Slim Chickens is new to Vegas! This first location just recently opened, and I love that they have a patio. They also have a great freebie on their app to get a free Chipotle Ranch Chicken Sandwich, which lured me in faster than I'd originally planned. The specialty here is chicken tenders, and they have a a good variety of southern sides, including mac and cheese, potato salad, fried pickles, fried okra, and fried mushrooms, in addition to the usual fries, with dipping sauces. The southern influence is also clear in their drink options, with several fresh-made iced teas, including sweet, unsweet, raspberry, and peach. They also have shakes. I got the sandwich, a side of fried mushrooms with bleu cheese to dip, and a half unsweet-half peach tea. I appreciate the sandwich freebie but the chicken itselff was a very small, thin piece of meat - I thought it was a single tender, not a fried chicken breast, per the menu description. The fried onions were crispy, the lettuce was fresh, and the sauce was minimal, so hard to say how that was. But I would have been upset to pay full price. The meat was less than half the size of a typical chicken breast on the Popeyes sandwich, for a higher price ($7.99 vs $4.99). The mushroom side was about $5, not bad considering, and a decent portion size. The first several mushrooms were great - hot and crispy! Unfortunately, the ones that were further down were greasy and soggy. I did like the bleu cheese, it was flavorful and chunky. Overall, it was kind of a wash for lunch that would be just under $15 at full price. I don't live nearby and I'm not in the area often. I'm willing to give them another try for the tenders they specialize in, but I'm not in any hurry to do so, considering how many fried chicken spots we have in town. read more

Slim Chickens is finally in Vegas! They ran a special on Instagram to download their app and get a free Cayenne Ranch Chicken Sandwich, no purchase necessary. They just opened on Monday, the 6th and we had time to drop in for lunch. Redeeming my sandwich through the app was simple. I also bought a side of fries and a side of ranch, while my cousin tried their mac and cheese. First, let me say this: if you're an introvert, order online, go inside once it's ready, and leave immediately. They are huge on Southern hospitality, but as an Autistic person, it got a little too overwhelming for me eating there. The first thing we noticed is that they believe in Southern hospitality through and through. Someone opens the door and greets every guest arriving and thanks everyone who leaves. We were greeted by no less than 4 people before we made it to the register. While we were waiting and eating, several employees stopped to introduce themselves by name and offer assistance. They even offer to refill your drink, which is probably not smart during flu season, but I get that they pride themselves on being helpful and friendly. If you enjoy chatting with people, you'll love Slim Chickens. If you're not a people person, you can also order on one of the kiosks to the left or through the app. They had a literal army of people working in the kitchen so our food was prepared in just minutes. It was hot and fresh and delicious! You can get your own drinks. They have Coke products, lemonade, plus several kinds of iced tea. There's tons of indoor seating and an outdoor area they call the porch. My Cayenne Ranch Chicken Sandwich was huge and so tender. The cayenne ranch sauce has the perfect hint of heat. It's safe for people who only like mild spice. You can get the chicken breast tossed in hot sauce if you want even more heat. The crispy onions and lettuce added a perfect balance. I took off the pickles because ew. The bun was soft and bouncy and stood up to the ranch sauce without getting soggy or falling apart. I got a medium fry, which I couldn't finish. They taste exactly like Wendy's, only with more salt. The ranch was just like Wingstop, which is excellent. I want to try their 5-pack of sauce ($2) next time. They have gravy, honey mustard, a Slim's sauce (tomato and herb?) and so many more. We will definitely be back. Their mac and cheese bowls and their chicken and waffle plates looked delicious. Well, unlike the others that have left a "positive" review. This is far from a positive experience Not sure the hype; but i experienced dry old tenders. Nothing was fresh. The toast, slightly darker than a golden color that you would hope to see for "toast", and a burnt taste! The place is very nice in and out, but I couldn't say the same for the food. What's even worse, it's not even a crowded place, so you could make the food on the go. If you need pointers; ask raising canes; how they make the best chicken stay so moist. Folks from the South know fried Chicken, and they have long known about Slim Chickens. This is Slim's first location in the Vegas valley. Many Vegas locals (and all of the Californian transplants that are here) still think Raising Cane's and Chick-fil-A are worth spending an hour in their drive-thru's, but not this Southern Man. Slims has a very extensive menu considering it is essentially a Chicken shack. But honestly, other than the Fried Okra, Fried Mushrooms and mac n' cheese, ... and the waffles and syrup of the chicken & waffles ... what really sets them far apart is their Sweets. The Oreo cheesecake and Brownie pudding (mason) Jars, along with the Cookie Butter Crunch shake are worth the visit by themselves. These are Adam-biting-the-Apple sinful. Generic fried foods taste the same whether or not one eats it right away, or after its all cold and soggy from the ride home. But Good fried foods should be consumed fresh out of the fryer - and everything is cooked to order here - so I suggest eating in their dining room, or out on their patio (the perfect location to watch the Drag Races on St Rose!). read more

As far as chicken joints go, this place ranks higher than others. A truer score would be 4.5 stars because of the service. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with a friendly smile. Being that this was our first time here, Tariq, who worked the cash register (also brought food out when he wasn't busy at the register), explained the menu in detail. As a point of reference, it's like Raising Cane's with more options. In addition to offering tenders, they have wings, and chicken and waffles. If you want something on the healthier side, they offer a grilled chicken wrap as well. They also have quite the selection of sauces. I actually prefer the tenders here because they are lightly breaded. They are smaller than what you'd get at Cane's, but for me it's the right amount. While we were eating, Tariq stopped by to ask how our meal was. You don't really get this type of service at other places. This young man was very impressive and understood hospitality! Went here after seeing a couple of videos online so decided to check it out! Went close to opening day and the vibe is definitely southern hospitality. We were greeted right upon entrance! The manager came to our table to check on us a couple of times which was so nice. The only downfall is I didn't like the constant comparison to canes and to see if they were better ( we were asked a couple of times ). I just feel you can't compare the two because they both have their own flavor. Now the food itself, you can't really compare it to anything solely because they are unique in the sense of the flavors they offer and they offer both wings and tenders amongst other sides. Their chicken tenders were a little dry but nothing some sauce couldn't fix. I didn't get my chicken sauced but my bf did. I haven't been back since that day, I don't necessarily crave it like that. Delicious food. Been twice, ordered just about the whole menu, and it's all very solid. Unfortunately, they decided to force a drink as being "included" on damn near every item on the menu, so minus a star for that annoying trait. Not only do I not want to haul multiple drinks around in my car, when I'm eating my wings, I don't want soda anyway. I want beer. Give me a way to remove the drink and save $1 (rather than paying for it in the "included" price and just refusing it for no $$$ break) and get a star back. Second star lost for something equally annoying, which is the lack of a special instructions area when placing a website pickup order. If I MUST get a drink, I don't want ice (so I can save it for tomorrow and drink my beer with my dinner), but there's nowhere for me to request that. My mom and I stopped there tonight for the first time, we were able to get 3 meals plus 2 kids meals and an ore cheesecake jar for $51! I ordered the chicken wrap and got hot sauce on the side. It was what you'd expect garlic parm to do. I'd probably skip it next time and try something more flavorful. For dipping I got Korean bbq and mango habanero. Mango had a nice kick to it. It would be good on wings. Korean bbq was okay. There are so many sauces to choose from so next time I'll try different. The tenders left a little bit to be desired. And now here's the part people will debate until they die.... Mac n cheese. To me, it was one of the better Mac n cheese I have had. It was very creamy, cheesy and tasty. I was really excited to try Slim Chickens out, but was really disappointed. Today I ordered the chicken sandwich and the fried mushrooms. The chicken sandwich felt slathered in sauce, and the chicken itself was good until I got to the center and the texture was like biting into a raw piece of chicken. Let me clarify that it appeared cooked all the way through with no pink. It just had the rubbery texture that's associated with raw chicken, which turned me off so much I couldn't finish it. I don't know if it's due to the quality of the chicken or the way it was cooked, but it was definitely inedible. The fried mushrooms were okay. The batter kept sliding off on half of the ones I picked up. I plan to give it another attempt and try something else to see if it was a fluke before write it off completely. The variety of wings and sauces is means everyone gets something they like. The tenders, both fried and grilled, are always on point. And don't forget the brownies--soft and chewy amazingness! Everything is always fresh, and it's packaged carefully for takeout. No worry about hot and cold food in the same bag here. Plus, the customer service here is OUTSTANDING!
