This company the worst customer service that I have ever experienced, directly opposite of their claim to be the Industry Leader in Customer Service. I purchased 3 car warrantees from this company in 2020, of which I have made claims under 2 of the contracts. In every case, both I and the repair shops have experienced the following terrible service characteristics: - The worst part of their Customer Service is the inability to talk to someone at the company. Impossible to get someone to answer the phone, always placed on hold. - Long hold times exceeding 1 hour with the line randomly dropping sometime after 45 minutes. - No responses when escalating the issues to the Supervisor - Zach Gibbs and leaving voicemail requesting a call back to discuss. - Delays and slow walking in contacting an outside Inspector to view the car at repair shop to approve the work. - Unreasonable demands on repair shops to prove damaged parts. - When they do approve a claim they limit labor to $80/hour while market is clearly above that in the $120-200 range depending on foreign or domestic. - Reimbursement of Parts replaced is also at a lesser amount than the cost to me. - Even though I purchased the $-0- Deductible Advantage Car warranty, I still have had to come out of pocket for significant portion of repairs - approx. 30-40%. - The slow response from Smart Autocare also puts a real bind on the repair shop as the length of time getting claims resolved ties up their shop and service bays. - I am filing a claim with the Tennessee Consumer Affairs Department in the Attorney General's office. - I will never do business with this company again. Sneaky exclusions compared to other warranty options (Mopar maxcare)

Had a road hazard warranty with them and my wife's tire began to bubble. I replaced the tire at a shop close to home and brought the defective tire to the dealership. When I called Autocare they ​asked if the shop had called them for authorization before replacing the tire. As this was an emergency, I had the tire replaced before calling. The representative advised that the claim would be denied even though the tire had been professionally replaced with the same model of tire. Zero stars for callous treatment. read more

I have a Total exclusionary plan was told covers bumper to bumper. 84 month or 125 thousand mile warranty.Took my car into a dealer for repairs and they found a burnt valve about a 4 thousand dollar repair. This is suppose to be covered under our policy. Smart autocare was contacted and they said it wasn't covered because it has a bike rake hitch on the car that came with the car when we bought it and they put the warranty on it, and the hitch has never been used by us and what does a hitch have to do with a burnt valve. Rude people, not willing to work with anyone. Isn't this fraud. We are contacting our attorney General and better business bureau. We work with extended warranties all the time. This has so far been our worst experience. So far , 5 phone calls, over 2 total hours on hold, and call "dropped" 3 times. Still have no approval, as we are confirmed as to what is covered, but on a 3rd pricing review. You go thru the whole process, then get transferred to another department that then either drops the call, or goes over it all over again. It seems some of this may be purposefull, trying to get you to give up. They want to send the shop the (cheep chinese crap) parts for the repair instead of allowing the shop to use a good quality part. A bottom of the barrel company. read more

One of the young ladies on the phone felt bad but basically told me without telling me that it all came down to the Termanology that was being used and the dealership would have to use a specific Termanology to get it covered but she couldn't tell me what that was. This company is a scam. I repeatedly asked for a manager or supervisor at least 10 times and I was told that she could send me to his voicemail but no one was at their desk and there was NO ONE else that I could speak with. The Volvo dealer suggested and sold us a vehicle warranty by Smart-Auto-Care. When the Volvo engine failed , after less than 63,000 miles, we turned to Smart Auto Care for assistance. For over three months, Mr. Mickey Bratcher and the Smart-Auto Care team, have used attrition and exhausted us, and the Volvo dealer, with conflicting information and unreasuable requests, all in their attempt not to to pay for the repair. One of the many requests was to take apart the engine, at our expense, in order to allow a 3rd party engineer to inspect the engine and approve the necessity of the repair. Which was done. The Volvo dealer has been attempting to satisfy all the requests for information and measurements made by Smart Auto care. They have now given up, and asked us to tow away the dis-assembled, and un-drivable vehicle, from their repair shop. Attention consumers: Please beware and learn from our mistake, the warranties sold by this company will only provide you with peace of mind as long as they are unused in the drawer. When the need will arrise to use these policies Smart-Auto-care will escape responsibility and will exhaust the consumer to the point of giving up their claim. Attention Car Dealers: Do not sell car warranties sold by Smart-Auto care. I drop my car early Monday. It has been a week with no car. I have to take a taxi to work and my costs are adding up. I purchased the extended warranty from Off Lease in Miami they told me to spend the $3600.00 and I will not need to worry about anything that breaks down in the car except normal wear and tear items. I had it for 3 years and never used it for my Volvo XC60. Now the air conditioning is not working and the back hatchback latch doesn't release. My service advisor put the claim in yesterday but a claims adjuster still hasn't been assigned to my claim. So I need to pay for a rental car. I purchased a vehicle and was sold their "comprehensive" warranty. The person representing their company selling me it, made multiple verbal agreements and guarantees that the air suspension components would be fully covered. Few days go by, I notice the suspension is not holding air when parked for durations. Take it to the dealer they find the issues and put together a quote, Smart Autocare/Reliance Protection. Completely refuses to honor the services agreed upon, stating the items are not covered. The car has a full air suspension system, I have multiple documents that state suspension is covered. To include one that says air as the first item listed under suspension components. Spoke to a manager Dan I believe, he was very rude and abrupt. refusing to work with or provide any information requested. I called the following day to ask if they had an appeals process for claims, yet again a combative and rude response. followed shortly after by a call from the manager Dan, his phone call was borderline threatening. In his mannerisms, general word usage and tone of voice. It felt like he was calling to threaten or intimidate me, he had no other reason to call me that to intimidate or harass. A oral contract regarding what was to be covered was agreed upon and the supporting paperwork provided to me and signed by me had all indications such things would be covered. This business had no problem taking my money and when it was their turn to uphold their end of our legally binding contract. They attempt to intimidate and brush to the side, I'm a 100% disabled veteran from wounds received in combat fighting in Afghanistan. I had ten surgeries over four years including an amputation. This company clearly has demonstrated to me they have no regard for their customers and are willing to use intimidation to silence anything they don't approve. The financial and emotional strain they are causing me is completely unwarranted and their attempt at intimidation is completely unjust. read more

Working with Smart Autocare was relatively painless. After needing a transmission replaced to the tune of $7k, Smart Autocare was able to work with our mechanic to ensure that the best parts were used for the job and that it was all covered under warranty. The only negative was that it did take about 3 weeks to get claims approved and processed. We had access to another vehicle free of charge, but if you don't have this luxury and are forced to rent a car while yours is in the shop, it could get expensive. read more

They will find every excuse not to pay, a very shady company. I have been trying to get them to cover a broken part, clearly covered by their warranty for weeks now. The first place I took it to, they didn't "like" and Danny the adjuster made it clear he wasn't going to help anything along. Then I took it to their recommended dealer and they denied the claim because there was a TSB for the car, It's currently expired, but they will not cover the part. The phone call center has no idea how to handle a claim and the adjusters all have terrible attitudes. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy from them. Purchased a 13 F-150 in October of 2021. In March 2022, the turbos started making noises. Had the vehicle towed to a Ford dealer. They determined the passenger side turbo failed and threw metal into the engine. Confirmed with cutting open the oil filter. Warranty company had to send an inspector out, who's sole job is to find anything to deny your claims. Warranty denied the claim because of an aftermarket air filter on the vehicle. An aftermarket air filter, they claim, can cause damage to the air intake system. This isn't some cheap eBay chinese filter, it is an S&B filter that has gone through extensice testing to show the air filter meets or exceeds OE requirements. I talked to the owner of S&B personally. Even with this knowledge, they refused to honor their end of the claim. I am fighting with them on a refund they refuse to talk to me about refunding my warranty. They tell me to go back to the dealer I bought it from. That would be great if the dealer wasn't 2500 miles away. This company is a bunch of crooks. When backed into a corner when they know they're in the wrong, the supervisor will just hang up on you and refuse to answer your calls. I have recorded calls from a supervisor who told me they could care less what I think and they make the rules and that I should just "suck it up and pay the repair bill" (quoted $16k at the dealer). Avoid these scammers like the plague. They only want your money and will do anything to keep it. Buy a warranty backed by the manufacturer instead. read more

Do not use this company. My truck was totaled and they refused to issue me any prorated credit that was due to me . I purchased and paid $2,855 for an extended warranty contract for 36 months or 45,00 miles. when my truck was totaled, I had 29,774 miles or 16 months left. After deducting the $2,307 claim cost of the warranty service I received on my contract, I was due $547.00 which they refused to pay. The customer service representatives were extremely hard to reach and very rude and abrasive once you were able to contact them by phone. Avoid them by any means necessary. I purchased a new 2022 Kia and with that was sold a GAP insurance policy through Smart AutoCare. I lost my car while working at the hospital during Hurricane Ian just 4 months after buying my car. The hospital lost over 300 cars during that storm from employees mandated to work. Smart AutoCare has made paying out the claim IMPOSSIBLE. I submitted every single form, news story and insurance form they requested, and every time they came back with demands for the forms to be submitted in a different format, letters from my auto insurance to be reproduced on specific letter head. While mind you we were in an enormous natural disaster, people from all over the country were here assisting insurance companies etc. My insurance company paid $22,000 and Smart AutoCare has closed the $5,000 claim for my GAP insurance stating inactivity due to the correct forms not being submitted. While this has gone on for 9 months of endless calls, emails and not one ounce of care or help from this terrible company. I have lost my apartment, car and now my credit is being tarnished causing further turmoil after everything we have been through. I am in utter shock of how a company can have so many terrible reviews and still be in business. How is there not a class action lawsuit against this joke of a company. For example if you have a claim on a oil gasket they will pull a recall or TSB from another part near the problem and claim that your problem originated from that so your claim will be denied. The customer service reps you will speak to put you on hold for a ridiculously long time and don't have any first hand knowledge of auto repair. I have no clue why this place are getting bad reviews. My lifters shattered and metal peices went into my motor. These guys are giving me a motor with 26k miles on it. That's 50k+ less miles than my old motor. All I have to do is pay $100 for the deductible. As long as you take care of your car and do all the maintenance. Stay away from Smart AutoCare! We bought a Vehicle Service Agreement when we got a used car. Paid top dollar for the "Total Exclusionary" program. Had three things break at the same time (window regulator/motor, rear door locking mechanism, AC/Heater blower regulator and pigtail wire harness). Took to Ford dealership, who charged $550 for total diagnostic check of the problems. Ford called Smart AutoCare, who said they would only cover two of the broken parts (door latch not covered), and only 3/10 of the estimated labor charges. Our cost would be $1,300+ for the repair. Called Smart AutoCare (including a supervisor) who said other shops in the area would charge less for labor, so we could take the vehicle to them if we wanted to pay less. This was AFTER having to pay the diagnostic fee. They said they would not reimburse for the diagnostic fee, nor would they pay the estimated cost to fix the problems at the Ford dealership. And they wonder why people don't trust these car warranty people who are on t.v. and calling on the phones. They will figure out some way not to cover all that they advertise. Not only have I called them over 10 times trying to receive my final payment , I have sent them a final invoice NUMEROUS times and they claimed they haven't received it. This is an absolute TRAVESTY. I purchased smart autocare's advantage care vehicle service agreement for $3,067.51 from a Ford dealership Dick Edward's. After the owner passed, the dealership was purchased by Valor Fiord. When I arrived for service on my air conditioner for my truck they could'nt find the extended warranty policy, I had to pay the $560 to fix. Got home found the contract and Valor says that Smart Autocare will not pay because there was no authorization prior to the repair. I contacted Smart Autocare directly and asked for an exception since the dealership was informed prior to the repair, they said no. So, I'm out over $3K for a worthless extended warranty and the $560 for the repair. You can be legally right, but they are MORALLY WRONG. My car has been in the shop 15 weeks! They pay well below the prevailing competitive rate for repairs. I work in auto insurance for the largest insurer in the U.S. so am aware of the labor rate in Sacramento Ca. They gave me the companies they polled for labor rate. Called them all and none had the capacity or the computers to work on a Volvo. A smog company, a Shell gas station, a brake service and a oil change were who they were polling labor rates. I needed a major engine block replacement. All said it was not in their wheel house. Sac labor rates are $225/hour. My shop charging $175. They will only pay $135 so I am major out of pocket. The agent who sold me the policy said he no longer will sell Smart Auto Care due to their paying below market labor rates. read more

The adjuster didn't show for a week! Then they bought an after market part and it's taken so far 12 days to ship. They will not cover a rental until the part is there.
