I love their burgers. So it's fast food but it's a higher scale of fast food compared to like a McDonald's or Burger King. The server was very friendly and even gave us more fries. The front of the house service was a joke. It seemed as though the two people working, guy and gal, wanted to be anywhere else. 03/08/23 - The last time I was here it took about 20 mins to get my double cheddar brisket bacon burger. This time I got the burger in about 5 minutes. This burger comes w/double hamburgers, brisket, cheddar cheese & bacon. Last time I feel like the burger was better. The brisket wasn't brisket in the sense that it was cooked super tender. Totally recommend Smashburger! This place has amazing food, amazing milkshakes and it was super filling . I have about 3 examples of why the employees were amazing! First off, when they brought me my milkshake, they brought me the extras that couldn't fit in the actual cup they brought for me! And, when another family came in, a small child, maybe 3 or 4, asked if they could make the TV show bluey, they actually changed it for the kid! The ambiance + the logo was super cool and it was cool. Everything was textured and looked really nice, like it wasn't a burger joint but a fancy Italian restaurant. I am writing to report an upsetting and unacceptable experience that occurred at your 4709 W Foster Ave, Chicago, IL 60630 on May 16th 2025 around 8:00 pm. What should have been a simple and pleasant visit for a meal turned into a stressful and disrespectful encounter--specifically due to the behavior of the elderly white male manager on duty. Here's what happened: I placed an order that included two large fries and three fountain drinks. Before completing the payment, I realized I had ordered too many drinks, so I asked for the three large fountain drinks to be canceled. The original employee who took my order was polite and helpful, but it appeared he wasn't authorized to process the refund or make changes to the order. He called over the manager to assist. The manager, tall older white man, attempted to make the cancellation before I finished the payment, but he seemed to be struggling with the system. I apologized for the inconvenience and said, "I'm sorry, I didn't know this was this difficult." He quietly mumbled something that sounded like "whatever." At the time, I wasn't completely sure what he said because he spoke under his breath--but his frustration became much more obvious shortly afterward. After I paid and received the receipt, I noticed that instead of canceling the three drinks, one of my large fries had been canceled instead. I pointed this out and asked for a refund for the three fountain drinks that I never received--and had asked to be removed from the beginning. Rather than resolving the issue respectfully, the manager responded with an attitude, asking me sarcastically, "Do you want three large drinks to go?" I reiterated that I had never wanted the drinks in the first place and had clearly asked for them to be removed. His tone and demeanor were dismissive and rude. What made this experience even more frustrating was that the original employee--who remained kind and clearly felt bad for us--ended up giving my mother-in-law $10 out of his own pocket to try and make things right. We greatly appreciated his effort, but we did not think it was appropriate for an employee to have to personally cover the cost of a management mistake. Out of principle, my mother-in-law ( older black lady ) returned the money to him before we left. As she was leaving, the manager, shouted at her: "Get the f** out of here."* This was shocking, vulgar, and completely inappropriate behavior from anyone--especially a manager. This kind of treatment is not only unprofessional, it's unacceptable. We were calm, respectful, and simply trying to fix a clear error with our order. We expect to be treated with the same courtesy and professionalism we extended. read more

Walked in and noone was at the registers so I thought there was some automatic ordering machines. Turns out the cashier was around the corner putting orders together. She comes out and takes my to go order: One classic smash burger and fries. The family behind me ordered three meals and sat down. If my own family wasn't waiting in the car I wouldn't have cared that the other family got their food ahead of me nor would I have cared that I waited for at least 20 minutes for fast food. Where do I even begin? We were stoked to try Smashburger despite the low ratings at this location. But since it was close to our AirBnb, we took a chance and came here for dinner. When we walk in, there was no one at the register. We didn't mind since my group was looking at the menu anyways. After a few minutes, a girl walks out from the kitchen and stands at the register. No greeting. No smile. Just a stare. Maybe she was new there but I had to repeat my order a few times before she entered it into the POS. There was an older gentlemen in the kitchen cooking and he was obviously stressed or overworked; throwing unprofessional comments out loud while making burgers. The food was decent for a fast food chain tho. To start off, this place has plenty of parking available. Walking in during lunch time the restaurant wasn't too busy. I was pretty excited to try this place since they had just opened. I ordered a cheeseburger with a side of fries and my friend ordered a classic chicken sandwich with onion rings. The food took a while for them to cook so my expectations were pretty high. The cheeseburger was good, but I wouldn't say there was anything special about the burger. The fries were also a bit unseasoned and could probably have used more salt or seasoning that they add on. The chicken sandwich I must say was not good at all. It was really dry inside and out/ either it was very overcooked or it was just old chicken. The onion rings as opposed to the fries were over seasoned and was really salty for my liking. Welcome welcome! I am more than happy that I can enjoy this burger when I am in the area. I decided to stop by and support them. Oh they are busy. It is clean, nicely decorated joint. I enjoyed classic cheeseburger but they have plenty gourme options. You can choose between Double Bacon smash, Colorado burger, Turkey burger , Truffle mushroom burgers.. options are endless as it seems. Atmosphere is more than inviting and they even gave me a little present of their signature seasoning. Isnt that cute?! I love when someone have personal touch. They also serve shakes made with Haagen Dasz ice cream as well as Breakfast sandwiches. I love how they had amazing vibe, great music and smiles on their face. This has now been open for a week and it's still a nightmare of a nightmare place. I ordered a burger, drink, and fries. It took over 45 minutes from ordering to get my food. At the 30 minute mark, I went back into the place and complained. They apologized and said "we're busy". They also offered to get my food to go. I also found out that they forgot to give me a drink so I went to with my cup to get something and all non carbonated drinks except ice tea was broken. The reason why the place gets two stars is the food was hot and generally good. It's not so good to be wait 45 minutes for, but the burger was good. They really need to get their act together or this place is not going to survive. This is not going to cut it for this area. EDIT: I did reach out to the email given below in the owner response. In return, I got a pretty generic apology and to just give somebody's name to get a free burger. I work in Customer Experience and this is by far the weakest response I have seen to a complaint. My first visit was a tad disappointing. At 5p there were only 2 people working that could be seen. I ordered at the counter and initially, things were ok even though the cashier appeared new (wasn't sure how to do certain functions). After ordering and paying, I realized my order was wrong. After getting back in line, I let the same cashier know the order was wrong. He quickly told the other employee to make the correct item which is appreciated. Cashier told me the item I wanted and the item he rang up were the same price. After getting my food, I discovered that items are a la carte, not meals. That's fine, but since I wasn't asked if I wanted sides I assumed it came with. After looking over the menu to see what I possibly did wrong or missed, I discovered the item I ordered was about $4 less than the item that was rang up. On the bright side, the food was good. First, the person that fills the bag with fries does so without thinking about the time before the burger gets packed. (Checking reviews, this is common and an irritation shared by their customers) By doing this, the side will always be cold if it has to wait for the main. This time went with the Truffle mushroom Swiss double. Wanted a milk shake and some chicken wings for sharing. Ice cream was out and so were any offerings of chicken. Hmm, bummer. The burger and fries were not worth the wait. The burger was tasteless. All a good burger really needs is the right amount of seasoning. Even just pepper and salt can make ground meat sing. I hate to give this place a bad review because they're too close to where I live and I want them to do well. But, I have to be honest and give the the future customers a heads up. Me and my son came here on a Saturday afternoon. They weren't too busy. Maybe about 15 customers inside. We placed our orders: two burgers and fries. While we were waiting for our food, a lady brought her burger to the counter and complained that they got her order mixed up. Then five minutes later, a gentleman checked on his order. I guess he's been waiting for a long time. And then, another lady came to the register counter and also complained that their order was also mixed up. I looked at my watch and noticed that we've been waiting there for more than 20 minutes!! We finally got our food and while we were heading home, my son told me that the Smash Burger manager yelled at him and his friends when they went to that restaurant last summer. He told me that the manager ( white male, maybe in his 60's, and long gray hair) kicked out two of his friends because they brought their food (Chipotle) inside the restaurant while my son and his other friend bought burgers from Smash Burger. I should tell you that my son and his friends were only about 13 years of age!! They're kids who goes to a Catholic school not too far from this place! The manager could've ask them nicely that they couldn't bring outside foods inside his restaurant instead of yelling at them.. Very poor management skills and bad customer service. My review is just based upon the food itself because I've only ordered online and haven't eaten in the restaurant. So I have no idea what the restaurant itself is like or how the service is. As for the food it's better than good (maybe great), definitely one of the best burgers I've had and the best fast food restaurant burgers I have had. The burgers taste fresh (I doubt they freeze them), they are on the thin side (which is good and the way I like), flavor is good, the buns are good and bacon crispy. So It's pretty much perfect for a burger. After a series of unfortunate events, my airpod case fell while by the soda machine. While I was able to recover the case, and left airpod, the right one was definitely lost in the sticky depths of the unknown on the floor under the fountain drink dispenser. After a few embarrassing attempts to retrieve the airpod myself... I realized I was going to have to pay $100 for the replacement. But then... employee Melany saw my struggle and grabbed a broom and tried to fish it out for me. A couple of minutes later the restaurant music cut out and the proprietor was also on all fours trying to find the airpod too. After 10 solid minutes, the airpod I thought was surely lost forever slithered out of the furthest possible corner of the floor. I couldn't be more thankful.
