    cookie butter latte
    Emily M.

I tried the cookie butter latte that was part of their Valentine's day menu and it was absolutely delicious. The vibe of the shop was so cute and there was plenty of seating. The baristas were very nice and delivered my latte to my table. The parking lot is fairly small but I was able to find parking however it was a monday at noon so I can imagine that at the busy times it can get a little hectic. 1000% will be returning.

This location is one of the newer locations of the Slowpokes. I was able to come here on a Saturday morning. I haven't been to other locations, but I really enjoyed this one! The workers were really nice, and it was very spacious inside. I got an iced chai tea latte with oat milk and the berry parfait, and both were good. The parking lot was pretty small, which wasn't issue, but I can see parking being a problem once they get a bit busier. The only con is that you only get the wifi for a two-hour window from your last purchase. It was pretty slow regardless, so I ended up just using my hotspot. Other than that, it's a nice little cafe!

Awesome new Slowpokes that has recently opened in the East End. I come into my companies' office located in EaDo every once in a while and was delighted to learn that Slowpokes was now in the area. The drinks here were amazing, I opted for the caramel apple chai and my friend the matchanana (both drinks from their current 'specials' selection). This was one of the better chai's i've tried in recent memory, I absolutely loved it. My friend seemed to enjoy their drink as well. The barista was super kind and patient with us as well since we took a minute to decide what we wanted. This place is huge. I've been to a different slowpokes location near the energy corridor and this place has them beat for space and outlets. Extremely well thought out for people who want to come in to study a bit or for a little pick-me-up chat. The only nitpick I have about slowpokes in particular is their wifi is not open to the public, you do have to buy something in order to get a receipt to log onto their network. Even then, though, you're limited to two hours before you will have to buy another item to extend your connection. Not the best choice for those who just wanna study/work outside their homes/offices. Otherwise, though, this place was awesome.

After living in Houston for several years, I have never had the chance to visit any of the now seven Slowpokes locations until today. This East Downtown location, situated on the corner of Canal and N Sampson streets in a converted gas station just opened today, and what a great addition to the neighborhood. They offer a full menu of coffee, tea, wine and beer in addition to breakfast, lunch and dinner options. The inside is comfortable and open, perfect to spend a couple of hours doing work or stopping by for a bite to eat with friends or family. As a converted gas station, they have tastefully converted the outside service area to a large outdoor seating area. There's several parking spots onsite in addition to street parking on N Sampson street. At least two different Metro stops are also just a block away making it accessible to all regardless of your transportation status. When I arrived the barista was very welcoming and helped me select a beverage based on my preferences - strong caffeine, dairy free, and less sweet. I ended up going with the "with love" latte which is one of their specialty lattes with honey and cinnamon. Regardless of your beverage selection, they are able to customize sweetness to your liking. While they do have a number of milk alternatives including oat, almond, and coconut (no pistachio yet), I was slightly disappointed to see that these are an additional $1 charge. Call me stingy but this always bothers me. Overall, the drink was tasty! I'm excited to see Slowpokes join the neighborhood and will certainly be back to try their food and enjoy the patio!

This new Slowpokes is lovely! And parking was a breeze. I found a spot up front on a Friday afternoon. I imagine that won't last once word gets out about the new location. About half the folks inside were working and the other half were enjoying coffee with their friends. Inside was very spacious. The flatbread I ordered arrived quickly and was divine. Service at the counter was not friendly but the new staff may have been nervous? My out of town friend commented that she loved it except it could have been friendlier.

Very spacious! Great for people to hang out or get some work done. The food comes out so fast and is super tasty! The drinks are yummy and they currently have a fall special menu with pumpkin flavors I would only say that the working isn't the best when it's all taken. But they have gravel parking across the street along with street parking

Yeah there's now a location in East Downtown! Discovered this place 10 years ago at the Garden Oaks first location. Been a ride or die since the start. What can I say? They had me at the sloth :) It's beyond amazing! Cool vibes, mystic beats, great folks work here and awesome folks hang out. And the food... the pretzel and the dipping sauces, oh my! Can't recommend this place enough. It's one of my favorites!!! So glad to see all the new locations that keep popping up!

I've been to Slowpokes a couple months ago at a different location, but decided to pop into this one to get some work done, and I was pleasantly surprised by their amble seating and outlets! There are so many tables and even individual ones with outlets right underneath. However, the parking is veryyy limited. There a small lot in front with maybe 4 spots and a side lot with maybe 6 spots. It sucks because there's so much seating but bad parking, but ig that's basically downtown summed up. I ordered the Purple Rain which is their ube and vanilla latte, and I'd honestly give it a 6/10. Presentation was great and it's a pretty latte, but I couldn't really taste any of the espresso notes or flavor through the ube or vanilla, and honestly my latte just tasted pretty milky. But the HTX Club Wrap was so yum, i'd give it an 8/10. Whatever sauce goes in there was so good- perfect amount of drench and a great crunch. I will be back

My partner wanted to grab lunch here so we tried for the first time this place. We got a simple sandwich and elote which the staff said it should take 15-20 mins. We waited and waited it past 40+ mins and I went to ask. - First was that they lost our order number and they couldn't find it. - Second the manager began to say our order was taken by someone else and then that my partner grabbed it. Switching her words back and forth and not believing what we had said. I asked how did we grab our stuff if I still have the device to notify when our food is ready. - Third she completely stopped talking to us and went to go help at other customers. I told her we want our money back and she said, "well I'm not going to refund for the drinks you had". Ma'am, that's not how you run a business. Just admit you messed up and take ownership of your mistakes to help a customer out. - Fourth she mentioned that other tickets have been lost today and other foods have been stolen before. This just shows how disorganized this placed is. We were able to ask for our money back but it was a battle about it. I was disappointed because we wanted to support your business but at this service? Heck no! Do not come here. And from reading other reviews now we did not miss on the food.

Now, I thought I could just stop by and grab my order in about five minutes... that was not the case. It took well over 30 minutes. However, I do want to recognize the customer service, especially the gentleman in the red shirt who was running the cash wrap. He was very attentive and made sure orders were moving and getting out to customers. When I followed up on my order (about 20+ minutes in), he let me know there were about 9-10 subs ahead of mine due to a lot of online orders. Once I got my food, I thanked him and let him know next time I'll definitely be ordering online. If you're planning to grab lunch and not dine in, I highly recommend ordering ahead to save time. Now, the food... the sub was 10/10 amazing. I got the Jamaican Red Buffalo Chicken. Highly recommend. The only thing I want to point out is there was a guy working with bell peppers who came to the front line and started handling food for customers. He had on gloves and headphones, but when a customer asked him a question, he used his gloved hand to move his headphones, then went right back to handling food without changing gloves. Other than that, I'll definitely be back!!!!

However, I haven't found myself wanting to come back even though I drive past this area pretty frequently. If I did come back, I'd probably just order the same flavor again because it was that good. The Zeppelin is very filling though and kept me good for 2 meals, I just think nothing else on the menu appealed to me (other than the Spicy Tejano) enough to steer away from my go-to sandwich/bowl places if the craving for that type of food ever came. The staff were super friendly though and parking wasn't terrible. This is the one and only location here and a great stop for all kinds of sandwiches. Their menu includes innovative offerings and iconic flavors, essentially the best of both worlds. If you're craving a classic or simple sandwich, you can get that. However, if you're looking for something special or out of this world, you can also get it. Ike's specializes in sandwiches with their Dutch Crunch bread and Dirty Sauce, both unique in its own way. Whether you're a meat lover, vegetarian, vegan, or on a gluten-free diet, their menu has it all. I personally am not a super fan of the Dutch Crunch bread since I find it a bit too harsh on the palate and somewhat dry, but love the Dirty Sauce (make it extra or on the side). I enjoy subbing the Dutch Crunch with either French or Sourdough. With over 300 unique sandwiches on the menu, there's a sandwich for everyone. My favorites have been the Menage A Trois (halal chicken, honey mustard, BBQ Sauce, real honey, pepper jack, swiss, cheddar), Ike's Reuben (pastrami, mack Sauce, purple slaw, gouda), Joker (all beef meatballs, fried zucchini, Ike's red pesto, ranch), and Grant Pinkerton, a Houston exclusive (Pinkerton Brisket, pastrami, BBQ aioli, provolone). All of my sandwiches have been stuffed and tasty, worth it! However, I find some menu items to be subpar in quality and flavor (chicken strips). The service is typically quick, efficient, and friendly. There are more than a handful of tables inside and some out on the patio. To get from the parking area to the store, you just take the elevator one level down, and then you're right inside. You choose between whole wheat or white pita, and it's filled with scrambled eggs, your choice of fresh or sautéed spinach, and they add potatoes as well. Then they top it with shawarma chicken, tomato, and a delicious sauce. For $8.5 it was worth every bite. Hands down, a five out of five. I also tried their coffee, which was just a standard brew sitting in ice for hours and nothing special. At $2.50, it was fine, but nothing to write home about. The real stars were the cookies.
