I truthfully cant be anymore thankful for this place. The woman who helped me out was so kind and helpful. I needed my bridesmaids dress "let out" and she was able to find ways to make this happen. I went to another place before coming to Smart Fit Alterations and they immediately told me they cannot help me and I needed a new and bigger sized dress. WHAT!? Purchasing another dress would be a whole lot more money AND, I would have needed much more alterations done when the current dress fit perfect in every way. They legitimately said "we can't help you, next!". I came to Smart Fit and she did such a marvelous job and made sure to find a way to make this dress work for me and it seemed it was a super simple fix. It was reasonably priced as well. If I need any more work done, I will definitely be coming here. The customer service, the work, everything was a great experience. They work with your schedule as well, so I had my dress well before my date. I highly recommend this place! read more

I had the most amazing experience at Smart Fit Alterations. I came a month before my wedding and they did my dress alterations perfectly (and it really was the best experience and price in town!!). The quality was so great and the staff was very kind. Can't wait to keep coming back for more alterations in the future! read more

Are we about to make a tailoring pun? Sew it would seam. :D Having been referred here and seeing some of my Yelp homies review this place, I came to Smart Fit Alterations to get my dress hemmed for an upcoming wedding. I came in wearing the dress to speed up the process so I was in-and-out after 10-15 mins. It cost me $40 to chop up a two-layer dress and the turn around being two weeks. What can be said? The alterations were done nicely! The dress fit perfectly, the seams look flawless, and I was happy. I'm already planning on dropping off a few more items that could use some tailoring. #shortpeopleprobs I definitely recommend this place! read more

I bought some pants overseas that needed to be hemmed. They did a great job shortening these pants that are now my favorites. They also were very reasonably priced with a good turn around time. read more

BEWARE!!!! I think i have a basic understanding of alterations. For example, hemming or tapering pants is probably the simplest thing there is, save maybe sewing on a button. Well, i brought a pair of pants to be tapered. They said it would take almost two weeks. First red flag. Its not a wedding dress. Its a simple pair of pants. But ok, maybe their really good and have a lot of clients. So i left my pants.......and paid $20. What i got back was the same pants, untouched. They basically took my pants and hung them on a hanger and DID NOTHING to them. So, if you want to be ripped off. Or if you want to just donate money to them have them do zero, then go here. Added pictures. The pic with ruler was before I brought them, next picture is how i got them back. Clearly they did nothing. Oh, and they were supposed to be tapered to the same as black pair read more

I found this place by inquiring about wedding alterations and I could not be more happy! Mehzabeen is amazing! She is precise, she listens to what you ask for, and she makes you feel great in your clothes. We have already been back to have some jeans hemmed and are sure we will be seeing a lot more of her! read more

Had two pants hemmed and a saree top tailored. It was so well done! Will come back for more tailoring.

I took 2 pants in to get hemmed. When I went back and tried them on the pant legs were different lengths. I showed the lady and she said they weren't. The owner came out and was mad raising her voice at me saying " this is ridiculous"! She measured them both and found that they were different lengths. When she was in that back with the other lady she mentioned that the hem was crooked and she's glad the other 2 ladies coming in weren't there yet. I waited for them to be fixed and they were even WORSE! The pant length that was longer was Even longer and the shorter one was even shorter! I showed her and said look you can see it even from the front! She said I would have to come back and I said that I can't as I live far away. Once I was back in the changing room she said we don't have time for this and said she was giving my money back and slammed it on the desk. Needless to say they do not fix their mistakes and get mad at the customer when you show them and when they know it too. I do not suggest using them unless you're ok with poor quality and a bad attitude when you show them. read more

First of all, after having 4 pairs of pants altered for my husband and myself, I do NOT believe any of the bad reviews about Smart Fit Alterations. It seems that there are some people you just can't make happy. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT from start to finish. From the customer service, to the alterations done, to the amount charged, and the short amount of time it took them to complete the job. EXTREMELY HAPPY with them and will be back for any alterations needed in the future! I highly recommend Smart Fit Alterations! read more

We live close and needed a military patch removed from a shirt and a new one put on. I'm guessing this is about 15 mins of work. We went in on Monday and said we needed it by Friday. Then a loud voice from the back room yelled, "We take nothing!" Wow. Super rude - and we'll never be back. read more

Smart Fit Alterations is a great, budget friendly option for all of your tailoring needs. I'm willing to drive out of my way from Phoenix to go to Smart Fit because I can count on a good alteration job, short turn around time (usually 1 week), and affordable prices. I've had several pairs of jeans and dress pants hemmed here and been quite satisfied with the workmanship. The price for a regular hem is $10, which is hard to find anywhere else. It's only slightly more expensive if you want to keep the "original hem" ($16), but this involves folding over the fabric and sewing right above the original hem which isn't quite the look that I like. The staff aren't always the most friendly, but I'm guessing that this is part a cultural difference and not any desire to be rude. For example, I asked for an itemized receipt before paying for my alterations and rather than walking me through all of the charges, the owner just said that I'd receive a receipt in my inbox - no further explanation was provided. Unfortunately, these encounters do detract slightly from the experience which is why I can't go a full 4-stars. read more

Friendly staff. Brought in some suits and pants to be tailored and hemmed. Really quick and easy. Don't forget to bring your dress shoes to measure how the pants will fall. My only concern is that it does take a week to hem a pair of pants, but they do offer hemming cheaper than other places. Other than that, it was a great experience. read more

PAT did an amazing rush job on my sons suit for prom. Not to mention she was pleasant and polite the whole time. LOVE her!

My husband recently lost 20 lbs and brought his dress pant in to SmartFit for alterations. Owner does a great job and prices are reasonable. Then he decided to ty getting his jeans in and again, great results and only takes a week. Much cheaper than buying all new jeans and dress pants! I decided to bring in a couple pairs of my dress pants with a bigger bell-bottom than I would like. She did a great job and I have now had all 6 pair narrowed and hemmed. She is very friendly and does a great job. I highly recommended SmartFit for professional, timely and fair priced alterations! read more

TWO JERSEYS PERFECTLY ALTERED! Being a male and from New England, I had nowhere to start when I had ordered two jerseys online that didn't fit me. One was a hockey jersey from my defunct Worcester IceCats whose jersey felt like a XXXL when labeled as L and an ASU Basketball jersey that ran too long for comfort. I went to google and searched for good reviews for tailors and alterations. I called three stores and received firm answers stating "we don't alter jerseys". When I called Smart Fit Alterations I was given a confident "yes, we will assist". Upon arriving to the store I saw a wedding dress in the window, sucked up my masculinity, and knew I was placing my clothes in the hands of professionals. Within 10 minutes the jerseys were sized, money exchanged, and a wait of 10 days took place before my clothes were ready. I had read a review stating that their phone etiquette left something to be desired. A brash "Hello." with no business company tagline prompted my question on today's hours for MLK Day. Another brash "Yes." was met and I got into my car to receive my clothes. Upon arrival my clothes were given back to me clean in plastic and altered to perfection. My XXXL jersey fit like any hockey jersey should and a shortened length to my basketball jersey were both perfectly altered. Although the phone skills leave much to be desired, you can not take away from these ladies (yes, two women run the business) on their alteration skills. TWO THUMBS UP! $34 + $14 = $48 saved my jerseys and I will be sure to have my shirts tailored by Smart Fit in the future as well. read more

A definite must on your list if you care how your clothes fit! I have worked with many tailors over the years in cities and was having a difficult time finding quality seamstress's here in the Phoenix area that also had good rates. Well I am glad to say I have found Smart Fit Alterations and they have been wonderful to work with. The owner & staff are quite pleasant to work with and always have a smile on their face when you walk in. Not only do they take care with their work, but they are open to ideas and are flexible with delivery dates and pricing-both of which are very important to me! Keep this team in mind for more then just hemming and letting out of items. The ladies have already "raised" V necklines that were a bit too low for the work day, taken up straps on dresses, removed pockets from pants that made me look "hippy" and even turned a one time trend of a bubble dress into a cute tunic for me! Alot more then just alterations to be done here-if you have the idea they are willing and open to working with you- I simply can't say enough how pleased I have been to work with this locally owned shop. read more

Smart Fit Alterations could be the best alterations place on the planet, I will never know. I have been here twice and both times the front lady is far from friendly. She looks at you as if you took a crap in the trash can and there is nothing but content in the tone she addresses you. Then again, it could just be that she hates me - what do I know. - First time. I asked if they could take my measurements, because I needed them. I even had a printout of the measurements that I needed, even if someone in the business "sure would know what was needed for a suit", right?! Well, the lady didn't. She charged me $10 for a really shitty job and I didn't even get the measurements that I needed, nor was the ones she measured correct. I walked out and literally asked myself wtf just happened? - Second and possibly last time. Why did I go back? I had no choice, I was in a time crunch and I needed a couple of pants hemmed. They did a good job, but the lady was less than friendly as usual so I feel that might have been the last time. I mean if I come back and I have another bad experience, then that is my own damn fault. Again, the hemmed pants came out nicely.. but then again, I don't want to feel uneasy doing business. I don't need a caffeine-hyped Starbucks girls greeting (you know what I mean), but I don't need those 'lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes' staring at me injecting guilt, capish? read more

I will say that this is my first tailoring experience... but I must say, I love this place. I have now had four pairs of jeans taken in at the waist and legs. Honestly because of this lady, I now buy my jeans a size too big and add $20 onto their price tag because I know I will want them altered to fit ME. It's astonishing how wonderful she is at tailoring your clothes. One of the jeans I brought in had to be roughly 2 sizes too big. She fitted them to me and then when I went to pick them up the next week, I still wasn't 100% happy with the fit. She said she would re-alter them at no extra cost. I am sure this is standard procedure in the business, but she was quite wonderful about the whole thing. I was going to leave without trying them on, but she encouraged me to try each pair on so she could see the fit as well. To get my jeans taken in at the waist, it is a flat rate of $20. To get my legs taken in, it is again a flat rate of $20. To have the hem taken up or down, it is usually $10. It is always around a week turnover time; I have brought in 3 items at a time and at a different time 1 item, and both took a week. This all being said, I dig the flat rates. If I bring in jeans with a small alteration or I bring in a pair 2 sizes too big, I am grateful to know what I am going to pay, always. There is no funny business with her. She is straightforward and cares about her customers. As I said, I now buy jeans with the expectation that she will tailor them. I wouldn't be happy with the look of my clothing otherwise. read more

I stopped by to drop off a suit I blindly bought online on a recommendation from a friend and they really took care of everything I asked on time. I had to request a rush on my suit to be tailored but at $5 i felt like this was not a big deal. The consultation or sizing was really quick and straightforward I probably took more time changing into my suit than fine tuning the alterations. The big risk when I picked up the suit was I didn't have time to try it on because I was already late to where I was heading so I literally had to try it on before the wedding I went to and to my surprise everything was how I imagined. Its wedding season and I definitely am dropping off a few more suits to get them tailored here. read more

I am so glad I found this place. Really good service and alteration expertise - both of which are hard to find.

One of my pieces just needed to have the zipper sewed down. I had bought this romper, tried it on, bought it and got a discount. I thought I'd just take it to get sewed. I dropped off the items and my husband picked them up for me. I don't know how those white marks appeared on my clothes. It seemed as though my romper had been pulled through the sewing machine and the zipper was not fixed correctly. I had plans to go to a concert that night and she ruined my outfit. NEVER coming back to this place! read more

I brought my bridesmaids dress in to have a hem and straps taken in. Unfortunately, the hem was 3 inches too short and incredibly uneven when I came to pick with the dress. The under layer was longer than the top layer, one side longer than the other, and the front longer than the back. The owner refunded me the alteration cost, and fixed the underside, which was appreciated. However, overall the dress alterations were unable to be fixed. I would not recommend this shop. read more

I have been going here for a few years now. Everyone who works there is really nice and patient. Everything I have had altered has turned out perfectly how I wanted, and I am pretty picky! I won't say I'm short but I find that a lot of pants I buy are too long. I have taken several pairs of pants here and have always been satisfied. I have had both jeans and dress pants done here and been pleased with both. For $10 you can't beat it. read more

Brought in 2 pairs of pants that needed to be taken in around the waist. I needed about an inch taken in with the fabric still in not cut and had lining. I had never tried getting pants altered before, so I took one pair of jeans and a pair of dress khakis to Smart Fit Alterations after coming across this business online. These were pants that I wanted to keep if they were altered correctly, but would have been okay with losing if not. When I picked up the pants the following week, I was pleasantly surprised! Both the jeans and dress khakis fit just the way I wanted them to. I found that going a size down at the store led to pants that were too tight, and the size I had were a bit too loose. Smart Fit was able to get them to fit exactly the way I wanted. I had the waist and pant seat done on the dress khakis, and the hem / waist and pant seat done on the jeans. Pricing might seem a little bit high at first for waist / pant seat, but I am sure there is a significant amount of time and labor invested to get the pants just right. It was well worth it, and I am glad I came across this business. I am planning to take 3 more pants into their shop later today :) read more

I purchased a new suit and needed some alterations done. I've driven by this place many times and decided to give it a shot. The lady that helped me (I didn't catch her name) was very friendly and professional. It took a little over a week for the alterations to be done. Seems a bit long, but I dropped it off the week of Thanksgiving, so we'll chalk it up to that. $45 to have the pants hemmed and the sides of the jacket taken in a bit. Not bad at all. They did an outstanding job. I'll definitely come back here for all of my alteration needs. read more

I went to Smart Fit Alterations to have my wedding dress altered and am very happy with the work they did. To be more specific there was a train on the wedding dress that I asked to cut off, but keep the fabric, and there were rips on each side of the dress near the waist that I asked to be fixed. This was a total of $120 ($100 for the train and $20 for the sides). No only did the alterations look wonderful, but they fulfilled my request to keep the extra material from the train. I'll admit the alteration to my dress wasn't huge but they did a great job and I am considering going back for all my alteration needs. Also, they had the dress ready on time. Great shop, definitely recommend. read more
