a couple other Smashburgers and this one was the best tasting I've had yet. Everything tasted fantastic. It was honestly one of the best burgers I've ever had. It can get a little crowded since it's brand new, but I still got my food quickly. I'm really happy this place opened up. read more

Wouldn't come again. Way too expensive for the Lil amount of so so food you get. Wasn't impressed at all with the food. Staff isn't friendly either. Fruit fly flying around me right now read more

Not impressed. Very pricey. Food tasted good but I'd prefer 5 Guys definitely. Not much to talk about. My friend had the Avacado Club burger and I had mushroom grilled chicken we shared large fries and 2 drinks which came out to almost $30. I also left still a bit hungry, oh well, live and learn. read more

The food was good and the salted caramel milkshake was brilliant! But the best part was definitely the service. Our cashier and waitress, Isabella, was very friendly and so helpful in accommodating our requests! read more

Great place! Super clean! Staff is extra friendly! I had the Black Bean Burger, it was amazing! Loved every bite of it! The combination of the black bean patty and the avocado with the ranch dressing is just on point. Ordered the sweet potatoe fries and they were incredible! read more

Smashburger - Yunmy black bean burger - Burgers Near Me - Clark, New Jersey

Awful service. The staff let a broken shelf fall on a kid, and then put the shelf back without even apologized. The smash burger is lucky it's not under a lawsuit. read more

Best burger in Nj as compared to burger king and that stuff. Taste is worth price. Fries are crispy too.

Went here to pick up dinner last night with my boyfriend. We both ordered burgers and smash fries. While we waited for our food I realized how filthy the entire place was. There was food on the floor and the counter space where the workers prepared shakes and orders was littered with wrappers and uneaten food. The table we sat down at to wait and surrounding tables were sticky and littered with half eaten food and used napkins. I noticed the server pulling forks out of the holder by the part you put in your mouth. My boyfriend went to the bathroom as an employee was leaving the bathroom to find weed all over the toilet seats. And worst of all me and my boyfriend have been running to the bathroom every hour to throw up. So if you like a Smashburger with stoned employees who don't care how they represent the place their working at or themselves, low low low cleanliness standards, and a nice case of food poisoning you'll love this one. read more

Stale food for a place that prides itself on freshly made. Things have gone downhill from when it opened so perhaps they are struggling and cutting corners as a result. read more

No thanks, never again. Burger and fries were ok, chocolate shake was blah, staff WOW, girl handed me my shake with an attitude, i didn't think I ordered the attitude with that. Staff looked a little to sketchy for me. Rather get burger and fries from White Diamond in clark down the street, way better. read more

Their quality is not consistent. Last time I went my burger was super dry and overcooked. Tasted horrible and I couldn't finish it. Prediction: After Noodles & co closed in the strip mall, this will be the second food place to close. read more

It's good for a chain. I still prefer pub burgers but my wife wanted to go there. I had a good burger with jalapeños on it. I would go again but it's not my first choice. read more

Went to the Clark location for the Chicken Smashburger after having had a great meal at a different location on Saturday. To my chagrin, there were three strands of hair in the middle of the sandwich. At first I thought it was a strand of the fried onions. Took another bite, hair #2. Was able to retrieve n save. And then got hair # 3. Put some hair nets on! I guarantee you someone else had to have experienced this tonight! read more

A little trouble redeeming coupons. Mostly worked out after discussion with manager.

Wow . . . this place sucks. We placed an order from them over DoorDash and they got it completely wrong. Tried to call three times and twice the answering machine said they were closed. The first time, the person hung up on us. This is No Way to run a business. You're taking your chances if you order from this establishment!! read more

This is our go to takeout burger place. I usually have the California burger but sometimes opt for the bean burger. Both are excellent over many visits. Never a bad burger. Fries and haystack onions are good too. read more

Great burgers with great char, flavorful and juicy. Fries are freshly cut which is a huge plus!

Not a fast food eater anymore, probably haven't eaten at a fast food place in years- first time in Smashburger. I ordered a spicy jalapeño beef burger; my wife ordered a black bean salad. On the good side, both meals were tasty and we both liked having the meal brought to the table. We didn't have to stand around waiting for the order to be filled. It felt a little more like a real restaurant. On the bad side, my order was for the large burger. I thought they made a mistake and gave me the small size until I saw the small size. For what they charge, I think the portion size should be more. Second, there was 1 line for ordering which makes for a good sized backup during busy times. For one, as mentioned, we were first timers so we had questions. But, at least we checked out the menu while waiting. There were others who hadn't bothered to decide until they got to the front of the line. I guess we were lucky they didnt pay by check. There's got to be a better way read more

I was here when it first opened...I couldn't been happier to have this place closer to me then going to Menlo. I was disappointed couldn't have the birthday shake there since it's a new location. The grilled chicken I had the first time had so much pepper on it I wiped it off with a napkin. The shakes are wonderful and are good. I love the birthday shake so like I said before I'm disappointed this one didn't have the July special. The Oreo is just as good. read more

Food is OK - but service is slow and can be incompetent. Also, staff does not understand how app works or how customer can use.

Such great food and service from this smashburger! I can't wait to come back again!! good job guys keep it up!

The last two times I've been here I found it to be very dirty. Most recently there were flies all over the place to the point that we couldn't eat our food. It was annoying and disgusting. And to top it off, my wife found a hair at the bottom of her salad bowl. Love Smashburgers food but won't be back at this location read more

Small portions for not cheap. Fries Suck. Burgers are just ok

My wife and I have been visiting this S.B. since it opened but lately the service and food quality have gone way down. Orders are almost always wrong and last three times we have eaten there the burgers were burnt. Now my wife doesn't want to eat there anymore. Guess I have to drive miles out of my way to find another location. read more

My first visit to a Smashburger of any kind today at the Clark, NJ, location was just average. The burger was smaller/thinner than I expected it would be (and look nothing like the pictures), and it was so hard/burned at the edges that it hurt my teeth to eat. I saw that the fries were shoe string fries and hoped they would be sort of like how steak frites would taste a la French bistros...but they were not anything like that at all, unfortunately. The fries were tasteless and stale (they were wilted and not fresh by the time I got home with them 15 min later). Five Guys, Urban Burger (Cranford), and even Wendy's burgers are so much tastier. Not sure I will be coming back. read more

I work at a neighboring establishment in Clark Commons and there have been multiple times when, while taking out the garbage, employees hanging out on their smoking break will harass my fellow employees and myself. I do not plan setting foot in Smashburger knowing that they hire people who spend their free time harassing teenagers while smoking. read more

I recently ordered 4 burgers from here and two were severely under cooked. The burgers were so bad they were almost raw. With all the other burger places in union county, it's safe to say I will not be back. Buyer beware! read more

Meh. Over priced and much better options available in the area (loaded burger or even across the street at O'briens). Baja burger was over powered with gobs of guacamole. Didn't even realize their was cheese or anything else. Fries are tiny, actually little funny they are so small. large fries are really only enough for one person. read more

forgot to order fries and approached the manager... she said i need to queue again where the line is long... take note there's only 1 cashier and the next pos is open... she could have rung me up read more

Great burger place - and the chicken sandwiches aren't bad either. Friendly, prompt and accurate service, clean tables, good choices.

I ate there twice and twice they got my order wrong. The first time, the bun was soaked in oil and the fries were cold. They gave us new fries and a new bun. The second time, the fries were dripping in oil, the chicken was dripping in oil and they gave me the wrong chicken sandwich. They can't get anything right, they don't drain anything before putting the oily mess on your plate, and I heard the cook tell the waiter "You must be f...ing kidding me" when he brought someone else's plate back because the order was wrong, and there were little kids sitting right by the area with their parents. Lousy food, lousy serve and a rude cook - don't waste your money. read more

I just went to Smashburger in Clark. They completely screwed up my order which I discovered once I got home. Upon my return to correct the problem I found my burger waiting in the counter. When I asked for a fresh order of haystacks, you would have thought I'd asked for a kidney. They said it would be 5 minutes. I found the attitude overbearing, boorish and unprofessional. It was their error and the least they could have done was acted like it and apologized. Which never happened. The poor hostess was left holding the bag for the kitchen's mistake that I almost didn't post this complaint. I feel all to go orders should be checked before leaving in order to avoid mistakes such as this. read more

We decided to try this place as soon as it opened. Staff was pleasant and responsive but the ambiance was not. the Management came to the table to ask if things were ok. While the food was ok; I told him we would not be back. They built that complex with no ceiling, its metal with those big pipes overhead going to their vent/ductwork system. everything was metal and everything was hard-scaped. There was no noise sounding abatements at all and the sounds just bounced all over the place. My stomach was doing a tap dance during the meal from all the surrounding noise and that wasn't including the piped-in music. we ended up trying the food; and while my companion said he's eaten at Smashburger before, we both ended up leaving half our meals. I ate a hot dog as that had flavors I know of. I will not patronize this place because they don't have a 'average-joe/plain jane" menu and the noise inside was unbearable. I say everyone should give it a try; some may love it, I just didn't read more
