I won't even think about buying a policy from this company. It appears that they believe their job is finished when you pay for a policy, yet they utterly fail in all aspects when delivering on their promise. It is important that you find a reasonable shop that allows for 3rd party parts to be installed. Unfortunately, the Audi dealerships only use "genuine Audi parts" $$$! The worst possible company and customer service ever. While my car is in the shop, I am currently driving my girlfriend's car with BROKEN CV JOINTS, which could cause my steering to go out at any moment, and I have coverage that would include a rental car. The company has failed to approve my claim for over a week, and thus has failed to allow a rental car. I can not afford to rent a car without my warranty's assistance. The company does not care about this situation, me, or my truck. It pains me to leave this company even one star. Some of the call center representatives I've spoken to have been nice, especially Leslie, and I am very appreciative of that, but the length of time that the adjuster has taken and the danger it has put me in with the company's failure to provide a rental car is inexcusable. read more

I actually had a really good experience with this company; despite all the other negative reviews for other customers. I had 2 seperate detrimental issues with my vehicle and both were covered through the warranty company with no hassle; although the shop performing the service handled all contact with smart autocare. The total exclusionary policy with vanishing deductible saved me from coming out of pocket almost $10,000. Contract was worth every penny read more

Have always heard nightmare stories about these warranties and I'm currently experiencing just that. They are trying to get out of warranty work due to the cost. This is not my first car with an after market warranty. This will most likely be the last though. I would not recommend this company to anyone. When my repair facility called them for my first repair the company denied the claim saying the part wasn't covered. It was a covered part however the mechanic had used a term for the part not the official name. Ok so they were confused by this no big deal right? No it took two days of my calls to get them to cover a part that was clearly covered. Now my second repair on the vehicle comes around and because I have a disappearing deductible I should owe nothing. But not so fast, they claim I still owe them a deductible saying I would need to go back to the car dealer to get the disappearing deductible. This jumps out to me as wrong in a number of ways. First off, I now leave out of state. Second the car dealer doesn't offer service. Third, no where in my contract does it say that. However, on the first page it does say disappearing deductible. When I spoke to a supervisor he told me that is a "flag" to them to not change a deductible if you goes to the original car dealership but not part of my contract. That is has nothing to do with them. Then gave me an scenario in which if I had purchased a jeep with an after market lift it wouldn't be covered under their contact unless the dealership added coverage. This to me proved my point as the dealership clearly did add the coverage and they are just denying it. When I called the dealership they said they don't understand what is going on and that they don't even offer to schedule service. If you can explain this as anything other then unethical behavior you are smarter then I am. read more

Don't buy this warranty if you want to bring your vehicle to the dealer and/or use OEM or quality parts. They wont pay the dealer labor rates and wont pay for OEM parts in most cases. They will only pay for the lowest quality parts available. So if the repair facility refuses to put in "junk" parts, you are stuck paying the difference. Smart Autocare literally told me to take my BMW to the Shell station on the corner for a major repair. The Shell station laughed at me and told me to take it to the dealer. The repair was only partially covered, as usual. On a tie rod replacement again, only paid for the cheapest possible part, not full labor, and no payment to reset the alignment as required.... and this was a private repair facility this time. For exclusionary policy that cost $4000, I am always having to pay something since its not fully covered. My policy states "Such expense(s) are not to exceed the manufacturer's suggested retail price for a part and the repair facility's published hourly labor rate multiplied by the appropriate operation time as published in a national labor rate time guide. Replacement maybe made with new, remanufactured or used parts, which are of a like kind and quality comparable with the original design specifications and wear tolerances of Your Vehicle, at the sole discretion of the Administrator" -- its all double speak. It clears says they will pay the manufacturers suggested retail price and not to exceed the repair facility's hourly rate... but no, Smart Autocare says they can install any part, at the lowest price and they don't have to pay the posted hourly rate, they can pay ANY labor rate up to the posted rate...and any part up to OEM costs... pure nonsense and word twisting.....and what they pay and what parts are to be used are at the plans administrators discretion....lots of loop holes for them to pay partial payments. After the company got bought out their service declined even more. You are better off spending a little more and getting a service contract form the dealer you buy the car from or the manufacturers dealer (for a used car) read more

First, it took a month for them to respond. Then, they only paid a fraction of the costs. Second, a turbocharger was also found blown, supposed to be under their warranty, but they declined it. It's been 9 weeks, we're appealing with documents, still no answer. This company needs to be abolished by the Attorney General of Texas...whom we just contacted. This is hands down the worst auto warranty company in the biz. My truck has been in the shop for a total of three weeks. First waiting on them to call the dealer back and a couple more days for an adjuster. After a week and a half they condemned the part but would not use the dealer part on hand and I had to wait for 3-4 days for the part to arrive. Well it's been 6 days and they can't tell where my part is or when it will arrive. So no truck for a month. They will not help with the rental. They will not use factory parts. If I could leave zero stars I would. I bought auto insurance so that I would be ok if something happened to my vehicle. Unfortunately, this company tries their hardest to find the holes in your contract to deny payment. I've had three claims and had to fight tooth and nail each time. This time, I had to drop my car at the dealership so an inspector could review it. That was 10 days ago and I got denied because I missed a recommended flush (at my last oil change.) The dealership rep said that the flush has almost nothing to do with my car's issue. I have been in the phone, calling the last four days to check the status and when I've asked to speak to a supervisor, they transfer me to someone to restart the process. I finally got to a supervisor today and he hung up on me. Also, they will only pay for used parts and only up to a certain rate per hour to pay the mechanic, so I'm stuck with a bill to cover the gap. I'm blown away by the awful service. I've had nothing but great experiences with this company. Used it once for AC issues and my electronic panel was painless. Just used it again today for for a coolant issue and a buzzing noise in the rear of the car and both were covered. No issues with the dealership reaching anyone either times. I highly recommend this company and if I ever need an extended warranty again I will definitely use this company. Smart auto care just really isn't worth it. my car was recently totaled. I had four warranties on such vehicle. I paid for the max time on each policy. The company will only refund 2 of said policies. the other two are not cancelable..( total loss and replacement keys) I'm tryna figure out in what universe is this shit acceptable, to pay for something no longer in existence... how are they covering a totaled car! There is no service/vehicle so how is there a charge! the company is profiting six years extra on two policies for a car that was totaled in 2021. Really not worth purchasing any policies with them. You would be better off paying out of pocket, seeing how they really don't pay for what they are supposed to ( that's a whole other story with them) just please make sure to read your contracts as this company is clearly not as transparent as they make themselves out to be. the customer service was horrible from supervisor Nicole in cancellations. Smart Autocare has been incredibly difficult to work with. The employees on the customer service line are kind but have misinformed us twice in a row now. When my husband bought his car it was branded as Rebuilt, which was an issue by the DMV. We fixed this months ago and were issued a New Title on the car. The power window on the car broke a few weeks ago, and it is listed as one of the items covered by the warranty. I called Smart Autocare before taking the car into the shop to make sure the warranty would cover it, and I was told that I could take it into any shop and it would be covered. So I took it into the repair shop, and they called the warranty company. They were told that since it is a Rebuilt title, they will not cover the car in any way. Which first leads me to question why the warranty company would sell this warranty in the first place when they thought it was a Rebuilt title, which they won't cover. After the car repair company told us this, I again called Smart Autocare to figure out what could be done, as we have had the New Title for months now. We were given an email address to contact and told to email in an image of the New Title, which we immediately did. A few hours later we called again to verify that they had received the proof of the New Title and that the claim would go through soon. The employee informed us that everything was good to go. After another day of not getting back to us, we called Smart Autocare yet again, to inquire about when the claim would go through. This time, we were told that the previous employee had given us the wrong email address and that they had not received the New Title. So we sent the New Title to the new email address they provided. But apparently the warranty company also looks at Carfax, and on Carfax our car was still branded as Rebuilt, so they will still not do anything to help us get the car repaired. This company is horrible and heartless. I paid for the coverage and won't be able to utilize the services that I paid for b/c I didn't get the repair done within 90 days during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. Claim 2103-5020. The process to file my GAP claim has been excruciating. Upon opening the claim they gave me a lengthy list of the documentation I would need. I worked with both my bank and primary vehicle insurance company to obtain all the documentation, even a document that had to be notarized - only to be told time and time again what my own insurance company provided was "not good enough". My insurance broker stated he has worked with many GAP companies and has NEVER had to jump through this many hoops! My claim was finally submitted for processing TWO weeks ago and I still have not heard anything back. I ended up paying off the balance on my loan out of pocket and fingers crossed I will get something back, but not optimistic at this point. From reading reviews on BBB it appears claims have a 90 day window or they expire and go unfulfilled. It would appear that is what is happening with my claim. I used to work at a credit union and offered GAP policies from another company to our members which were very beneficial and easy to claim if it was ever unfortunately needed. I have proof of tow, the damaged tire in my trunk, proof of mavis bill for tire and labor and proof of payment through amex. Autocare will not honor their contract to repair my vehicle Purchased a used vehicle with extended warranty extended by Autocare and the vehicle broke down three months after purchase and the motor needs to be replaced as determined by 3 different mechanics. The vehicle was taken to a ford dealership and Autocare made me tow it to another state to have their preferred vendor to work with it and give them the diagnosis. I had it towed and they determined as well that the vehicle needs a new motor. The car Jumped time and the engine failed. Auto care said that that was enough for them to approve the repair and denied my claim and all cost associated to the diagnostic witch is upward of $500 in addition. I have called and asked to speak with a Supervisor and no call back since last Friday. I asked if they could at least pay for the tow and the labor for determining the cause of failure and they said they would pay nothing. I paid $1,899 for the warranty and they will not honor anything. I want my car fixed as they should honor their contract and they made me tow it across state line to a repair facilty that they recommended. case number is ****-**** with Autocare. Car was first diagnosed by my personal Mechanic, then taken to Sarat Ford in Agawam, MA and then towed again to AAMCO in Manchester CT at their request. I paid for a diagnosis at ford $114.00 Towing to CT $115.00 and now i have a bill of $500+ for the AAMCO shop. and the total cost of repairs is $7,506.38 that i can't afford to pay read more

After seeing all of the reviews for a zero star option I can understand I was not the only one that had an issue with smart auto care. I see now they are very smart because all they do is take advantage of people with their non existent intent to help and solve your problem. Their GAP insurance is a fraud and I will make sure to never do business with these people ever again. My dad was given false information. The claim was filed in the time limit that was given. He didn't even know he would need to use this gap insurance after his car was totaled. He received a call from the car company saying there was a balance of $256.00, can you helieve it. They are allowing a bad rep for $256.00! We asked how we go about this and we were told just drop car off at our mechanic and have him call . We found out that they expected the mechanic to call before he fixed the problem and they did not explain what "authorization " was. We called before hand and asked and expected that was the "authorization". We were told we could get a reimbursement when our mechanic called and when we filed the claim we were of course denied. I have been working with extended contracts for over 30 years. Last week I called to get authorization on a fuel pump sender. They went over the typical details ( VIN, contract # , customer name, mileage, etc ) . Then they wanted to verify customers address. I was like what? that has nothing to do with this. Then I got transferred to a second person ( the adjuster ) where I had to go over the details a second time. After going over the labor times and parts cost, he gave me an authorization number and said to call back when the work was done. He did ask that I take 6 photos of the vehicle ( 4 corners, License ,VIN & mileage ) and email them to them. When we were done with the vehicle I called in to get payment. Then they requested a copy of the invoice. I emailed it over and received another email requesting a customer signature or to write "COVID" on the signature line. I did as requested and received another email requesting customers phone number so they could get a verbal authorization from them. The phone numbers for the customer are already printed on the invoice! Several days go past with no payment. I call in and they said they would send over payment info but when she told me the amount it was less than originally agreed. They were changing the part price. I said "NO!". It was authorized and it is a factory part & price. She started to argue but I was not having it! Then she spoke with her supervisor and she was going to listen to the recorded conversations. She told be to call back in an hr. I said "NO. You call me back when you get it figured out". She said she couldn't do that. I requested to speak to her supervisor. She came back and said she would call me. I received a call a short time later and was told the adjusted to price to what I had requested. Now I have to be transferred to another department to request payment. What? I was thinking. Isn't that what I just did? The next person came on the line and said she would email payment info. After hrs with no email I called again. They had misspelled the email. They obviously have way too many departments and people. I had received several emails already but some how the payment email was wrong??? So all in all it took a week of me working on getting paid with what I would call very poor customer service. I purchase tire & rims insurance for my Mercedes Benz GLE 43 2019 on Oct 22 2019. while driving last week, i hit a curbside and scratched the tire and rims, when we spoke to a customer rep (Amber ext 2012) she said it wasn't cover because it was collision. on section 3, item A (b) of their policy, it states "damage of tire and rims due to impact with curb or sidewall damage". This company is a fraud, i don't understand why Mercedes Benz or any car dealership will be doing business with company. they charge very high and when it comes to coverage cost to your vehicle, they denied you. before doing business with this company do look at the negative reviews and also complaint on BBB from customers like me. read more

This company is the worst place I have ever worked for. The way they treat customers by lying and using the grey areas of contracts to completely screw customers over. They have ways they rate dealerships based on their standing with them. Red, yellow, and green. Red means the dealership no longer sells their contracts so they litterally can do whatever they want and pay as little as they want putting them rest of the customer. Yellow means it's an independent shop so they dont have to negotiate with the shop if they dont want too. And green means the dealership sells their contracts so they pay them whatever the dealership asks for. Keep in mind "red" dealerships have nothing to do with customers so if your dealership just happens to not have a good standing eith smart autocare then the customer gets screwed over. read more

My previous experience with this company was acceptable, now, however, after having 2 bad experiences in a 1 week period, I can say AVOID AT ALL COSTS! The delays in obtaining approval for a replacement of a cracked wheel, and tire, are unbelievable. After receiving pictures of a cracked wheel, the adjuster asks the dealership if the wheel can be repaired. The immediate response is no, we don't repair cracked wheels, that can't hold air. Hours later, no follow up response to the dealership, I need to get my car, and leave early the next morning, so I have to pay for the work, and told to file a claim. 3 days later, the front wheel, on the other side, same thing happens. Start the process all over again. This time, I'm constantly following up, every hour with the representatives (having to hold and wait my turn), pictures received, not uploaded for the adjuster yet. Call an hour later, they never received the pictures, so I resent the pictures the dealer had sent. They received them, and the adjuster will call the dealer right away. An hour later, not heard from, so I call again. Speak to another rep, who gets me a adjustor, who says that they will negotiate prices with the dealer, and get this done, so I can leave, they know the technician leaves at 5PM, and the service advisor at 6PM. I'm on the phone at 4:30, assured it will get done. I call again, and at 4:55, I'm told the person that has to approve, has left for the day. Again I pull out my credit card, so I can take my car, and hit the road at 6AM the next morning, and told that my claim will be cancelled if I do this. I have no choice, I'm now out of pocket $3,000. I send all the invoices, reference #'s for the 2 case files, to the claims department, and miraculously, I get a response within minutes. I'm denied all claims, because I didn't get pre-approval for the repairs. Try and get preapproval, it takes days, a denial takes seconds!! AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!! i did send a copy of my claims to the CEO, let's see if he's any more responsive than the employees that work for him. I'm not optimistic, but I will gladly come back and edit this, if he does the right thing!!! read more

I paid top dollar for their 5 star policy for 36 months. My car needs an alternator which is covered. They pitched so much how they work with dealers. My car is stuck at the dealer because they will not pay them for the dealer recommended alternator. They want to pay an extremely unreasonable amount for an alternator on a Lexus. The part is by Denso. According to the policy, the replacement has to meet or exceed manufacturer's requirements. According to Denso, the part they want to send to the dealer (to avoid paying the dealer) is rated at about 85% compared to manufacturer's requirements. It is considered a second line product meaning that it only meets Denso's requirements for that product. I spoke to Denso and that is what they told me. So much for encouraging me to go to the dealer when I bought the policy. Now they want to tow my car to a local mom & pop shop with a horrible reputation. My car is held hostage for a part that is covered under their policy. Avoid this company at all cost. They treat you badly over the phone. They yell at you. They also try to treat you like you do not know anything. If I could give them a negative five review, I would. They are terrible and should not be doing business. Their BBB rating is one star.
