I found SmartStop through Sparefoot while searching for storage units in Vegas, and this location ticked all the boxes. I've used storage units before, and I'm used to limited gate hours (usually cutting off at 6 PM), so I was surprised and impressed that this one allows access until 10 PM. That flexibility really worked with my schedule. What I was looking for was pretty specific: a ground-floor unit, air-cooled, and secure. SmartStop delivered. I called and scheduled a tour and met Ksenia, who was an absolute standout from the beginning. She was transparent about everything--explained the promo (first month free and four months half off), gave me a clear understanding of pricing long term, and even told me she lives on-site, which made me feel even more secure about choosing this facility. She showed me a few units and helped me pick the one best suited to my needs. It was clear she genuinely cared about getting me the best value. Moving day was intense. I was juggling a lot--my parents had just driven my moving truck in from LA, I was going back and forth with moving companies, and I was going through a breakup. In all the chaos, I accidentally left my phone on top of my car and drove off. I ended up using my dad's phone to call the office, and Ksenia went out of her way to look for it. We didn't find it, but I'll never forget her effort. One of the moving companies I had been in contact with still showed up (thankfully!), and Ksenia helped coordinate with them and made everything run smoothly. That personal touch made such a huge difference. Since then, I've returned several times and it's always quiet and hassle-free. However, I do want to mention a couple of minor issues: * One of my units is in the E building, and its cooling system has been out. Ksenia said the part is on order, but it's been about a week and it's still uncomfortably hot in there. * The light bulb in my unit is unreliable. Out of the five times I've visited, only once did the light actually turn on. It's not a dealbreaker, but definitely inconvenient. * Push carts are only available until 30 minutes before the office closes (typically 6 PM), so keep that in mind if you're doing any late-night moves. All that said, I still feel good about my decision. It's a clean, secure facility with great pricing and excellent customer service. Ksenia is the reason I feel confident and taken care of here--she truly goes above and beyond and deserves recognition (and honestly, a raise!). read more

They keep raising my rent. If you go on the website rent for the same unit at the non special price is 30-40 lower than what I am paying. Not only that but my friend has the same unit at the same place and is paying 23 dollars cheaper. I've never missed rent but this company keeps trying to take advantage. I tried reaching out to someone to explain this to me and no one at this company had a straight answer. I am looking for a new place for storage. Continuation of my review from 5/13/2023 Before I left she said that I would need to contact their insurance company - which appears to be an internal agency - to start a claim. Shouldn't SmartStop be responsible for starting a claim to move the items out of the unit and clean them per Center for Disease Control guidelines? So let me get this straight, SmartStop wants me to spend my time and energy fixing a problem caused by rodents in their building and caused by their negligence to make sure that rodents can't get into the building. This should be their responsibility. Once we start moving the property out of the unit and if there is any damage found, then I will make a claim for the value of that property. There should be two separate claims since one is the responsibility of SmartStop, and the other one is mine. I am also being denied one of my sources of income by SmartStop Self Storage. The storage unit is primarily used to store my inventory for my eBay business. Since I can't get my property when it sells now, I have had to take down all the items in the unit that are posted on eBay. Also, if I don't sell a certain number of items each month, eBay will take away my "Top Rated Seller" status and this will affect my future sales on the platform. I guess SmartStop wants me to sue for this too. Talk about poor customer service! It seems that SmartStop Self Storage wants a fight and a public relations nightmare. SmartStop could have easily solved this by 1) Hiring a moving company with hazardous materials experience to move the items of my unit to another unit in the complex and removing items from boxes with feces and urine on them to a clean box; 2) If another unit was not available in the complex (one without a rodent problem) agree to move the property of the unit to another nearby storage facility or my home; 3) Take a report of the damaged property once everything is moved out for the insurance claim; 4) Offer three to six months of pro-rated and/or future rent for the hassle of the situation. If they had done this, I wouldn't be writing and updating a one-star review, I would be writing a glowing five-star review on how well they handled the situation, the great customer service, and the seamless nature of the incident. On May 16th I finally had the opportunity to speak to the infamous, Larry Penner, and recorded the call. He said that my only option was to put in a claim. Which is fine. The issue is that they will only pay out $500 for rodents. The cost of moving the items out of the unit will cost this much because your usual moving company won't touch the job because of the rodent droppings. I might have to have my pest control company come in first to remove the droppings and then have a moving company come in. Larry kept reiterating that they can not touch the stuff in my unit. Which I don't want them to do. I want them to take full financial responsibility for the negligence, breach of contract, and false advertising. Larry did say that he would provide another unit to move the items of my current unit to, to be able to assess any damage caused to my personal property to be able to put in a claim for the damage. I don't want anything to be moved off the property until a damage assessment can be made. Knowing them and what has happened so far, they will try to put the blame on me. If the claim goes beyond $500 because of the moving and property damage and SmartStop doesn't pay it, I will be filing a small claims case against them because of the negligence, breach of contract, and false advertising. Don't let companies like Smart Stop Self Storage steal from you. read more

I am relatively happy with my storage facility and all the other employees at the facility on Pollock Drive. The fact that I am even taking time out of my very busy day to write a review, speaks volumes. My issue is with Deasa. Today I called and asked to speak with a manager regarding a request. She told me no and that the manager would not fulfill my request. I then asked for the name of the manager and his email address. I even asked her for any way to contact someone above her. She refused and told me that she would have them to contact me. I found this to be very odd; but this is not the issue. The issue is the abrasiveness of her delivery, along with her combative nature, and the raising of her voice. Since this is the second time that I have been completely taken back by her response, I felt the need to let management know. The first time I met her, she was extremely cordial while renting me a unit. At the end, she impressed upon me her need for me to review her and how much she needed for me to do it because her employment was intengent upon it. So, for no extradinary efforts on her part, I wrote a review complementing her. A couple of months later, I went into the office to let her know that I had noticed after hours that my lock was missing. I began to explain a chain of events with her and questions about what might have happened. When she was not understanding me, I began with..."No, listen..." I didn't say it in an ugly way...but very casually. Because she is very combative, she raised her voice, rolled her eyes, and said. "I am listening!" At that point, I thought, there is no getting through to this person. And, why does she want to fight with me. Where is the person who rented me the unit? And, what have you done with her? I just let it go and walked out of the office. Since, I began writing this, I reached out to customer service and spoke with another representative who informed me that Larry, Deasa's district manager, had indeed fulfilled my request that had been denied by her. Thank you Larry. I have worked in customer service for a very long time and understand the importance of communication. Since I was never upset with her, I have been respectful. But, even if a customer is upset, your job is to deesculate. Deasa seems to always be looking for a fight. We customers are not her enemy. Instead, we are the reason for her job. read more

I live right next door to these units. So when it was time to move in with the bf, renting here was a no brainer. We walked in, toured the location and saw my unit I was renting. I was only going to store a few things so we got a 7x10 unit, 3 months for $172. The employees are very friendly and the complex is clean. There is a required gate code entering and exiting the premise so I feel secure storing my items here. Here are a few tips: 1. New tenants can use their moving truck for free to move in (up to 25 miles). 2. They require renters insurance, either your own or you can purchase it from them. 3. Even though your things are in storage, don't forget to cover things up. It still gets dusty. read more

I won't use this business again. Communication to/from is awful. They require you to show proof of your property insurance, and when I emailed it to them (the email address matched the one they emailed me the Contract docs)...they claim they never got it. I tried to call, several times, and the number wasn't working. They insisted I bring my homeowner's insurance policy in person (I had a fever & a cough...and hello - COVID-19 is highly contagious). Sure, it was only $11.00 extra - but why should I pay for double insurance on a storage locker full of crap I keep in my garage ? don't ever do business with this company. they are raising rents for current customers by almost 30%. Mine went from less than 200 to 280. They sent a postcard to announce it. they lie. if you're late with a payment they slap you with a $125 fee. they will auction your contents after 60 days, which is understandable, however catching up with a late payment makes no difference, they won't remove the auction. I was NOT 60 days late when they set the auction date. They set it in October when I was a few weeks late. i have never done business with a worse company. you can't believe anything they tell you when you start renting. read more

I went with a friend to her unit today and was disgusted! There was rodent droppings EVERYWHERE! We had to get gloves and masks just to move around in the unit. There was plastic containers that had been chewed thru, urine all over her boxes, tubs, mattresses and furniture! The amount of rat and mice feces was unbelieveable. She called the office and was told that someone brought them in and they had just had an exterminator in her same building and were working on it. Really...because it doesn't look like it. Later she told me she had been told the EXACT same thing a month ago. Obviously they aren't doing enough. We had to throw away a box full of her possessions because of the destruction of the rodents! They have roaches and bugs coming from other units and when you report it, they just keep saying they'll spray, yet the roaches keep crawling. I went to move out of my unit last week and there was thick white residue all over one half of my unit coming from the next unit. Smartstop didn't want to deal with it so I called the police and filled out a claim....They denied it! read more

You are better off storing your stuff with the Mafia b/c they would actually treat you better. Seriously, the change in ownership turned the whole place into a churn. This location is tucked away on a side street and is clean and I feel comfortable and safe every time I am there to checkout my storage unit. My questions were always answered and I was given a free truck to move my stuff into the unit which was awesome and convenient. I would not recommend renting a storage unit facility in Las Vegas, NV from this company. The onsite manager I dealt with had children roaming the facility driveways carrying toy guns in the dark lurking around buildings which literally scare the hell out of customers who don't know if the gun is real. We have had too many shootings in this country from young kids to be playing around with customer safety. She was completely dismissive and ignored the severity of the issue. When I called the corporate office, they were equally dismissive and seemed to care less about the safety of their customers and using common sense and responsibility from their managers on site. Justin and Desa are both friendly, professional and very helpful (5 stars only for them). They stayed late to finish our rental. HOWEVER, the owners should be ASHAMED of themselves for not providing carts. My husband and I are in our 60's and unable to carry our things from our truck down the long corridors without the help of a cart. If your customers are stealing them, put them under lock and key and remove their access temporarily until the cart is returned to the office. But for the price customers pay the very least you can do is provide a damn cart!! Thankfully, Justin moved us to a unit only 3 or 4 in from the door but we still had to carry our boxes from the truck to the unit. If only I had known before I signed the contract!!! read more

Staff extremely rude and unhelpful. And you'll be locked out the day after your due date. If I could give this place a negative in Stars I would. they've had a theft problem going on Thursday Friday Saturday and now my unit yesterday on Wednesday. This place is a total scam. They do not honor the advertised prices, or the prices agreed upon at time of renting. Beyond that, they do not give you a copy of the contract unless you demand it, and then it does not reflect what you just signed! They actually changed the numbers online before printing it out for me, and I didn't realize until I looked when I received my bill that was totally different. Every month they would add in something else. The "deal" was supposed to be half price for the first three months, and they counted the few days at the end of the month I moved in as my first month. Then they kept charging me for insurance which I declined, and had to send them copies of my insurance three times. Now they decided to increase the price per month, and said they sent a notice, which they did not. Also what kind of a business states that they can randomly increase the price at their whim? As another person stated, if I could give this a negative four stars I would. They also tried to charge me more for a second floor unit vs a third floor, when all units above the first floor are supposed to be the same. They make you buy their locks and insurance, jacking the bill up some more. DO NOT EVER USE THIS STORAGE FACILITY IT IS A RIP OFF, SCAM, LIARS AND THEIVES. It will cost you a ton of money to move your stuff to a reasonable place, like I am having to do. It is disgusting that, in this day and age, a company gets away with this. This is the worst storage unit location I have ever dealt with. The women who sold me the unit was so unhelpful. She was rude and did not want to validate any of the promotions nor do they promote any deals. You have to ask and plea to get them. For example while I was waiting I seen a sign for a free lock. The offer was that you receive a free lock with auto bill pay, when I asked the employee about the offer she rolled her eyes and said "I guess". Because the size of unit I rented was smaller I wasn't able to get the dollar move in so I asked if they had any other deals and the women replied "yes". Being frustrated I signed my contract and started to move my stuff. The staff provided the worst customer service. No to mention the rates are high and the inconvenient hours. I only used this location because it was the only storage location in this small are (I live close) that was available the day I needed. I am happy to no longer be doing business with them.
