FINALLY made it to this friendly joint yesterday with a friend. YES, Slim Chickens is what its all about. From the time we walked in the door to leaving EVERYONE was super friendly! CHICKEN is whats on the menu and a few sides too. Oh & don't forget the dessert!! Miss Adriene welcomed us in and took a little time to give us the run down and next thing we knew we were enjoying some finger lickin' good chicken! We opted to try the 3 and 3 (3 wings & 3 tenders) and the fried pickles! The pickles were thin and crispy and NOT greasy, oh so good! The wings & tenders were cooked to perfection and the complimenting sauces were great. The drink station was VERY clean and we lOVED the raspberry & peach teas. I also tried the sweet tea and it was so refreshing that it wasn't overly sweet. I noticed all the other patrons that came in and out during our visit were happy to be there and a few even knew the staff by name. To me that says they really respect & appreciate everyone that comes....enough to get to know them! I can't wait to go back as I really want to try the buffalo chicken salad and mason jar desserts!! I ordered my first slim chickens here from a drive thru and it was a bit late (I went at 10pm and they close at midnight, I believe). Sooooo... my review might not be Slim Chickens' best service.. or just the way it was. The people at the drive thru were pretty nice. They weren't patient or anything. They actually waited until we figured out which ones we wanted to get. Initially I wanted their jar desserts but they were out so that took us longer to order. The chicken... well for wings.. I'm taking off a star. The wings were dry and pretty hard. It feels like it was friend a couple times and reheated. Now, my friends really hyped up this place so I thought this was better than my other wing places. Sadly it didn't make the cut. The CHICKEN TENDERS though!! That, I will come back for! Solid chicken tender place! Tenders were juicy and moist on the inside and fried a golden brown on the outside. (Not oily at all) Fries were seasoned (seasoned salt perhaps?) and seemed to have been cooked in clean/new oil. (As in non-overused/burned oil) They have a variety of sauces but I had the chipotle ranch and the slim sauces. The ranch was very good and slightly spicy-tasted like a wholesome ranch with cayenne pepper mixed in. The slim sauce was like the sauces you see at Cane's or Zaxby's, however I thought it was just "okay" here. The flavored teas are tasty!!!! Not too overwhelmingly sweet ether. The chicken strips were good,, fresh,,, toast was a little dark but my biggest complaint was the white gravy.... The chicken...from what I can tell from my palette these folk dip the tenders in hot sauce (Tabasco more than likely) and use a batter with a whole lotta salt, not really what I call good eatin'. The strips are accompanied by "not Texas toast", 2 dipping sauces and fries. All bad, the toast is buttered very lightly and hit with a sprinkle of garlic and more salt. Moist and juicy not too much breading or overly greasy. All white meat and better than most places you can get. Best part is the number of sauces. I had buffalo, slim sauce, and bbq all delicious.
