My vehicle was totaled out and I was left with a $6800 balance. I had to fight and pull their teeth for MONTHS to get them to payoff off my claim. I would give 0 stars if I could. I was riding with my friend Esther Anthony and her family. She recently had a transmission replaced by you guys in the last year that was a crappy rebuilt nissan cbt transmission. While i was riding with her the same problem that was wrong with the old transmission started happening again to where we had to pull off every few minutes on the shoulder of an expressway so the car would start picking up speed again. Which was extremely dangerous and we had a child in the car too! They refuse to pay for a new one even though they gave her a faulty trans as a replacement. Why don't these review sites allow a "0" (zero) rating. DO NOT use Smart Auto Care. In early 2021, I purchased a used 2012 Land Rover LR4. I spent an additional $4150 for a "Premier" vehicle service contact with Smart Auto Care (SAC). for 60 months, 75k miles with a $100 deductible. Fast forward ~2 years and the check engine light came on. I took it to a local Land Rover repair facility, one that specializes in Land Rover vehciles. I've been going to this facility for my other Land Rovers for 20 plus years. Reputable and do good work. I use one other facility "in the area" and sometimes the dealership for oil changes of they have a special. After some checking, it was detemined that the vehicle had a code P0018 relative to camshaft/crankshaft discrepancy. After additonal diagnosis, it was determined that the timing chain is loose and therefore required a set of parts/procedures to be performed, total estimate ~$5200. ~$2000 of which is parts and $3177 of which is labor. And there's where my nightmare begins. According to SAC, they use an "average" of local labor rates to come up with an amount that they will pay. That isn't stated anywhere in the policy and so far, they have told me there is no way they can adjust the labor rate. They use the first 4 facilities that come up in a 25 mile radius search using Repairpal and then average those. They make no disctinction between an oil change corner gas station, or the dealership. They don't care. Not even for a premium vehicle. So, in the end, I have a $4100+ contract and a $5200 repair bill that will cost me $1700+ out of pocket because they want me to take to some random shop. Yes, they are paying for the parts and part of the labor, but nowhere near the cost of the repair and me having to pay the $100 deductible. DO NOT BUY a contract from Smart Auto Care unless yu understand this. If you have a local shop or a non specialized or non high end vehicle, it may work for you, but any premium automoble with specialized repair services or needs will NOT be covered because of hte "average labor rate" thing they are doing. For refercne, dealer rate is $245/hr, my shop is $205/hr and they are willing to pay $120/hr. Timing chain job is rated at 18.4 hrs according to the adjuster, so with the ~$80 difference in labor, it will only cost me ~$1500 plus tax, fees, deductible to get a repair done that IS covered under this contract and I should only have to pay $100. NOWHERE in the contract does it state that they "use an average" of local repair facilities. I was told I can take to any shop, which I can, but the contract says its at "their sole discretion..." and "..."we will pay UP TO...the published rate"....and they may request that I have the vehicle moved. I just read it that they of course, wouldnt pay over the shops published. I didnt think I had to know that they use some "average" calculation behind the scenes and wont pay the published rate, they will only pay the average rate of shops THEY choose based on their 3rd party software. They were very clear they are not requestiing I have it moved, only that they have no way to adjust the labor rate. Policy clealry states, "sole discretion" - so they do in fact have the right to pay "up to" the $205/hr at the Land Rover specialized facility, but they will ONLY pay the average of the mom and pop corner stores within 25 miles of ~$121 hr. TOTAL SCAM. ANYTHING TO NOT HAVE TO PAY. Update: I called the first 4 shops in the list that SAC provided, and SAC told me that these are the shops they use "to get an average labor rate" and all 4 shops said that they cant or wont work on my vehicle due to capability and or experience. How is it legal for SCA to provide repair facility labor rate comparisons from shops that CANNOT even do the work. All I am asking is that they pay the rate f the shop that my vehicle is at, nothgn more. They cant even provide a rate that is 60% of what the shop charges. SO I am stuck with paying 40% because they list shops that have some mysteriously low labor rate but when you call, they cant do the work. Again, they are scamming people out if their money because when it comes time for them to meet their obligations they have no answer and wont step up. New Update: Case was escalated to the "Power Train Manager" of SAC, Gary. He called me this morning and without me saying anything, he agreed to my email proposal of meetng in th emiddle of a the shop wher eits at $205/hr, and the shop that I called frm their list that quoted $160/hr. So they Agreed to $182.50/hr. I will cover the rmeaning remaining $20/hr. While I don't feel 100% whole in regards to the policy, I ddi offer that compromise, it was accepted and I feel that Gary made it very easy to meet them in the middle so that I am mostly covered and feel like i wasnt completed cheated or have to cover some crazy high repair bill. Smart Auto Care's customer service is absolutely horrible! My GMC Canyon has been sitting at the dealership for weeks as they and I jump through all the hoops for repair. Repair was approved by the adjuster but parts had to be provided by their supplier. Twice now, parts have been delayed in shipping with the most recent still "pending" in tracking. While I do understand that SAC cannot control FedEx deliveries, they certainly can let the shop that is working on my vehicle source the parts locally or reship then file claim with FedEx. Additionally, when I or the service advisor from the mechanic have called SAC, hold times are extremely long (sometimes over an hour) and phone calls are not being returned. I just spoke to Joe, a power train supervisor today, phone number (214)389-8720 he was going to return my call and did not. My service advisor has placed multiple phone messages with another power train supervisor again with no return call. Very disappointed with the lack of service provided from Smart Auto Care. read more

I purchased the extended warranty when I bought my Lexus sedan. It was a lease return vehicle. I have been happy with the car and had it serviced according to the manufacturer protocols. About 6 months ago I began to have a dull clunk in what sounded in the cab like a motor mount type noise that was pronounced in city driving. I had our regular mechanic look at it and ask the warranty people if they would evaluate the struts. They were very difficult to reach on the phone ( average waiting time over 20 minutes, the recording states that there are over 10 customers in line ahead of you everytime you call). Once he got them ( after giving up several times to conduct other business in his shop) they arranged for an adjuster to come over. He looked at the undercarriage and said that the problem wasn't from the struts. My mechanic tightened up what he could do and we motored on till about four weeks ago. I took the car to a Goodyear service center and asked them to evaluate the same ( now louder) noise. They determined that the struts and control arms, as well as,the tires were in need of attention. They, too, tried unsuccessfully to reach out to the warranty dealer (with wait times of over 10 minutes). I called the company and was told that any conversations on service would need to be held with the inspector and the garage tech. I could sit at the garage and wait on hold till they got together if I chose. Not my idea of a good scenario. After about a week of phone calling tag the inspector was dispatched and authorized the control arms repair. SmartAutoCare bought the parts, as they could get them cheaper than the garage. That also took 3 extra days to get the work started. I purchased 4 new tires and paid to have the car front end aligned. The struts were $1700 apiece and could only be sourced through Lexus. I paid my part of the bill and came home to make a complaint through the only phone number I have or could find on the web. The noise was still in the back of the car. It took me three tries to get to an agent, as i was disconnected twice on their "new" phone system. I requested a copy of the inspection report and what would constitute failure of the strut definition. They promptly emailed the inspection report, but the tech on the help line said that they needed to be leaking. I asked to speak with the supervisor or register a complaint in their review process and was given the mailing address with no "attn: to" info. I am going to ask for another review with inspector and myself being present, otherwise i'll just wait till the strut factures and drive my car sounding like a jeef vs. the f - type I bought. Overall, one of the all-star lowest customer service experiences I've had in 72 years. The only plus so far is that the person on the other end is an english as a first language speaker. read more

I know now I should hade read the reviews on smart Autocare ... but hind site is 2020. My mechanic tried 3 times to get thru to there office for review and a claim # and each time got frustrated with hang ups and long wait times Honestly they have plenty of other paying customers to take care of. So now even thou I called when I broke down and got a Service claim # they act like I didn't get the correct information and approval. They knew I had a problem with my car. I couldn't even get a tow company to come out when they heard who I was represented by. I finally called AAA and they were there in 20 min after waiting 3 hours for help from This is the second claim and the last time they stiffed me for 1/2 the bill as well. They expect to take there time and tie up your car for days on approval and parts. They hunted me down for my business, but now I'm just a customer they can decline to pay. It seams as though they try to drag it out so long that the customer would give up and just pay the bill to the shop so they don't have to pay anything. On Dec 5th I had my car towed to the Infiniti dealer of Orlando. On Dec 6th Infiniti submitted inspection info. On Dec 13th we finally heard back from warranty company (JD). Stated that they will provide engine but Infiniti's rate ($230) is over the average rate that the warranty company will pay for ($145). And that I'd be responsible for the cost. JD (warranty rep) suggested that I shop around to other shops to find lower rate to avoid me having to pay any balance. I spoke it over with the Infiniti shop and they were willing to reduce the rate to $199. JD stated that I'd be out of $3000 with that rate. I began shopping around and found Service Center of Orlando. On Dec 19th, I had my car towed to Service Center of Orlando. Spoke with head mechanic Richie. On Dec 22nd, they completed the diagnostic test and results were the same as Infiniti's. I need a new engine. This information was related to the warranty company on Dec 27th. A claim was created. Claim number: 2312-10606. On Jan 3rd, the warranty company requested an estimate. The estimate was emailed over same day. Richie provided a screenshot as confirmation for my records. On Jan 5th the warranty company sent out an inspector. The inspector checks the car and inform Richie that the car needs a new engine and he will suggest this to the adjuster (JD). We could not get in touch with JD for a number of days and on Jan 11th, he contacted Richie and stated that they will only replace the coolant reservoir because the inspector stated that there was a leak. Richie informed JD that the inspector never performed a test on the coolant reservoir nor did he request the auto shop to do so. Richie emailed JD a video and picture of them testing the coolant reservoir during the initial inspection, no indication of a leak, with that JD stated that he spoke with his supervisor and they will only cover the coolant reservoir replacement. I've paid on this warranty for 5 years, never had a problem with my car. Routine maintenance and ware and tare on tires, wiper blades, brakes etc. Please assist. Ugh. Read the fine print, which we didn't receive when Colorado Springs Dodge sold us an unlimited Total Exclusionary policy on a RAM. Total engine replacement. They won't cover many components of the replacement...not even spark plugs. Exhaust manifolds on both sides failed. "Due to hardware" is what they said...so they don't have to cover. Took too long for them to determine what they were going to honor and was without a vehicle for 5+ weeks. Your mechanic will have to fight for you throughout the process. Worst experience ever, They will find all the excuse to not pay. Purchase my car at 49373 miles , my AC Actuator mechanically failed at 50400 miles , leaving my AC not working at 90 degree weather. As per the computer said it was faulty at 49200 miles I tried to explain to them that it was working, the code is a fault code. and it can stay there for awhile until it clears itself. It could have been a small debris that got the actuator door stuck during that time and it cleared out. But now the actuator is actually broken. I haven't seen my care for a week now. I was duped by Endurance into a policy with this company that I have never heard of. I had engine failure 6 months after purchasing my vehicle and this warranty company denied my claim twice , and as the engine continued to fail they breached our contract because of the cost of repair. Initially the 2nd claim was approved until the prices came in and then they denied it. They're using the excuse that I continued to drive it after they denied the claim earlier this year but had they upheld my contract none of this would have happened so I guess they expected for me to just park my car and leave it forever since they wouldn't cover the repair. I have an expensive all inclusive warranty on my 2017 jeep. The front driveshaft went out. My mechanic filed a claim and they said my jeep was still under the factory warranty. I purchased a warranty through endurance, and suddenly, it is administered through smart auto. I was also told to definitely take it to a dealership if any work was needed when I purchased this warranty. The first issue I had, they would not cover the labor rate. I called them several time and sat on hold for 50 to 60 min each time. They told me that the average labor rate was 150 and the dealership is charging 235 per hour, so I needed to cover the difference. The dealer quoted 9 hours, and Smart Auto will only pay 5 hours. Agan, I need to cover that as well. WTF? I asked who I needed to go to that would charge an hourly rate they would pay in the time they allow, and I was told anyone in the repair pal app. I went to the app and called every repair shop within a 25-mile radius and found that the cheapest is 230 per hour for this car. I again called Smart Auto and asked where they got the 150 per hour from. They said it was an average labor rate for the area. How can that be? To be an average, that means they found shops at half that rate. I asked where those places were, and they said there is nothing they could do. I spent 8 or more hours on the phone and had a huge bill to get my vehicle repaired. This company is absolutely the worst, and Endurance is no better for doing the old bait and switch. If they told me Smart Auto was going to service the contact, I would have read reviews and for sure would have gone somewhere else. Even worse, endurance sent me an email offer to cover this vehicle, and then after purchase, they say we can't help. read more

The warranty company has to purchase the parts, and good luck finding a shop that will accept outside parts for repairs. if you do find one, depending on the type of repairs, it could take months to get your vehicle back. I have the top tier plan and even though they did pay out twice on it, I also had to pay out of pocket for deductibles both times and they will not approve original parts, which my mechanic was not happy about. They took forever to approve the claim, therefore leaving me with a rental car bill of 10 days and then they have the audacity to only refund me for 2 days worth of the rental. My car was inoperable, and I can't go without a car when I have jobs and family and responsibilities. I'm paying $5000+ on this BS warranty and you can't cover my car rental? I know there's lots of negative reviews here, and I didn't read them until AFTER I needed to use this warranty, so I was scared to death. However after having my F150 diagnosed with a bad turbocharger on the driver side, a claim was submitted by my dealership, and a brand new turbocharger (at least $1200) was approved within 24 hours. I think many of the negative reviews come from people whose repair isn't covered by this warranty. There are certain tiers that cover certain things. I have the total exclusionary, and the process was trouble free. Read your warranty! If you only purchased one type of coverage, not everything will be covered. They do not pick up the phone and miraculously they have over 10 callers ahead of you as soon as they open. It is an absolute scam and atrocious unprofessional customer service. Trust the NEGATIVE reviews for this company! I tried calling but there was a long wait time. The recording repeatedly said to email so I did. I emailed them at 9:44 in the morning. They didn't respond until 9:45 the next morning (they waited to respond exactly 24 hours!). At that time repairs had been started and they were quick to respond again to let me know they would not be paying anything! Their emails were not tactful and very upsetting. Their part would have been $257 so if they go out of their way this much for small claims I can only imagine the hoops they will make you jump through for larger ones! read more

This company SMART AUTO CARE has managed to provide the worst customer service experience ever. My claim (2305-829) was filed May 2nd 2023. It is May 25th 2023 still nothing, nothing has been done. The adjuster has called me once. The repairs in the claim are clearly covered in the contract yet they are just stringing me alone. The adjusters (I have had 2 of them) will not answer the phone, neither will their supervisors. Bottom line I have paid all monthly premiums promptly and ontime. In return the service I have received is non-existent. This company SMART AUTO CARE has not delivered anything for except disappointment. No stars read more
