A friend had recommended this place in suggestion that it was similar to Raising Cane's. I was utterly disappointed. The service was quick, and the cashier was kind. However, the quality of the food was terrible. I visited with a group of friends after a workout, and we took maybe a bite or two and left. The food was extremely salty and I'm not sure if it's normally supposed to taste like that or if it was salted with a heavy hand. The chicken was extremely dry. The fries were a basket of soggy sadness. The food was also lukewarm, so it was likely sitting for awhile. I guess it would make sense considering we were the only group dining in on a Friday night. I had a huge craving for some fried chicken. Driving down Expressway, I was between Slim and Raising Canes. I hadn't had Slims since college 10 years ago so I figured why not?! Their menu definitely offers more than Canes in the sense that there's different types of chicken besides just fried tenders. They have grilled, chicken wings, and even sauce covered tenders which sets apart from Canes. I ordered the 5 by 5 because I wanted to try out their wings. I had the Slims sauce to accompany my tenders and I tossed my wings in buffalo. Honestly, they were just okay. The flavor was really lacking but the chicken was juicy. I had more hopes for the Slim sauce but it didn't have much flavor. I love Canes sauce and even Braums sauce but this was just lacking. The buffalo sauce on my wings even didn't have much flavor. The drive thru attendant was super nice though and was quick getting our food. The only sad part of my dinner experience was that I felt like I wasn't fulfilled. I would have preferred Canes. We were in the area, stuck in horrible traffic so we decided to pull in and give Slim Chickens a try. We were very glad we did. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was really clean and nice. We got our food quickly. It was piping hot. I actually had to let it cool done so I could eat it. The chicken was extremely tender abs juicy. Lots of fast food chicken is kinda dry. Not this chicken. It was the most tender fast food chicken I have ever had. The fries were seasoned and crispy on the outside while soft on the inside. We also got Texas Toast. Another plus to me. It was lightly seasoned with garlic salt. It was really good. I highly recommend Slim Chickens for a fast yummy meal. The price was good too. The food here is made to order and fresh. The service is what you'd expect with post covid restaurants, it gets by but can take longer as most restaurants remain short staffed. I love their chicken tenders, they are not as heavily breaded as most places and sub fried pickles as my side usually Great dipping sauces, but the cayenne ranch is my favorite. The fries were okay, but everything else had a super weird taste to it. I'm wondering if it had anything to do with putting hot a$$ gravy into these little DART plastic containers that felt like they were more than a little compromised by the heat of the gravy. Can you actually taste BPA?!? Since the food was nasty, I figured I should check the unsweet tea I ordered, which was super cloudy. Nope...not doin' it...straight down the drain. Pretty new location from what I saw, food tasted good (needs some adjustments, breading on chicken was falling off). Service was the primary reason they did not get a higher score. Staff was nice, but they forgot my order and did not get everything right. I had to repeat my order after it was sent to the kitchen and they gave me the wrong sauce when it came out. What happened? In my opinion Slims was the best fast food chicken restaurant you could choose. Slowly but surely, the service started getting sloppy (forgetting your sauces) and then came the corporate decisions that take away all your favorites. They took away the family meal-- then they brought it back, for more money but no substitutions. Then they took away the chips!? The only thing left other than the sauce choices was the chips. Now, it's just not worth the price or the drive. Taking away the chips was like taking away what made them different. Now they are just another chicken place that forgets your sauces and charges you $9 for one chicken meal. read more

Forgettable food. For chicken tenders, Raising Cane's has them beat. The breading is too thin on these, and they are a little small. Though tender, they're also not as juicy as Cane's. At Cane's they would have been thrown in the reject bin (trust me, I know). I did like their signature dipping sauce. Their variety of sauces and sides is a plus here. But with inferior bird, it matters little. Also had fried okra on the side, it was average. My daughter thought it was gross, passed it onto us, and between my husband and myself we couldn't stomach much of it. It went into the trash half eaten. The Texas toast that came with it was a joke. It's just toast, nothing else to it. Drive thru took a long while. Okra came very hot, so I'm guessing that's what took so long. Overall, our meal was just average. I don't like leaving one star reviews but this is necessary. I've been a fan of slim's for years but I've had problems in the past and I just received the last straw today. Sometimes the lettuce in the salads are old (very mushy, not the right color) but I pick around those pieces. I ordered one yesterday (4-29-2020) and was eating the remainder of it today (4-30-2020). I eat a few bites and see something foreign and after closer examination it appears to be a piece of a Ranch bag with black gunk all over it. As if it were in the trash or stepped on on the floor and somehow put into the salad mix? Idk but it's gross and I'm pregnant so I had to throw the whole thing away. The big disappointment was the cleanliness of the establishment. Even though we were the only ones in there, there was no effort from the employees to clean the place. Pieces of chicken, french fries and napkins were all over the floor. The tables had not been wiped and neither the empty cups and straws picked up. Okay, this was excellent and dangerously close to home. We came in here last night. After a long weekend of entertaining at our house, we were too tired to cook on Sunday night, and we had a few quick little errands we needed to run, so we decided to fuel up here. I had the salad with fried chicken, tomatoes, cheddar cheese and onion straws. This is so similar to a salad I've always loved from Belle Isle Brewery, but I think the lettuce in this case was even more fresh and crisp, and the chicken perhaps a smidge tastier. I think I know what I'll be ordering when people want to bring us dinner after the baby comes, lol. When I first saw it, I didn't think I could eat all of it, but somehow I managed. K had the tenders with fried okra instead of fries. He enjoyed his chicken and his dipping sauces, and as a certified okra aficionado, I can tell you this is some good okra. I probably ate about half of it... don't judge me. We loved the decor, with the tall ceilings, rafters, rough hewn wood, a good mix of booths and tables and vintage looking signage. We also felt like they must take pretty good care of their employees because they had some great people working who took pride in their work. Our food came out quickly and was nice and hot. It was very cold inside, and yet still too warm to sit outside, so we kinda froze inside. In a way, I can't call this anything but fast food fried chicken...........but it's a cut above KFC or Church's Fried Chicken. It's very similar to Raisin' Canes chicken in style and quality. But I would rate this place better for a couple of reasons. It seems like they really do cook and season their chicken well. It has a crispness and quality to it. It's not bland like Church's tends to be. And the dipping sauces.........? Well, I thought they were spicier than most so really pretty good. I had the "sweet and sour" which is closer to an "asian zing" if you get my drift. And the spicy barbecue is not like a real hot barbecue sauce........but a zestier, bbq sauce with a touch of heat. Fries were also good, both as to taste as to their portioning. Crisp and fresh tasting for fast food fries. Last time we were here about a week ago. When we got our food the chicken was luke warm, we ate it and just figured it was a fluke as most of the time it was hot. Came this week and told the guy at the register that last time the chicken was cold and to please make sure our chicken was hot this time, food comes out to our table and it's Luke warm again!
