It's a great place to buy in bulk if you don't have a Costco or Sam's Club membership. First Street brand has some good products as well, so I don't mind buying the generic brand of certain things like their cotton candy. Located on Madison Ave and Los Alamos Rd in the Murrieta Madison Square shopping center near Best Buy with plenty of parking. I needed bulk ingredients for a work potluck (108oz chili and a tub of sour cream) and knew I'd find them here. No membership needed. I enjoy Smart & Final stores because they carry both, standard grocery sized and club-sized, bulk items. They offer fresh produce, bakery section, meats, dairy, fresh flowers, and more. The store is clean, spacious, fully stocked, and well-organized. Shout out to 'Robert' for a speedy and friendly service at check-out. Not smart to shop here and the only thing extra here are their prices. We were turned off by the over priced pumpkins at the door and their "fresh" flower section where 95% of it was all wilted or beyond dead. All the employees here at this location look completely miserable and long lines with only one register open. Would not return, this was our first visit and we were completely disappointed! Went to the 99 cents store and got a pumpkin for half the price of this store as well as cute potted flowers for 1/3 the price of your dead flowers. read more

in Murrieta, CA. This small warehouse-type store is a good alternative for the big ones. Albeit, items will cost a few cents more here than at the big Whse stores, but if you factor in your gas, your time, the ease of parking, it may be worthwhile. You will find just about anything you are looking for from produce to bakery, wine/spirits. It is always clean, even the restrooms, and that means a lot these covid days. I have witnessed her numerous times going above and beyond for her customers and coworkers. She is friendly and always has a welcoming smile. One of my favorite places to grocery shop. Never thought I'd say that about a bulk store, but they recently remodeled and they have more fruits and veggies, great meat and cheese selection and all the usual breads. Christina is amazing! She remembers her customers and has such a positive attitude. All the staff is pleasant and it has become one of my go-to stores. I could not be more livid. Naturally I feel the need to vent via the internet. I came to this Smart & Final over a month ago and asked about purchasing a large order of beer while buying some other items. The checkout clerk tells me I can just call a week before and they can order it for me. I wait a few weeks and I call and place the order. The girl on the phone takes all of my information and I ask how much it will be. She explains It has to be paid for in person which I totally understand. They need to confirm someone over 21 is purchasing it. No problem. I ask if they need a card on file or anything. Nope. Okay I assume it's all taken care of. The day comes for me to pick up the beer. I call before driving over. I am told they have my beer in back- not super happy that it's warm but whatever. I drive to Smart & Final and ask to pay. I am then told they DO NOT HAVE MY BEER BECAUSE IT WAS NEVER ORDERED! So as a friendly reminder- maybe think twice before relying on this company to fulfill your party needs. If I could give my recent experience zero stars, I definitely would. I had an employee (AMANDA) flat out lie to me about changing a price tag on an item that was on sale. I raised no fuss when paying, just let her know that it was. wrong and honesty was all I wanted as a customer. That was all fine and dandy though, I get it. But to add salt to the wound, Amanda then proceeds to talk about my aunt and I as were are exiting the store. That's when my aunt turned around and gave Amanda a good tongue lashing for being dishonest and disrespectful. Her manager Shelley was of no help at all and told me to exit the store. This store needs new management. Perla and Christina are rude and always talking. They cannot be bothered for anything. They are rude to their cashiers also when cashiers call them to open or for help. I have witnessed this on numerous occasions. Associates are seen wearing air pods while working and do not provide you with any customer service. Perla will be on an aisle listening to music on speaker on her phone... very unprofessional. Be careful and check your dates. I always have to check dates when I buy yogurt because usually the first one I grab is expired. The gentleman who works in deli is rude and unhelpful. He says if its empty on the shelf we do not have it and then I have had another associate go out of her way to make him help me and there was more product on top. If you have a baby with you this is not the place to shop. I was with my daughter and Granddaughter and the baby had a massive blowout. But, there is no changing station in the store. There's plenty of room to install one but, apparently no one cares to. So, we had to change the baby in a shopping cart. Super sanitary right? We did bag the diaper and throw it in the trash. This used to be a good store. The staff was courteous and cared about customers. The prices were comparable and the restrooms were taken care of. This store is steadily slipping in its quality all the way around. I was in there yesterday and I had a problem with one of the products literally exploding when I picked it up. I went to one of the staff who didn't seem to care whether I had a problem or not. When I went into the restroom to get cleaned up, the water pressure was very low and there were no paper towels. I had to walk around with oil in my shoe. The checker was really slow and pretty arrogant. Not a very good finish for as bad of an experience as I had. Their prices were high. I'd have a much better experience going to Costco. At least I know what I'm getting into with Costco. I'm going to think twice about going back to this Smart & Final! read more

Funny how different Smart & Final stores can be, depending on who is running the show. Went today because they are the only store that carry bulk buy, Lipton iced tea bags that make a gallon of tea per bag. Way cheaper than using the small, single cup tea bags and S & F has a good enough price to make a trip rather than order from Amazon or something. Now I'm not so sure after visiting this location. SO MANY pallets in the aisles making it hard to navigate certain areas of the store but bigger problem yet is that all the food was sitting there with no one putting the stock away! Unbelievable...hams in boxes sitting out near the deli case for who knows how long with no employees in sight. Plus, only one cashier so it's not like everyone suddenly had to open up some more lanes. I would hate to be the poor bum who bought one of those hams that sat out of refrigeration. Unless there is a big change in how this store does business I will only buy our gallon iced tea bags, and not any potentially spoiled food items. read more

Went to go pick up hotdogs at this store for a cookout and we saw the big package for $3.99.. go up to a cashier named Mary who scans it and it comes to $11.99 for being Beef Franks (guess hot dogs were sold out but the franks were left there). No signs at all saying $11.99 so basically had product thrown in the mix without them taking the proper steps to sign the franks. Mary then said oh the $3.99 price is probably the smaller size. No Mary... the smaller packages don't even exist for the Beef Franks for the Farmer John brand. So I said I didn't want them but she needs a void for the ridiculous $11.99 price.. manager comes over, does the void and Mary goes on and says, "They thought they saw it for $3.99." To which we said.. no there isn't a sign and you have your product mixed with the $3.99 wieners. She just ignored it. Once void went through, paid the rest for my transaction and she puts it through as Foodstamps.. when I'm clearly using a wellsfargo debit card. Had to wait a few minutes because the system is apparently slow at clearing out because she goofs yet again. TL;DR Mary is a terrible cashier. Smart and Final is great for your basic prepackaged foods like chips yogurt canned goods etc. I'm honestly not a fan of the meat department (really small) the fresh fruit & veg had been hit and miss for me (I'm very picky on those). I am impressed with their First Street store brand. The canned corn and green beans are great, my only issue is that they only sell spinach in huge restraunt size cans. I would love some smaller cans of spinach. I prefer their split top bread for a filter and change. The store is clean and the staff are excellent. One gentleman pulled down an item that was on top of three others on the top shelf. Cashiers are great and very cautious with your squishable items. I will continue to shop here. read more

I shop here for my business just about daily. Best price for Torani syrups when you buy 6 at a time, total bargain and if they don't have the flavor I need I can order it no problem. Torani fruit smoothie mix is also great price but I wish they carried more flavors. I see some reviews complaining about crowded aisles but the employees are very accommodating about moving things out of the way. Personally I am glad they are always restocking so they have everything I need in stock. I love Smart & Final! They carry things you just can't find anywhere else and they don't extort you at the price register which is a bonus. I'm a huge fan of Costco and Sam's Club, but good old Smart & Final comes through every time. I shop here for my catering jobs and find that they have really great prices on almost everything in the store. My recommendations: -don't buy produce here, its usually not ripe or old -if you buy meat use it immediately or freeze it -watch for their little red stickers that will give you 50% or 25% off your item -their store brand is really good and cheap -the lines can be VERY long, so don't try and rush in and out -they more than likely have more of whatever you are looking for so just ask The cashiers have always been very nice and friendly when we have been in, and I will continue to shop at this location. read more

This store is great as far as value goes. It's pretty close to my work and is very convenient for me to stop in here fairly often to pick up odds and ends on my way home. It's always clean and fairly well organized. The only reason they get a three stars instead of four or five is because the staff seems very disorganized. Particularly in check out, I understand that there are difficult customers, but it seems like every time I come in, check out takes forever because the person behind the register doesn't know how to assist their guests with rainchecks or whatever randomcircahappenstance is going on. The shift leads need to coordinate with one another better as well, because there have been two occasions now when they have tried to call someone to the front lanes to assist with checkouts during the unfortunate back ups, after that person had already been sent home for the day. I called to see if they had a brand and product that I needed for a recipe I needed to make, I waited on the phone as he checked and when he came back on the phone I was assured by him that they had it, I explained that it was an hour round trip from my home to there store and I had no other reason to come to that area but oh yes they had lots. I come to Smart and Final pretty regularly to get paper goods and coffee. Their can coffee prices are comparable to Costco, which means I don't have to fight throngs of people, which I like. Their paper coffee cups, plastic forks and plates, etc are reasonably priced. Their food section is somewhat limited but you can probably get most of what you need there. read more
