The worst burger place with absolutely unwelcoming owner and staff I can see why this place has horrible ratings. I like giving business to local restaurants but this one just left a bad taste in my mouth. I ordered burgers and milkshakes through grub-hub and the restaurant called and told me they were out of milkshake so I said ok no worries just let grub-hub know and credit back what I did not receive and they said ok we ll do it. I received my food and no Refund so I called the restaurant and spoke to the owner and he told me he did not have the time to do it. So I have to call them and do it on my own. So I called grubhub and they said they can't do anything if the restaurant does not communicate with grubhub. So I called the restaurant and the owner pretty much told me to F off. Wow! This Smashburger is amazing. We came with our 2 year old, Jerry who is the chef made her a grilled cheese even though it isn't on the menu, and she loved it! The entire staff was so sweet and accommodating. One of our favorite dining experiences to date. We will definitely be back!! read more

We came here for the first time because the one downtown was blocked off tonight because of the parade. They didn't have any Turkey burgers, our order didn't come out as we ordered, and one order came out after we were all almost finished with our meals. It was a kids meal too, so it shouldn't have taken that long. They clearly forgot about it. And when the food was finally delivered to the table, it was just dropped off, no apology for the wait or acknowledgement that they messed up. We won't be coming back. Wish I could give no stars. I came home from working work for 14 hours. My wife and I decided to order smash burger. I always only order the haystack onions. My wife got chicken tenders and fries. My order was confirmed. Delivery driver picked it up and was on his way. I couldn't wait to get my food, eat, and go to bed because I have another 14 hour shift tomorrow. The driver arrives and tells me "they wanted me to tel you they didn't have one of your items" and points to a little handwritten note on the receipt. My food was excluded. No phone call as soon as they realized. No message through grub hub. Nothing at all. So I wasted this time waiting for food only to end up with nothing. It's also too late to order anything else. It would take to long to arrive, and I need to go to bed to be able to work again tomorrow. Every single other place I have ever ordered from has called IMMEDIATELY if they were out of an item. If they had called me right away I could have ordered from somewhere else. When I tried to call the store to ask wtf they didn't answer. They're just a bunch of incompetent workers there. I've done the hard work eating here so you dont have to. If you are looking for a burger, keep looking. If you must go here, pay with a credit card so you can dispute the charge later. The scene: A late Sunday afternoon. The place was packed with people either waiting for service or waiting for food. A general mood of frustration, impatience and disgust pervades the dining room. 15 minutes waiting in line and a young man appeared to take our order. We sit. 15 minutes after that I noticed two chocolate shakes sitting on the counter unattended. I decided to ask if these belonged with my order. Sure enough they did! So, its a sort of desert in reverse kind of place I guess. Had I known I would have gone to get them sooner as they had gotten near to room temp. 10 minutes after we had finished our shakes the burgers arrived. Fries however had to be returned as they had gone cold. (We've invested 40 minutes of our lives at this point, so we're committed if nothing else). The Fare: The Smashburger Classic is a tribute to no frills mediocrity. A largely tasteless, luke warm notion of a burger patty slathered in a 'special' sauce with lettuce, pickle and bun. Served cool. Eventually. I need to meet the investors in this chain soon as possible as these are clearly people who play fast and loose with their money and I want a piece! You will notice a trend in reviews here regarding slow service. Also note that manager Lexi's bids to make up for service shortcomings go from personalized to a cut/paste approach. Wow. It will be a long time before I go here again. Not only do I believe I was overcharged, it took forever to get my food. They seemed rather disorganized. I watched customer after customer who ordered after me get their food and leave. When I questioned why, I was told, with an attitude, it was because I ordered a grilled chicken to be added to the Cobb salad I ordered. Seriously! Then when I questioned my bill the kid who tried to explain it to me was not very clear, even he couldn't understand how my order was rung up and then said, well okay, here's your food. At that point I was so aggravated that I took my food and left. Finally, you are over priced for the quality and quantity of the food received. Arrived at 9:38 pm and the door was locked. A Door dash driver arrived at the same time, so they opened the door and myself and another customer asked if they were still open. The (employee/manager??) Said in a loud sarcastic voice, "Sure, why not?" Then slammed the door open. As we entered he yelled to someone in the back "Turn the grill back on! These folks are hungry!" Continuing with the sarcastic tone. The staff in the back were cleaning the grill, and stopped what they were doing, threw their hands up in the air, and came up to work the register. I ordered thru GrubHub three burgers. A plain double beef, an avocado burger and a turkey burger. Shortly after I placed the order Charles called me to confirm that I wanted a plain double beef as he wanted to get it correct. I appreciated the call and the correct order! At least two out five orders are wrong from some of the other burger joints even ordering in person where it's so easy to confirm the order and sometimes even when they confirm the order. We have gone to this place many times and each time it gets worse. Today I had placed an online order; however, when I walked in I was told that they weren't taking any orders. This was at 4:30 pm. I told the woman I was there to pick up an online order. She finally asked what name the order was under. I told her and she told the woman who was cooking the fries that she needed 2 orders of Haystack Onions to complete my order. The woman snarled that they were out of Haystack Onions and that I needed to choose something else. I told her that I would take an order of Smashfries and an order of regular fries. I came to this restaurant tonight & ordered an avocado burger and a lemonade, I received the lemonade & sat down to wait for my order. After waiting almost 20min, I went to check on my order, the cashier then told me that they didn't know I ordered a burger, & just let me wait there like an idiot! Opening day. One of the worst experiences I have had. Ordered Baja Burger with mushrooms (charge extra), double brisket burger, and smash fries. Baja burger came out cold, and they are very stingy with the mushrooms (only had 5 pieces, and the extra mushrooms costs $1.49). I was given a brisket burger that was cold;however it wasn't even mine as the server brought out my order, when I was already half way finished with the burger I thought that was mine. The fries were the only good thing about this place. Maybe it's the curse of opening day, but I probably won't dine in again until the staff gets their stuff together. We were hopeful about trying Smashburger for our first time at their new location in the Edens Collection shopping strip on Foster Ave. The menu looked promising and this location is very close for us. Unfortunately our experience was a complete flop. I submitted our online order and got a message that it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. I gave it a bit more time than that, but I waited there a long time and it took over 45 minutes to be completed. I was concerned as I waited since the kitchen operation appeared chaotic and they were busy fixing wrong orders. By the time I finally got my order I had no confidence it would be completed correctly, and sure enough when I got home it was a mess. I had ordered extra items to my burger (at a cost) including avocado, grilled mushrooms, and grilled onions and spicy mustard. None of these were on my burger, though the label for the package showed everything and I was fully charged for these items. And, the burger was cold. I don't mean not very hot, I mean COLD cold. The 2 orders of fries were carelessly dumped and spilled out in the bag, and they were cold too. Overall the staff seems poorly trained, disorganized, and incompetent. I've seen the management's stock response to similarly negative reviews, so I would ask, don't bother. I'm not interested in contacting management or having any attempt to rectify this. Placed an online order, when I got there they said they just got my order on their screen because there's usually a delay. I asked them how long they said about 15 minutes. When I got notification that my order was ready, I went to pick it up, waited about 10 minutes for someone to even talk to me. When I told them I was picking up my order, they gave me 2 bags of items I didn't order, so I told them I got the wrong order. So they FINALLY asked me my name and then said they didn't have my order. They were actually giving me Jose's order which was way more items than mine. I tried to ask them how they could not have my name when they confirmed that they just got my order and then I got the notification that my order was ready. The manager could not care less, she just insisted that they didn't have my order and told me I wasn't charged for it. I called grub hub and they confirmed that my credit card was charged but grub hub cancelled the order and issued a refund. Also, as I was waiting outside for my order, I saw a bag fall from the counter, fries spilled out of the bag and sandwich on the floor. The person taking care of the orders handed the sandwich back to the back and asked them to re-wrap in a different paper because it fell on the floor. The same gloved hands that received the sandwich that fell on the floor, unwrapped the sandwich, held it in his gloved hands and put a new paper wrapping on it. YIKES! Very unsanitary. In hindsight, now I'm kinda glad I didn't get food from there because that's food poisoning waiting to happen. read more
