The decor is home-y if not a little too industrial for my liking, the employees are top notch, and my food was delivered in a reasonable time frame. Slim Chickens is a 9/10 in that regard. However, the food is nauseating-ly salty. When I said I wanted an order of fried pickles, I didn't mean that I also wanted my tongue to feel like its been brined and fried as well. My blood pressure doesn't even rise this much when I chow down on a mystery-meat burger from the run down McDonald's down the street. Came here on a Saturday night and the inside was dead, but the drive thru seemed to be popular. The food was super fresh out of the fryer which was nice. The chicken strips were a little dry but they had good flavor and crunch. Fries were better than expected too. I got the sriracha garlic sauce which was a good balance of flavor. 1st time visiting slim chickens. Location is in a former Carl's Jr building. Found the ordering counter a little too close to the front door. You would be waiting outside on a busy day to order. Menu is straightforward and simple. You can get tenders, wings, and chicken sandwiches. I opted for the buffalo chicken sandwich. It was very tasty but lacked size. I find sandwiches at the price they are asking alot bigger at other concepts. The dining experience is good, everything is clean and they are on top of bussing tables. The wraps are good, the sandwiches are good, the desserts are good (plus some of them come in a slim chickens jar and I'm a sucker for anything served in a jar that I can keep. ) I would recommend trying the food if you like chicken. My latest trip, I ordered my meal with potato salad. I don't typically care for potato salad, but I like the white potato salad made with the red potatoes; which is what I was previously served every time I went. Now, however, they have yellow potato salad which I do not care for. So that's one less side dish for me to choose from... and I REALLY liked their potato salad. Anyways, they still have good food. We tired out Slim Chickens tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. We've seen a long drive through line for weeks during lunch and decided to give it a try for dinner. We went inside and ordered because we've never eaten here before. The lady at the register and everyone we encountered inside was polite and helpful. 20 different sauces to choose from and 4 different tea options plus lemonade, soft drinks, and shakes. I had the large salad and was very happy with it. The other orders in our family were the classic tenders, substituted mushrooms instead of fries, a crispy chicken meal, and a chicken club meal. Everyone liked their food! We will definitely stop by again when we're in the neighborhood. I want to try one of those desserts in a jar. read more

Wish I could give this place zero stars. We ordered $60 of food to-go, including three Slims Salads with fried chicken. Drove twenty minutes home to find no chicken on the salads. Drove all the way back where the manager remade the salads yet comp'd us nothing. Any competent restaurant manager would comp something, maybe the entire meal. But this lady said "that's not what we do". I asked if making Slims Salads without chicken is what they normally do and she said "that was the gentleman in the back". I ordered the family meals for takeout and once I got home I realized the box with the french fries had room for way more fries it looked like they just tossed a handful in and thought it was okay. This has happened several times same with the mac and cheese. They are super stingy with portions. What should be portions for what I assume is 4-5 really is for 3. With the $30-40+ spent each time, I would expect an appropriate amount of portions for the money I paid. Plus the fries come extra salty and the chicken as well. We live slim chickens, the one by us never opened post Covid so we were happy this one opened in laporte. The 3 is based on the service. My kids love the toast, and the meal was missing the toast, no big deal, my husband went to ask for it and the woman at the counter told the manager "oh this guys bitching about toast." I would not recommend this place and would give it 0 or a negative star if I could. The management seemed lacking in service and discombobulated when busy. My first experience was when I called to place an order over the phone. The employee wasn't trained on how to take orders over the phone and had to get the manager. Once I arrived to pick up the food, they sent me to the to go order area. To my displeasure, they didn't have my order. They got the manager again and she couldn't find it. She was very rude and loud with her employees while I was waiting. Then goes to the register and my order was still on the screen and not sent through. The order was wrong, and I had to tell them to add some things. The manager told the employee to make me a shake fast. She never explained that my order would take a while and made me wait, trying to cover up her mistake. While waiting, the cashier was very nice and offered a dessert for my delay, not management. After all this, I thought to myself, I'll give the food a chance. When I got home, my order was wrong with inferno sauce on all my wife and myself tenders and missing a sauce. My wife hates hot stuff, which did not make her happy. The wings were cold, the chicken strip weren't much warmer and tasted rancid. I did the curbside to avoid the line. Placed my order around 7 10pm and it said order will b ready at 7 30pm. We showed up at 7 31pm and I notified the store of the parking slot I was in. It said order will b out shortly. I kept looking inside the store and saw several bags on the curbside table but no one was even going and checking the bags. Finally around 7 50pm she finally came out to give us the order which was one of the bags that was sitting there for at least 20 mins One she had a sorry attitude and two the order was not complete so I went in to receive the rest of my order. I told the young lady I was missing a dessert that was ordered and she looked at me confused and then said what is the problem and I said again the order is not complete and I was missing a dessert. She didn't say anything at all and just got the dessert and said here. I said thank you and finally left. TBH the food was not that good and the customer service was even worse.
