Just got back from the most fabulous birthday girls get away in Key West! We contacted Jennifer to provision our house and to cater a dinner and brunch for the nine of us. We were warmly welcomed with beautiful flowers and the most delicious snacks of conch ceviche, cheese and fruit plate, chilled shrimp and wraps, definitely something for everyone. Our dinner absolutely amazing, everyone devoured the chilled soup with beets, the grilled endive salad, and the snapper with clams in broth entree was so yummy I couldn't stop eating and had to have my dessert of grilled apricots the next day. Brunch was also perfect, bloody mary bar with shrimp and crab claws, quinoa bowls w/ poached egg and pancetta bits, cinnamon french toast with maple syrup from her family's trees in Vermont, so many goodies to try!! Catering for nine woman isn't easy and all I can say is Jennifer hit a home run, we all loved everything. She was great to work with prior to our arrival and her prices were extremely reasonable. My wife Cheryl and I were married in a gorgeous ceremony on the ocean in Key West, Florida this past September. The service and atmosphere was second only to the unrivaled and undisputed premier catering service of the Florida Keys, Small Chef at Large catering company, headed by the extremely talented Jennifer Cornell. Ms. Cornell's presentation and selection were the best both Cheryl and I have yet to experience. The price was reasonable, the staff made you feel like family and i could continue forever about the exquisite cuisine served by the Small Chef at Large. In our opinion, there is no other option for catering service in the Florida Keys but Small Chef at Large. On a 1-10, scale, we proudly admit that this was beyond 10 and on a level that simply couldn't be duplicated by another caterer in the area. We recommend Jennifer for any and all catering needs of those in this area as well as those soon to be newlyweds who haven't made that final decision on a caterer. Disappointment is not in Jennifer Cornell's vocabulary. read more

We used Small Chef at Large catering for our wedding reception this past Saturday night. I cannot say enough positive things about the level of service we received. From my initial inquiry on the website to the very last minute of them being at the venue they provided us "world class service". The Owner Jennifer Cornell, was the first to reach out to me after my inquiry and contacted me with 1 business day. She completely understood our vision of the event and worked diligently to accomplish everything we imagined! Jennifer was organized, communicative, and detailed with each step. That special day - the event staff members, Kate and Lola were outstanding! Words cannot describe the level of service and care we received! We did a Bistro cocktail style so our menu, so we enjoyed 8 appetizer style foods that were delicious down to the last bite! I have been home now for about a week and a half from an amazing girls trip to Key West. We asked Jennifer to come in and help us with a couple of meals and snacks while we were there for a week. Jennifer went above and beyond. When we arrived at the house, there were fresh snacks waiting for us, including conch ceviche, shrimp, hummus, crackers, cheese, wraps, etc. The list goes one. Much more than just "snacks", and let's not forget, the wine was chilled, ready to drink. Flowers throughout the house welcoming us. Jennifer made us brunch one morning and dinner another evening and I can honestly say there was not one dish that was put out that I didn't care for. ALL of it was to die for. Jennifer also did a really great job of cleaning up and allowing us time to sit back, relax and enjoy our time with our family and friends. We did not have to worry about anything. I recently used Small Chef at Large for a dinner party of six. I spoke with Jennifer several times and we came up with the perfect menu. Hors d'oeuvres, salad, Dinner followed by amazing desserts in the garden.Probably one of the best meals I have ever had. I loved how intimate the whole evening was. She brought all the food and prepared it in our kitchen.Jennifer also brought an assistant named E that was attentive and very friendly. I was into the idea of enjoying our home without having to go out. In fact the kitchen was cleaner when they left then upon arrival. Class act through and through!! Can't wait to use Small Chef at Large again. In fact it was so fabulous I plan on hosting another dinner party just so I could use Small Chef at Large again. read more

Our group had an excellent experience with Chef Jennifer. We asked her to do some pre-arrival grocery shopping and food preparation, and everything was exactly what we hoped for. It was great to arrive at the house to delicious platters of fresh food. Jennifer also offered to continue shopping for us as needed throughout our visit; she could not have been more helpful. We also asked Jennifer to prepare some meals for us and they were outstanding. We had specific dietary requests which she accommodated with no problem. The food was plentiful, delicious and beautifully presented. We were a very casual group and she got our vibe right away. Her pricing was also very reasonable. The setting alone was amazing as the ceremony was held on our friend's luxury yacht in the Key West Bight. Jennifer and Small Chef at Large catered my wedding in october. it was exactly what I was hoping for and then some. Jennifer was very easy to communicate with and her staff was attentive and very helpful. I highly recommend their service. The prime rib (my favorite ) was to die for,the crabmeat artichoke with hollandaise sauce was out of this world and last but not least so was the baked Alaska !!!!! Every person including my husband raved about how good the food was. Just celebrated the wedding of our daughter, in Key West. Jennifer and her staff did the catering. They were fabulous!! Food was wonderful, staff was charming, and the decorations were lovely and appropriate. She and her staff were a joy to work with and I would highly recommend her to anyone who is throwing a big event in the city of the sun. We love Key West and we love Small Chef At Large Catering. I have lived in Key West for many years and have watched this young lady work her magic throughout the years. Ms. Cornell and her team always put on a super dinner party with lots of fresh seafood items and innovative delicious ways to prepare them. She is super friendly, very easy to deal with, and she,s pretty cute to boot. I love her Shrimp & Grits appetizer served in a clam shell. Also the bruschetta with Brie and strawberry rhubarb compote is to die for. She is always willing to design new menus for my wife and I depending upon what we are interested in for that party. So I was a little apprehensive about going w/Small Chef after reading the reviews (they're old...) but a local suggested them. I needed a caterer for a small, very important dinner I needed to host. I couldn't have been happier! They were prompt and professional. The prices were fair, considering what we had! Key West Lobster Thermidor was honestly, beautiful! Perfectly cooked and presented. The staff was friendly and clean (thank goodness....). I have never considered a caterer for an important evening, but Jennifer and her staff freed me up to take care of business! read more

I am a bit surprised at the other reviews. I will take it that they are listening to their customer's feedback and improving on their service. My experience this past Sept 2015 was nothing short of a very pleasurable experience. We hired them to cater a 50th birthday party and everything was as expected. The steaks were cooked to perfection.. the grouper was out of this world.. and the Key Lime pie was delicious. Jennifer Cornell is a wonderful chef with amazing food. She has creative platter ideas and beautiful spreads. Very easy and fun to work with!
