Slim Chicken opened in Lubbock in December 2014. This restaurant is along the same theme as Raisin Canes. They pretty much only do chicken. Chicken tenders, chicken wings etc. They also had chicken and waffles that looked pretty good. Everything was fresh and hot. There is a good selection of sauces and wing flavors. The tenders are good, but are not as good as Raisin Canes. The only real negative is that you walk out of there smelling like you have been frying chicken all day. Give it a try. read more

I had never tried this place & have been looking for new places to try. Last minute decision to go here per my boyfriend. I got the combo with 5 wings & 5 tenders. I liked the tenders & their cayenne ranch is AWESOME. As for the wings they were good when paired with the ranch but by themselves the buffalo sauce was too sweet for me. My boyfriend really enjoyed the tenders as he's a picky eater & likes things non spicy & simple. It was good although it does take a bit in the drive thru. I'm giving this 3 stars for our visit today. The food is great, as always, but this is the second time I've been through the drive thru that something has been wrong. I know we're all human, so I don't usually make a big deal about a wrong order here and there. However, today while we were in the drive thru, it appeared the shift manager (appeared to be college-aged) was training a new person. He handed the food to us, and my boyfriend opened the bag only to put the straws in it until we got home. When he opened the bag, the shift manager immediately said "You can check the food, but it's all there; I've checked it." You could tell by his tone that he wanted us out of the drive thru and on to the next person. So because we felt rushed off, we went home. When we got home, we discovered that we had been shorted food. We had ordered a chicks plate (3 tenders) and a slim's plate (5 tenders). When we opened the boxes, both only had 3 tenders. The box that was supposed to be the slim's plate had both dipping sauces like should come with the order, but only 3 tenders. So the food was not "all there" as the shift manager claime So one, he should have never assumed why my boyfriend was opening the bag. Two, even if we were checking the food, the customer should always be given that courtesy. The kitchen sometimes messes things up, and those at the window checking the food don't always catch it either. I can say this from experience as I used to work at a fast food chain and every now and then something would get past us and out the window. For me, personally, I like to check things at the window so the person working can see that I haven't removed anything and that the order is exactly as it was given to me and doesn't match the receipt/what I ordered. I have tried this place twice with the same results. The staff is friendly, the quantity is impressive for the price. The chicken is delicious and the cajun ranch is awesome. However the grease or something they use to cook with does not agree with me. So if you are sensitive to fried foods I do not recommend this place. This place has become my go-to fried chicken place. I normally get a slims plate and enjoy it. What really set this place over the top is the option to have your tenders tossed in a wing sauce. This adds so many new flavor options and makes the chicken much better and comparable to sit down restaurant quality chicken. You also get a cup you can take home for 25cents extra. We were greeted by a friendly staff & one of the members who took our order, a older gentlemen, was so welcoming and helpful! It's so rare to come across such wonderful customer service, he explained everything to us on the menu, accommodated my kids with balloons and since I ordered them a slims plate (3 tenders French fired and med drink) instead of a kids meal he gave me two plates for them and two small cups for them, so it would be easier! I didn't know which sauce I wanted since I've never tried any and he have me a sample of the slims sauce, and I chose a mango habenero wth my meal, it was all so delicious! My husband ordered chicken and waffles and he loved it too! It's in the shape of the state of Texas! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was cause the chicken tenders are kinda on the smaller side, I usually order a 3 piece from Canes and get super full, and i ordered a 3 piece here and was still left wanting more. My husband and I decided to give this restaurant a try on July 7th. My husband ordered the chicken strip basket with fried pickles on the side and I got the chicken and waffles plate. We left with a big fat "Meh". There's a slim chance that we'll return to Slim Chicken's again. Chicken strip combo isn't half bad, very similar to raising canes in some ways however they have a more diverse menu, their dipping sauce is pretty good and they usually get you in and out pretty soon. The tab was 52 bucks.. which included the chicken an order of fried mushrooms... 6 bucks.. a small slaw 2 bucks... a large mac n cheese.. 6 bucks.. left out of the order completely and an order of celery and carrots.. of which you get 4... 3 inch long pieces of celery and 4 baby carrots out of a bag for 2.29. According to the Mgr this serving size is a company standard. Only being open a couple of weeks might be the issue. The shrooms were really good.. the wings 10 for 10 bucks ordered (hot) are just shy of mediocre at best.The strips 10 for 13 bucks are a little different than normal ...similar to Chick-fil-A breading but deep fried and therefore on the dryer side. I have been going to this location regularly for a few months since they opened the quality as well as consistency have been the main reason for me returning to this location. For the past three times my order had been shorted, on the third time I decided to take action and let the location know that I was unhappy with my service. I called the location first and I believed I was hung up on after asking for a manager. I decided to leave my bad review along with the bad taste in my mouth from poor service using their review service and my receipt code. Not only am I completely satisfied with this location now I am completely impressed. I was called back not even fifteen minutes after my review was placed on their site. The manager explained that the call was disconnected, but apologized and gave me an opportunity to have my meal replaced along with a free desert. The timely manner in which I was contacted, the tone, and just the overall kindness has completely restored my faith in this location.
