My husband did a fair amount of research looking for a security company after our house was broken into. He narrowed the search to 3 companies and after talking to a few neighbors got it down to 2. Smart Shield is local which was important to us. Ron, who was our salesperson was fabulous. He first met with my husband & then was gracious enough to do a second sales call to satisfy my questions. We had a couple of minor questions & Sharon in Operations, responded quickly and the things she couldn't answer immediately, she researched & called back the next morning. We have now had the system a week and it is so easy to use. We couldn't be happier. read more

As mentioned in our prior review, we purchased exterior home security cameras from Smart Shield Systems in August 2018. Originally, we had purchased the cameras to discourage a vindictive person on the street from further vandalizing our property and autos. We believe security cameras have made a difference with that situation as the person appears to be cautious to do anything else for fear of being caught on the cameras. Recently, we discovered that the security cameras could save us money when cameras recorded a hit and run in front of our house. We went to drive our auto and discovered the front of the vehicle had been hit. There was no note left on the windshield (as is required by law), so we thought we were going to have to file the claim on our auto insurance and pay the deductible (a financial hardship, especially around the holidays). Before calling our insurance, we decided to go back through our security camera footage. Thankfully, we found the incident, the person and vehicle responsible, and made a recording. The recording showed a man driving his truck into our auto and then driving away. We called SDPD with the information and showed them the video footage. They ran the license plate and it turns out the person responsible for the hit and run worked for the construction company doing a long-term construction project on the street. An officer came out and confronted the man with the video evidence and man admitted he was the one who caused the hit and run and immediately provided his insurance information. We then filed the claim with the hit and run driver's auto insurance and his insurance had to pay for the repairs to our vehicle. This meant we did not have to pay a deductible to our insurance, which saved us $500 and no increase on our insurance rates. We want to give a big 'thank-you' to Smart Shield Systems and their team of professional sales reps and installers as our security cameras make us feel more secure in our home and actually caught a bad guy! read more

I got a basic security system from Smart Shield company about two months ago and so far, service is good. It is user friendly, I like the app a lot. I know they have more cool features but I am not up to that yet. This is definitely a great local company! read more

I will not hold in reservation on giving them 5 starts . Initially there was some communication issues but it was handled very professionally by Sharon and team. Yud was very respectful and professional , he always goes out of his way to get things done the proper way. I would recommend them to everyone as they will listen and take care of you , which they have proved time and again with me. Good luck !!!! read more

When we decided to put in a CCTV system I started by looking at the companies in the San Diego area, and then at their reviews on Yelp, the BBB, and other locations. We narrowed it down to four companies that we wanted to talk to for an estimate and began to reach out to them. Smart Shield responded within minutes (on a weekend!) and then scheduled an appointment for that Monday where we got an estimate at the end of the meeting. Another company made an appointment for a few days later. Another company came out the day after them, but we never got the written estimate as promised. And the last company gave us an estimate without even coming out to our home for an assessment (still not understanding how that works). I liked Ron and he really seemed to understand our true needs, at times better than us, for a system that would give us the results we wanted. When I reached back out to him to ask about getting a little better camera (we want clearer pictures that are good enough for a slam-dunk prosecution), he was able to find us an amazing system for an incredible price, and they scheduled the system to be installed that next week. Installers Yud and Steve were so wonderful from the get-go! So easy going, but professional. Kind and respectful. Humble, but a lot of fun. I had no qualms about letting them have the run of the house and insisting on buying lunch for them. They also were very patient with us in that we wanted the lines run a particular way to not only reuse the already established construction, but to also have the least amount of esthetic alterations. Not only did they listen to our wishes and concerns, but worked very hard to ensure our requests were honored, even if it was not the easiest route. Two days after installation we had a mishap which resulted in one of the cables being sliced, which cut the feed to the base unit (basically, our one camera video was not visible). Not only did Yud come back out at the end of his work day (only a couple hours after contacting Smart Shield about the issue) to repair the line, but he was still incredibly nice and happy to help us. He had us back up and running very quickly and ensured all was well before he left us again. I am really not sure what to say to convince you that this is the company you want, except to say they have made us customers for as long as they want us. It is no question that with our future needs, Smart Shield would be our only call. Soup to nuts this was an amazing experience!!!! read more

I just got an alarm system from this company last week. Must say I LOVE it! I got a little more than what I anticipated for starters. I was in for a basic alarm system with the fire detector and carbon monoxide detector which I heard was a must from a friend of mine. Eventually I added the coolest doorbell camera in the world! It notifies me whenever there is motion outside of my door or anyone rings my doorbell, I can see them through the camera and speak with them. I told the UPS guy to leave the package closer to my door on a rainy day so it won't get wet! How cool is that! read more

Smart Shield was fantastic! They've been extremely professional. From the first interaction with Ron through the installation with Yud and the follow-up with Keren, everyone has been professional and helpful, and made the installation of a fairly complex residential system quite easy. After the installation, they spent all the time we needed to walk us through the system and were very responsive to our follow-up calls and questions. We anticipate this level of service in the future and look forward to a long relationship with this company. Highly recommend! read more

After recently moving from a downtown SD high rise to a house in Escondido we were interested in finding a security system to help us and our children feel safe. As new homeowners, we received lots of ads (that offered discounts) from several different security companies (i.e. ADT, etc) but I didn't want to purchase a system that after 6 months the price was going to go up. So I started to look on Yelp at the different options when I came across Smart Shield. I requested a quote and I was quickly contacted by Ron. We set a time for him to come by and discuss options. After the appointment I was very impressed by the quality of security I was going to have. Not to mention they really offer all the bells and whistles using the newest technologies. I wish I could afford it all. However, Ron was really great in the fact he went over and above to work a package that was totally affordable and still provided the maximum security. We set up a time for installation in the following weeks. Tony was the installer. He was also very friendly and answered all additional questions we had. Now we are about 3 weeks in and two false alarms later but I can confirm the service on the false alarms we got was very speedy which made me feel really good. In all, from start to finish I've had a great experience and the best part is my family can rest assured we have the security in place to keep our family and belongings secure. read more

The entire team at Smart Shield Systems is professional, responsive and made this decision easy. I shopped around looking at 4 other services. I had one more to meet with, but after meeting with Ron at Smart Shield I canceled them and went with Smart Shield. I believe Smart Shield actually cares about my security and not just about selling another system. The installers who came to my house were professional and careful of my home when they did the installation. There was a minor issue with my installation and they came back within a few hours after normal working hours to take care of the issue. They took time to train us on how to use the system and educate us on strategies of how to manage the system to be more secure. read more

Smart Shield installed a security system in my business with multiple cameras, image sensors and regular sensors. I was very impressed with all this process, especially as a business owner of a restoration company. The specialist was very professional, down to the point, and not pushy. The technician was incredible! He worked fast, clean and had explained everything to me in detail. The customer service was outstanding, exactly as I expect mine to always be. I never used a local company for my security system before and will definitely choose them for my residential security after the expiration of my current contract. read more

Love my new Smart Home! I never knew how many cool features there are these days. I did not get them all but I got the smart lock and the garage door for now! I am planning on getting a smart dimmer next to control my lights and would love the doorbell camera but that will have to wait. read more

This is my 4th security system and I can't begin to explain how happy I am with the service and quality of this system. I've had Z-Modo, Premier, and then ADT none of them compare to the service and quality of the system I received from Smart Shield. From my initial discussions about equipment, to speaking with their assistants, to the actual install, the experience has been A1+! The quality of the system is far superior to that of the ADT equipment I had installed just a few months ago, a night and day difference. The quality of the install is beyond comparison as ADT placed cameras in areas that were easy for their techs to install, where-as Smart Shield placed the cameras in optimal positions for full coverage of my property. Just very very impressed and happy with the automation, ability to grow the system and pricing that was extremely competitive. Great job Smart Shield, I'm already showing my colleagues what my system can do from the office and am learning what is an easy, intuitive smart alarm system you installed, thank you!!! We just signed up so I can't say i am a long time customer but thus far I am impressed. The equipment is very up to date with an app on your phone and easy by-pass systems which we needed for a sliding door to be open for dogs. We didn't feel like we were over sold on anything, they just customized the system to fit our needs. Very nice to deal with and thus far have done everything they said they would. read more

Our house was burglarized and our current monitoring company would not send any technician immediately. I shopped around for another company to upgrade our alarm system. Smart Shield Systems' good reviews caught my eyes. I called on Saturday and Ron came to our house on Sunday. He looked around our house and gave very good explanations and a price quote on the spot. Once we decided to proceed, Ron fitted us in the schedule in the same week. The installation team led by Yud and Tony was very awesome. They worked at our house for the entire day to install the system and gave us detailed tutoring how to use the systems. They are professional, nice, and very patient answering all our questions. Their support team is great too. We had to add some equipment during installation and the accounting was prompt and precise in terms of the final invoice. Good experience overall! I will recommend their services to my neighbors and friends. read more

Smart shield has been great from start to finish. I just had my system installed and it's up and running with no issues. The consultation was great. Ron sat down with us and explained everything thoroughly. They provided all the equipment necessary needed to protect my home. Tony came to do the install on time with no issues as well. Highly recommend! read more

Ron was extremely nice to work with. He came to our house, explained everything that we needed to put in, and was extremely knowledgeable and personable. The installers did a great job, and went over everything with us at the end of a long day. The system works great. The automation scenes are nice (for example, you can open the garage door with the app, the system disarms, and the door unlocks. The thermostat can also be programmed to shut on/off or change temperature when you leave or enter. The user interface with Alarm.com is much better than ADT, which we had previously. The cameras work great and the image quality is very good. read more

We contacted Smart Shield based on their awesome reviews and the number of gadgets they had for our new home. We were not disappointed! Everything can be done from your smart phone such as turning down the thermostat, opening garage and viewing visitors using our cellphone. Great service! Just switched over to Smart Shield Systems because Vivint Home Security did not live up to its expectations. Smart Shield provided us with the a high-end home security system, great customer service and friendly technicians. What I liked about Smart Shield is that they are based here in San Diego and a private company (not a chain). If I have a problem with anything or questions, they are fast to respond and they have their own technicians (not subcontractors) to fix any issues/problems. Overall, the home monitoring service pricing is reasonable along with great customer service. As of now, we have had no problems with our home security system. read more

After researching many alarm companies, this one was head and shoulders above the rest. They are many steps ahead in bringing a house together through automation versus a static outdated alarm system. They did a great job installing and customizing the unit to our needs. Very impressed! read more

We just moved to a new home which had AT&T alarm (proprietary) installed; they were so tough to deal with that we sought out another solution for home security. Talked to Ron and got set up for an appointment...we had the system installed today and are really impressed with the intuitive alarm features and what seems to be a good monitoring plan for much less than AT&T was going to charge. Also, the technician was extremely professional, friendly, and helpful...not a requirement for an alarm company, but definitely a good sign that we will be happy with this service! read more

Highly recommend this company for your home security needs. We had a competitor providing services for us and were charged for replacement batteries in our monitor after only 3 months of service as well as a service call fee!! We made the decision to switch to Smart Shield because of such poor customer service from "the other guys". Smart Shield gave us a similar system as well as upgraded our system by including a key pad front door lock and 2 extra sensors. Not long after we made the switch we were informed of a lower monthly cost and our monthly fee was automatically changed. Recently we were notified by Sharon that we were the lucky winners of a drawing that was held to provide an existing customer with an in home camera!! Wow!! The customer service and care that they take with their clients doesn't stop after you sign the contract. If you have a current home security system or have been thinking about getting one, don't go anywhere else!! Call Smart Shield - you won't be disappointed. read more

After researching for a home security system for our home in San Diego, we decided to go with Smart Shield. The installation was very smooth and all the components integrated seamlessly. We did have an issue with the interior motion detector, but they were quick to replace the unit and actually wrote a check to cover the cost of the false alarm invoice we were given by the San Diego PD. My experience thus far has been positive and I would recommend to anyone looking for a home security system. read more

My cousin recommend this company to us after having it installed in her house. Ron came the very next day was very helpful and answered all of our questions. The installation was scheduled within a week of our initial consultation. The use of the security system was explained in great detail. So far, we are very pleased with the security system we installed. A great personable family owned and operated business. It's a breath of fresh air compared to many of the other over-grown companies with compromised customer service (usually b/c their staff are not invested in their brand.) The Smart Shield staff radiate genuine and authentic character. Besides their professionalism, their staff from sales to installation to support (yes, I've met all of them in person) are personable, kind and stand behind their work. Every company could sell the top "systems"and technology but when it comes down to protecting your house- you want people who genuinely care about you. Keep it up Smart Shield! read more

We just had our outdated "do it yourself" alarm system professionally upgraded by Smart Shield. We did a lot of research over the past year and when we had a drug junkie try to rob us last week that was the push we needed to call the pros. We choose Smart Shield after our consult with Ron. Three days later we have a fully functional alarm system installed by a very professional and knowledgeable tech, Tony. From start to finish this has been everything all the other 5 stars reviews said it would be. We even added upgrades specific to our needs and they did exactly what WE wanted, providing some professional guidance to help us get it right. We are already planning on adding more to our system in the next few months. Hands down this is the right company. Get your quotes and consults from other companies like we did and then call Smart Shield. You will be blown away by their prices, service offerings and customer service. THANK YOU Smart Shield. read more

I did a lot of research on alarm systems and had a system with ADT previously which I was not happy with. Ron and his team were very professional and their prices were on par with the other companies. I felt like I got very good, personalized service. They did not try to pressure me into buying things I didn't need or want, which I really appreciated. The app is great and I feel like my house is very secure. I would definitely recommend Smart Shield to anyone needing an alarm system. read more
