I was expecting a caring empathetic response from Smart & Final. Instead I received a typical canned generic reply from a billion dollar Corporation; paraphrasing, that they have addressed my matter and look forward to my purchasing from them. No apology at all. Stopped by here quickly to grab some salsa before work. I know random, right? Well I made myself a taco lunch and my work is nearby this location. I didn't want to eat my tacos dry. I went in really quick to get exactly what I needed. The lady was playing on her phone and seemed annoyed that I interrupted her. It wasn't the best environment if you expecting friendly or just plain respectful service. However I did run into a person that was stocking the salsas and that gentleman was so kind. He said good morning and asked me if I needed help. Frankly it seems the two workers are in the wrong position. One should be dealing with the customers because he seems good at it and seems to enjoy it. While the cashier lady in the front is definitely anti social and maybe being in the stock room and rarely having customer interactions would suite her better. read more

This Smart and Final thinks of the best originating model experiences from the previous years before for being an everlasting shopping experience that I used to always see from my days of growing up near the village and the USC School I don't ever make an upset complaint to these people and these people don't ever give me an unsatisfactory issue of their customer service and work or art on keeping the the inside of their area in the work of the building with bringing in new workers is good and the place isn't so compact its the aisles that could be larger and the stocks are always receiving an income of food it doesn't ever run out it's usually a clean time to stock when they get to a rare medium type of low on time too! They could wait until all the food is used up and have more hiring spots I think it shows nonsense to have side comments when your working the job too some workers have this attitude when they clock in and other workers have this clean personality of customer service and not servicing ghetto it's only some days when they don't clear traffic in their small aisle and they should help relieve their workers for more parties workers to work their shift or take shift and have no attitudes or side comments when it should be always served with customer service and no hesitate on a mess up in your aisle overall they all good and outstanding workers to help everyone in the fast lane but nothing helps to share the road and lane the way people share line advice of who could go first which I don't have a problem with all of them. And every customer who goes there shows a great example of not being petty. The manager looks helpful I met them and always want to know if they are hiring because I plan on working at almost every single job possible and because I plan on meeting my friends this way while I school out! Big, clean store. Easy going employees. Nice wide aisles in the store make shopping there a pleasure. I like to spend my time stocking up on my essentials, especially the store brand items that are usually cheap. My only gripe is that some of the store brand items run out fast and they don't get restocked fast enough. Checkers are friendly for the most part. I wish they would install self-checkout machines, like Ralph's or Vons. If they did, I would be there all the time, instead of going to those two other stores. read more

This is the worse Smart&Final location I've ever shopped at. The store's temperature was teeth shattering cold. I was very uncomfortable while shopping. The isles are very tight. It feels like they are closing in on you. They aren't even wide enough to turn your basket around in the opposite direction. The checkout lines are tight as well. It's game day and we needed something to contribute to the tailgate. Oh, we know! Bad head-ache inducing sangria! We got two jugs. With tax, it came out to be under $17. The check out ladies were so funny though. When they saw we had only the two jugs, they moved the man in front of us through in a right hurry. They also made sure we knew how to properly handle the jugs and were worried we'd drop them. One said she had been drinking the stuff since 1992. And mentioned how she should have put one in the cooler before she started her shift so it'd be nice and cold for when she took it home. Wow. It was just a party in the Smart & Final. I like this Smart and Final. They open early and stay open late ('til 10 p.m.). I love getting water in cases or gallons) at a great discount. I'm not too happy with the fact that a person can't get "healthy" (high fiber/low sugar) cereals and breads there, though. The prices on many items are terrific. The prices on the toothpaste and shampoo, etc., not so much (they're on the higher side). The cat food is no bargain (usually), either. I think what I like, are the hours, and discounts on the non-edible (non-food) items. What I don't like is, that there aren't any healthy alternatives for food items (pasta made from brown rice; all natural ice cream; cookies made with only 6 or 7 ingredients). I'm guessing the healthier food items would make the prices more expensive, and may not be good sellers, though. So, I give Smart and Final 4 our of 5 stars. Usually a bit crowded but they do keep everything organized and stocked well sometimes you can find some really good pastries on the discount Shelf, they have a good amount of stuff for businesses and also a lot of stuff geared towards students since it's right across the street from USC. Smart & Final is cheap ... Realllllllly !!!! Did you go to another place to find out by yourself witheir it is a cheap one or not ?!! It is up to you, but for me I think it has higher price range than ralphs, and more expensive than Food For Less (when speaking about USC area), since I have bought from all of them. But in total, man .. I think I bought double amount of my grocery from Super Kings with only around half of the price. Besides, I have gone to many places which are much cheaper than Smart & Final. In general, even though it is small, they have a good variety of things. I hate only when I come to Cashirs, there always will be only one or two, and the rest of them will never move their asses to help during rush time! Besides, I remember one night I tried to get bread for dinner, and it was around 8:40 exactly, they refused to let me in even though they close at 9:00. I told them I only want the bread and it is not going to take one minute and that 20 minutes is left for them to close, with that they saied to me: NO .. Come tomorrow!!. Based on my experience with them, I'll give them only 2/5, since really I have experienced much mooore better than them, in price and in services. read more

I guess the prices are pretty reasonable, but I don't know if I'll trust the quality of their fresh produce, eggs, and other perishable items. I came here to quickly grab plastic utensils and a lighter for my friend's birthday party. So in terms of convenience, this location is pretty ideal because it's right outside of Gate 6 at USC. read more

Yeah I hate this place but it's just so darn convenient, since it's located right at the gate to USC. I always stop here before going home, thinking it'll be a quick trip since I just need 1 thing, but there's no such thing as a quick in and out at this location. There are 6 or so checkout lanes, but only ever 1 or 2 open at a time, no express lane. That just doesn't work at a warehouse type store. A lot of people are buying a ton of stuff at once, so those of us who just need a handful of things are stuck waiting in line behind other customers who are buying enough to last the next month. Also I don't even think prices here are cheaper compared to other supermarkets. They do have some good deals on fruit or veggies each week though. But in all, the produce section is small. Frozen food and alcohol is where this place really shines. read more

The Smart and Final at this location is terrible. They treat customers with the same enthusiasm as a slaughterhouse worker treats his daily cattle quota. The express lanes are rarely open and when they are, item number limits are not enforced. Perishable items can be found in non-perishable aisles, which speaks tons about their attention to detail. If you don't check expiration dates, you are screwed, since they do an excruciatingly poor job. But the biggest insult of all is the waiting time at the registers. This location is either severely understaffed or is simply indifferent to people's wasted time. Given the frequent lines I've observed and the number of staff members walking around the store like ticket scalpers at Dodger's stadium, I would say the second explanation is likelier. Be forewarned: this is an earthly purgatory in which a big chunk of your precious life will be WASTED. Avoid at all cost! read more

While in line waiting to check out a super drunk woman meandered into the line and proceded to fall ass over head into a woman in line's shopping cart. She didn't drop her gallon sized bottle or red wine though. I was sort of surprised that the cashier rung her up and then set her off on her merry staggering way.
