I'm not the kind of person who likes waiting in long lines -- it's totally not my thing. But recently, I heard from friends that the new big purple tote bag at Trader Joe's had become extremely popular and was released on Monday morning, March 23th. So I called a Trader Joe's in Burbank early that morning, and they said they still had some in stock--but they would probably sell out within about 30 minutes. I rushed over, but when I arrived there, they were already completely sold out. They told me more might come in later around 5 PM. So, I called the Glendale location, but the line was busy for a while, and when I finally got through, they told me they were also sold out. After that, I kept calling the Sherman Oaks location, but no one answered, so I decided to go there in person. Unfortunately, both locations there were already sold out as well. Later, one of our group members shared that the USC Village location would be restocking at 6 PM that evening. So I headed to the Trader Joe's at USC Village and arrived there at 5:07 PM. I was honestly shocked when I arrived with my Mom --the line was incredibly long. But I decided to stay and wait, and after about an hour in line, My Mom and I finally managed to buy two of the big purple tote bags per person. I also picked up the mini bags in green, blue, purple, and pink--one of each color. It's not even something huge, but after waiting in line for an hour to get them, I felt so happy. I can't believe I actually stood in line that long just to buy bags--but it was totally worth it. I might be visiting Korea sometime this year, so I bought these as gifts for my relatives. I really hope they'll love them--especially knowing that I waited in line for an hour to get them! cf) Before heading to the Trader Joe's USC Village location, I called to confirm whether the big purple tote bags would really be restocked at 6 PM. A man answered the phone and was incredibly kind--he confirmed that they would be restocking at 6 PM and even wished me "good luck," which made me smile. read more

Trader Joe's is exactly the right grocery store to have on the college campus. I've been a Trader Joe's regular since moving to California, and I love how this store stays compact while still offering everything you need for nourishment. The produce selection is especially strong -- from Persian cucumbers (hard to find elsewhere) to cabbages, huge cauliflowers, and a solid variety of greens and salads. Between fresh, ready-to-go, and frozen options, it's easy to eat well without spending a lot. This location is often very busy and easily has the longest lines I've seen at any TJ's -- but they run it exceptionally well and staff it properly. The other day, I stood in a line that wrapped from the liquor section, through meat and dairy, and ended near bakery-- and it still took less than 15 minutes. Really impressive. These people are magicians. There's also free garage parking, most people come here by foot or 2 wheels. During the holidays this is a great place to stock up. Yes, greenery and flowers are nice - but for me it's the seasonal desserts from around the world, like stollen and lebkuchen. It almost feels like shopping in Germany, which is fitting given that this California-founded chain is now owned by Aldi. Efficient, well-curated, and perfectly suited to campus life. read more

TJ's is nuts bro I really don't get how every location is always as crowded as like their grand opening. Like every single day every one I go to. By college too so yeah don't come here with 20min left on your parking that's for sure. No one has figured out yet somehow it's neither cheap nor good. Some of their products are low key racist tbh lol, Trader Cho's etc. People make no sense to me. I think the only reason they don't have self checkout is cuz they're legally classified as a convenience store. That's why they always have to bunk up with shopping centers or their parking lot will fit nobody. read more

I really like this Trader Joe's location! Firstly, I like how this Trader Joe's is located in USC village since there's a parking structure underneath that gives 2 hours of free parking. Even if it gets crowded, it's pretty easy to park there and there's plenty of spots. The grocery itself is also great. There's lots of variety at cheaper prices. I love how they keep things fresh and that you can try unique items at low prices. They also give out samples sometimes which is nice, so you can try new food items. The staff is also nice and efficient, even if the line to checkout is long, they keep the line moving and it doesn't feel stressful at all. Not all Trader Joe's stores are created equal as certain locations do not have items I am looking for, but this location has a pretty complete selection. Now about the underground parking garage ... [Parking]: I was surprised to learn that the underground parking garage is officially a ticketless parking facility and I had a mini panic as it was my 1st ticketless parking experience. What does that mean? Drivers no longer need a physical ticket at entry/exit from the parking lots. Drivers simply press a button upon entering the garage and vehicle license plate will be read at entry. Visitor will be prompted to validate and pay based on this license plate at the parking payment terminals. No need to care about the parking payment terminals if visitor is staying within first 2 free hours. Please remember to note down license plate before leaving vehicle as visitor will need it to validate & pay for parking after exceeding the first 2 hours. Validation QR (Quick Response) & numerical codes will be on display at various stores and locations around USC Village. If visitor needs to pay for additional time, pay at the parking payment terminals before returning to vehicle. The parking payment terminals are by the elevators on Level 1 Parking. First 2 hours free and every additional 30 minutes = $5 with $30 daily max. Slightly confusing parking instruction for the 1st time visitor, but the ticketless system is certainly convenient and seamless once return visitors get used to it. Sometimes visiting this Trader Joe's is another excuse to check out the USC Village & the main USC campus just across the street for free (as long as the visit is within the free 2-hour limit). I love coming to this Trader Joe's. The staff here is very welcoming, have assisted my family and I whenever a product went bad faster than it should no questions asked. We have even accidentally left one of our grocery bags full of groceries on accident and realized it the next day and the manager there made it easy for us to get all of our items again. The only thing is this Trader Joe's does get full after 10am and a lot of things fly off the shelves, so if you go try going early. This Trader Joe's is always clean and organized. read more

everyone knows how overstimulating and busy trader joe's can be, but just as any other experience, you usually only remember the ending. i will remember this trader joe's forever fondly because it ended fantastically thanks to Alexander the cashier we ended up with. he was one of the most friendliest workers i've ever met, and that's saying a lot for a trader joe's employee! he took incredible care of our groceries, put in all the cold items into one bag, and let us know which had the eggs. this was probably the most pleasant experience i've had at a grocery store, and i hope trader joe's keeps this guy forever because he was amazing. read more

Now why wasn't this a thing when I was attending school here?! This is a very convenient Trader Joe's location that is right in the recently opened USC Village. Like all Trader Joe's, they have a great selection without putting you through buyer's fatigue since nearly every type of item only has one option to choose from, and at an affordable rate. My favorite part of TJ's is always their attention to folx with dietary preferences such as having plenty of amazing options that are vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, etc. Don't skip out on these items even if you personally choose to consume anything freely. There are some hidden gems here and it's great to peruse and shop at this location. Come early in the morning if you can as the number of students frequenting this spot can be a lot. read more

HANDICAP / PEOPLE WITH MOBILITY ISSUES they still have ECVs available for use but you have to ask the workers for it. That being said this is still my favorite Trader Joe's location! The Handicap parking is located right next to the elevators and the entrance to the store is several feet from that on the ground level. The workers are still friendly and very helpful especially when it comes to answering questions about their products. And don't forget if you need an extra suitcase to take everything back home their is a Target right next door. read more

I come to Trader Joe's often. They do have a great variety of different foods and the staff seems to pretty helpful overall. I wish there were more soy free vegan options to choose from but they do have a variety of different vegan items. This location can get crowded because it is on USC campus. There's also a target and other shops in this same location. Cons: It seems like every time you try to turn into the parking garage someone is at a standstill in their vehicle blocking the traffic and causing a pile up. Today, a car sat there waiting for someone to come to the car and didn't even care that the other cars were trying to turn in. There needs to be a sign at the parking garage entrance (near the side walk) stating no stopping. Hopefully the stores can come together and stop this from happening. It's very annoying being stuck under a red light trying to enter the parking garage just because someone else is inconsiderate. read more

They updated their line queues for customers when they are ready to check out. They blocked off the line queue with shopping shelves to keep the line less chaotic and unorganized which they should've done from day one. Selection wise this place is pretty good about having more international items due to it being inside the SC campus. Wished they were quicker about restocking tho. I absolutely love love this Trader Joe's. They first of all it's always busy which is a good thing, they have a lot of different products that just might of came out. I love shopping for my fruits and veggies from here because the prices are great and it's always looking fresh. I love how the employees are very helpful and nice, I'm talking about the whole crew they're always willing to be helpful finding whatever you may be looking for. This location is always stocked up full of products which I really appreciate. The store is not too large of a store nor not to small, even when there is a long line the line goes by fast because there is always someone on each cash register and that's really nice as the line keeps moving. read more

Located inside the USC Village, you might expect this Trader Joe's to be smaller or have its own obnoxious quirks as it's technically on a college campus. The good news is it is the same as a regular Trader Joe's! The size, store layout, and number of products appears to be the same as the usual TJ's. Also: --Yes, they do food samples here --Yes, there is the full wine and beer selection --Yes, you can get florals here --Yes, they are good at keeping things in stock even though you would think the college students would clean it out --Yes, the prices are the same as other LA Trader Joe's --Yes, it is the same TJ's experience you know --Yes, there is parking, and it's actually better than regular Trader Joe's stores. Why? The parking structure underneath has two levels (enter off of Hoover and 32nd). You get an hour of validated free parking. read more

My favorite Trader Joe's location in LA! Every time I've stopped by here, I have had a great experience. The carts are all sanitized and they do a good job of controlling the amount of people in the store. Even on the weekends, they do a good job of keeping everything stocked. I like all Trader Joe's locations, the employees are super friendly and helpful. There is a parking lot and I'll check out the validate parking so it's free. It's also in a great location, there's lots to do and see in the USC village. There's even a Target with a CVS pharmacy right next-door, making it really easy to run all your errands. read more

Every time I come here I feel like I have no complaints about anything whatsoever. Everything is very well priced and organized. The avocados, salad, and anything green that I've gotten here has always been fresh. Best of all, the wine here is a lot cheaper than any liquor store/ grocery market around the area. In the picture below, my girlfriend and I were able to get most of our ingredients for our charcuterie from here. We spent at most $30 for more than half the things here. For some good avocado toast, our bill always ends up being under $20 and it usually feeds us for a couple days. (Including salmon) I've been coming here since I was a kid but I just felt the need to write this review to show people that Trader Joes has kept to it's low and affordable prices despite this recession. read more

Trader Joe's is one of my favs and since I reside in West Adams I go to the USC store frequently. As much as I love the store, the cashiers or those who do the bagging get a solid "F." I don't know if they have a training program or I am simply biased from my experience from years ago when I worked in the grocery industry at Ralphs. Back in those days believe it or not there was specific training BEFORE a cashier/box boy could touch a bag!!!! Trader Joe's staff are very professional and courteous. Perhaps they are simply not aware of the efficiency in bagging???? But, when you think about it, bagging is a very logical process........stand bottles up, don't put soft items on the bottom, don't place items with liquid on the side, etc., etc. It's almost laughable because bags are designed a certain way for a reason???? Anyway, this probably isn't a big deal to some and who knows maybe their bagging system is tops in the industry?????? I'm just offering my critique because it seems odd to pack wine with the bottle laying down or packing ice cream on the side. Enough of my rant as the bagging issue will not stop me from spending money at TJ's. read more

I've never, ever seen a Trader Joe's line wrap around soooo many times inside a store before until I came to this location! My goodness. I get it - college kids love TJ's, but wow.. that was a whole other experience! If you come in for 1 or 2 items, I'm not sure if it's worth waiting in that line if you come during a busy time. Actually, I don't even know if I've ever seen a time when there was no line here, but I'm sure it happens.. (?) However, it is such an efficient line and it moves fairly quickly. If you forget an item and remember while you're in line.. it might be hard to get back in line because the line grows exponentially within a matter of minutes! Parking: They do validation for the underground parking at the Village, but I can't remember what the minimum purchase was. (I'm thinking $20, but don't quote me on that one!) read more
