I've been wanting to check this Smack Shack location out for a while now. Finally got the chance to catch a happy hour with some friends. The happy hour menu had some pretty solid choices. I like that this location does hh in the entire restaurant vs the Northloop one only does it in the tiny bar area. I got a hurricane for my drink. We shared chips and guac which was actually pretty good. I got the chicken sliders and a side of fries. which were interesting. They were sweet and savory. The fries were seasoned well. Overall I like the food and would definitely come back. Our server was attentive and nice. We were able to grab food fairly quick and make it to our next stop in time. I ordered delivery service of the linguine and clams and had it delivered to my hotel in Bloomington. Delivery was reasonably fast, as the restaurant wasn't far so the food arrived within about 35 minutes. The temperature was moderate, so just heated it up but the dish itself was fantastic; moderate amounts of clam meat and thankfully half shell clams were included. They had the clam broth on the side in a separate container which I appreciated. This allowed for you to add as much broth as you wanted to your meal. I highly recommend and am looking forward to ordering this again when I'm back in town. read more

We've eaten at Smack Shack in Minneapolis several times, and I'd give it five stars every time. This led me to expect a similarly positive experience at other Smack Shacks, and that's where things went off the rails a bit. Don't get me wrong: the lobster roll is just as terrific as the one downtown! But the service was a disappointment, and the quality of prep work leaves something to be desired. We watched two other tables, seated after we were, get waited on and receive their food before we could finally flag our waiter down to place our order. The crab cakes on the Niçoise salad were perfectly sized and delicious, but the potatoes and beans had not been adequately trimmed. Note well: if your order contains olives, some of them may have pits. I don't blame the kitchen for this -- it's always a risk with olives. There's a hefty amount of industrial plastic covering part of the kitchen. This was evident on the way to the restrooms. So perhaps they're experiencing growing pains, or equipment replacement, plus Operation Metro Surge has not been kind to the hospitality industry! I'm hopeful that things could improve. In the meanwhile, though, we're sticking with the original when we want that perfect lobster roll. read more

We had such a good experience here. London, our waitress was sooo friendly and attentive and gave us great recommendations! We tried a few appetizers off the happy hour menu, and our favorite the tuna mahi poke wrap and the shrimp avocado toast. Decided to come during lunch and the ambiance was pretty tame and mellow. The service was fairly decent as we never ran out of water. So A+. I opted for a Stuffed Salmon with Lobster and Shrimp. It sat on a bed of mushroom risotto with butternut squash. Every single bit of this meal was a match made in heaven. Absolutely delicious. The gin and tonic was nice and refreshing as well. We stopped in for lunch on a Friday. The place was busy but not slammed. We were in a booth in the main dining room, which had a high ceiling and rope decorations along a ocean-faring theme. Service was initially quite slow--it took a while to get our drinks and appetizer--but after that, everything was perfectly paced, with our server checking often to see if we liked everything or were in need of more drinks. Smack Shack has a pretty big drink menu. My husband had a beer from on on tap, and I was happy that they had local cider. We had to try the lobster poutine as an appetizer. I wasn't sure what to expect, as the very concept sounds like it may be sacrilegious to my Canadian friends, but wow, this dish was GOOD. Flavor-packed without being hot-spicy. Loads of quality fries topped with sauce, cheese, and a nice helping of tender lobster. Honestly, this place would be worth the visit just for this extraordinary plate. My husband went with traditional fish and chips and really enjoyed them. The breading was quite crisp and thick. I chose the crab cake niçoise salad. The crab cakes were fantastic. As with the poutine, lots of flavorful spice without heat. The combo of Bibb lettuce, green beans, potatoes, and boiled egg was so classic, and so very good. It was nice to eat something light and healthy after the indulgent appetizer! We were both quite full at that point so we didn't have a dessert, but the options sounded nice. If you are craving a crab boil or lobster roll, this is the place for you! We started with the coconut curry muscles, complete with fantastic taste and garlic naan. Super crave-able. On to the crab boil -- a bit of a snafu because they were out of the variety we asked for, but they made it right for us. Super fresh and tasty with all the sides. The perfect mix of upscale and casual, Smack Shack is a really great spot for a date or work outing, or for any seafood enthusiast! Their menu has a large variety of items, almost all featuring seafood so this is a hard spot to find something to eat as a vegetarian. Our waitress was extremely kind and attentive. I am glad I gave this place another try and came out for happy hour. The happy hour menu has a nice selection of drinks and apps. I really liked the mules frites (mussels and fries) but I am glad I got regular fries, without their Cajun seasoning, because I remember I really didn't like that specific seasoning. My first response pulling up here was wow there's another smack shack and it's closer to me? Heck yeah Quality service, great fish, and a nice vibe to it. Kind of giving the inside of Joe's Crabshack iykyk I got the mussels with is an appetizer technically but honestly was enough for just me. We got some oysters (South Bay Blonde MA & Beau Soleil NB) which they always have a decent selection depending on what texture and briny liquor you like. Got the Connecticut Lobster Roll (it's warm) had a great amount of lobster meat and flavor with the butter, lemon, and quality bread. The Cajun corn with hot Cheetos was soo good making a great meal. Then I got the Key Lime ‍ pie to go so I had a treat later. It was fresh, great flaky crust that held together nicely. And don't sleep on their Brunch Menu. Pay yourself a visit asap! We started with the large shrimp appetizer and it was everything they promised. I then chose one of the weekly specials- the lobster banh mi and it was superb. Messy, delicious and perfect. It comes with fries but I upgraded to Brussel Sprouts and they were outstanding. It can be difficult to find a Grenache on wine menus but Smack Shack has a fantastic one. Service was good. I spotted this place on the way to a doctor appointment and said that's where we're having dinner, sight unseen. Let's say you'll never go to Red Lobster again. If I were in the working world this would be my HH place. The menu is so tempting , just make up your mind to make several visits and show some restraint. So we shared chowder and bisque. Both excellent and I like the bisque better. It had a single good size piece of lobster in it. I'll get it every time. We shared some little crab cake sliders. I was in the mood for fried fish so I got the sconnie perch and I love the tarter sauce. I could only eat half. Pretty good matchstick fries. Basil got the cioppino without mussels and they threw in some extra clams instead. They are tiny though. The stew itself is spicy. We both got fresh brewed iced tea that was the perfect strength. So Londan was our amazing server, just a doll bending over backwards for us. There were a few parties at 3:30. I like how we could get HH items and not play the stupid game of having to sit in the bar to get them. Now it's gonna be damn hard for us to go anywhere else when we hit Edina. read more

Being an oyster maniac, I ordered half a dozen of their East coast oysters. These little buggers were succulent and delicious with a little cocktail sauce and horseradish on top. For my entree I ordered the Fried Shrimp Po' Boy. This comes in a hot dog bun and is filled to the absolute brim with fried shrimp tossed in hot sauce. To top it off, there is a mix of cucumber, tomato, onion and greens. This sandwich packs a little bit of a punch and is all around a great meal to have year round. A pleasant place that is like an upgraded Chili's but nicer. Was easy to get into and service was quick and efficient. The place is open and airy and I wish I had sat outside. TVs around the bar but not blasting game results. I had the calamari and I was a little disappointed because it had been fried hard. You don't really taste calamari as much as you do the coating on the calamari. I had a salmon dish and it was good but not particularly remarkable. I've had way better back home in Houston. I mean not that I'm looking for a reason to give this establishment less than 5 stars but if I were it's just not there. I've been to all three locations, Minneapolis, Roseville, and today Bloomington. We rode the Motorcycle since it was 65°+ outside. Parking wasn't an issue, and we were sat right away, and the service came by within a few minutes of us being sat. The menu was very easy to understand and not too cluttered. They had lots of appetizers but nothing that we were in the mood for. So when it was time to order our meals my other half ordered the Nashville Hot lobster sandwich, and I ordered the stuffed Salmon. The food came out piping hot, it was delicious and it was perfectly seasoned. I like how the food was plated, and I didn't have to add anything to my food it came out perfect. The decor in this restaurant was very nice. They also had a live performance that was going to start at 7 p.m. Lots of exciting things going on here besides great food and service, we will definitely return to try some more good eats!! read more
