I purchased a box of 4 for $14.00. The price is not bad for the size of the cupcakes. Keep in mind the name of the place... Smallcakes= small cakes! The red velvet was my favorite. So soft and moist! Tasted spectacular! My parents don't care for crazy flavors so I got them the wedding cake cupcakes which were basically vanilla. They both enjoyed them. I love sweets! I love chocolate! I love icing! I love desserts! Smallcakes is all kinds of awesome. With the fixation I have for all things fattening, I can't believe I didn't know about this place. Truth is, I had no business over here because I'm cutting back, but that's the story of my life. I popped in and they were about 45 minutes from closing, but the staff didn't show any signs of it. I hate going to places and they make you feel like you have rush because their closing time is nearing. Smallcakes wasn't like that at all. The staffer there told me a little about the place because I asked. I also asked what were the favorites amongst customers. She told me it varies. The favorites likely vary because this place gives you different flavors everyday. The name made sense as soon as I laid eyes on the cupcakes; they're like small cakes. I decided to go with the Snickercake and Wedding Cake flavors. I loved the Wedding Cake because it's classic and great. The Snickercake was delicious. The icing was chocolate with bits of snicker and caramel. The inside was really moist and both made me wish I'd purchased a dozen. I got both to-go although you can dine in. The space has a seating area with about 4 tables. The setup is great because you can look at all the cupcakes on display. They are on tiers behind glass.. The menu is also very large, but you won't need it. After you lay your eyes on the cupcakes, you'll just pick the one or five that look the most mouthwatering. They also have a bench outside so you can eat your cupcake(s) and enjoy the lovely weather. The cupcakes are $3.00 each, which most would think of as pricey, but I don't mind because I'm a dessert enthusiast. Overall, I love this place. Very bad customer service. I called to order a cake and one of the "store" managers told me to text her a picture so I did but never heard anything back, the next day I call and apparently her sister is the other baker, explain to her the situation and did even offer to see the picture or take the order. It seemed more that she was on a rush, very rude. I wish Delightful Bites (a way better cupcake bakery) was open these days, that the only reason why I went to Smallcakes they took very good care of my previous order with manners. I'm a fan but let me say I've not ever had a bad cupcake anywhere. Personally, I think that cupcakes are overrated. I've never been a huge fan of a lot of icing and that's pretty much what the majority of the cupcakes are - flavored icing. I'm more impressed by flavored cake. There are very few bakers that get creative with the cake itself. For example, if I purchase a peanut butter cupcake, I'd like to actually have a peanut butter cake instead of a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter icing. I usually shoot for the lemon or strawberry for that reason. I usually end up throwing majority of the icing away. Having said all that. There were slim pickings but I did go 2 hrs prior to closing. I thought the cupcakes were fresh and moist. There was nothing original about the flavors but they were good. The salesperson was rather dry and not very personable. There are times it really counts for me to have a great salesperson and times when I find dry tolerable. The only other gripe I have is that I paid $20 for 6 cupcakes. I think that's pricey but then I'm no cupcake connoisseur. I just like what I like. Will I be returning? I can't say. If I happen to be in the area and I have a sweet tooth, maybe I'll grab one but otherwise I'll probably pass. I'm giving them 4 starts because the cupcakes were good and are a 4 for freshness and taste alone. I don't want to take a star away just because I'm not a cupcake fanatic. read more

After trying out Georgetown cupcakes in DC and getting disappointed, I was skeptical about another cupcake shop especially in Augusta. Now I'm more disappointed in myself for not taking cupcakes seriously. Eating a couple of these cupcakes made me a believer. I can see the need for these shops. I went inside half an hour before closing and ordered the blueberry and the peanut butter cakes. Each one had a great balance of sweetness of the frosting and the moist fluffy cake. Very surprised and happy that these were so great even when it's so close to closing. As I walked out, people were still streaming in. One thing I never expected to find in Augusta, a top ranking nationally featured cupcakery. I'll start discussing the facility then the delightful eats. The facility was immaculately clean, the dark wood flooring in contrast with the varying hues of pink create a delightful mixture of the lighthearted and professional. The staff was kind and enthusiastic when it came to featuring popular or limited flavors. The cupcakes I had were blueberry crumble and peanut butter cup. The blueberry crumble had a delectable sweetness, consistently soft texture through, and frosting that was not overwhelming in size or sweetness (always a plus). The peanut butter cup-cake had a rich chocolate cake that was buoyant (not too dense as chocolate cakes can be). I was particularly taken but the creaminess of the peanut butter and pb cup topping that accented the flavors. The flavors in the second were less sweet than the blueberry but in the best way possible (I've been to too many excessively sweet cupcakeries. Oh my gosh!!!! I LOVE this cupcake bakery. My honey and I were driving around to find the Evans towns market, and I happen to see the cute storefront. I was craving something sweet, and when we walked up and saw the huge food network sticker, I knew we were in for a treat!!! My eyes widened when I saw pecan pie. I automatically ordered one and a lemon for my sweetie. It was placed in a cute box and we walked back to the car. I just could not wait to get home. When walking into a bakery, I would think it would have a sweet fresh smell. This place smelled like old mop water. I decided to order anyway and was not pleased with the cupcakes at all. The frosting tastes store bought. I have visited the smallcakes in North Augusta and they were awesome. I think that's where I would stick to the next time. Small cupcakes is such a great little eatery. The cashiers there are always kind and help you immediately. I've never had to wait to long while I was there either. They have a ton of unique flavored the only downside is that they often sell out really fast on certain recipes, so you should try and get there early, they also have a military discount, but their not expensive anyway. read more

There are the perfect amount of flavors to choose from, although I decided to get the pink vanilla cupcake, and my boyfriend got the lemon cupcake. At first I felt that these would be pretty ordinary, but I was delighted by how moist the cupcake is. I typically test cupcakes but how moist they remain after they've been in the fridge for a little, and these cupcakes didn't dry, thank goodness! The frosting is a little excessive in amount, but absolutely yummy for those with a sweet tooth. I can't say that the cupcakes here are the absolute worst that I've ever had, but they come pretty close. We decided to try out this Cupcakery after reading all the reviews, which I can only guess are written by people who have never had amazing cupcakes from bakeries like Baked and Wired in Georgetown or Casey's cupcakes in LA, so they really haven't ever had a real cupcake before if the cupcakes here impressed them. I had the lemon cupcake which tasted NOTHING like lemon, it was just lard and sugar. Vomit. My kids tried the birthday cupcakes and they ended up throwing them both away after taking a bite.
