Passing through Dalton, AL on our way back to Atlanta, we spotted a billboard for Slim Chickens and figured, "Why not?" Well... let's just say Slim Chickens turned into slim pickin's. The menu is actually pretty impressive. They offer tenders, wings, sandwiches, salads, desserts, milkshakes--you name it. Looking at the menu had us thinking we were about to stumble onto our next favorite chicken spot. Since we weren't starving, we ordered the 3 & 3 combo: three tenders, three wings, fries, Texas toast, a drink, and an extra dipping sauce for about $14. We chose the chicken fried so we could sample two sauces--the Slim Sauce and the Cayenne Ranch. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite match the menu hype. As you can see from the photo, the chicken was... well... slim. Even worse, it didn't have much flavor on its own. The sauces ended up doing all the heavy lifting. The Slim Sauce was pretty decent, and I actually think it would've been much better if the chicken had been tossed in it while it was hot instead of using it as a dip. The Cayenne Ranch was okay, but nothing I'd go out of my way for. Speaking of hot... the chicken wasn't. That's probably the biggest letdown considering they advertise everything as cooked to order. Now, I will give credit where it's due. The staff was friendly, polite, and welcoming, so the service was solid from start to finish. Overall, Slim Chickens wasn't terrible... but it definitely wasn't memorable either. It was edible, but not craveable. I don't see myself making a special trip back. 3 out of 5 stars. read more

Here visiting family and had to check out Slim Chickens! Food was amazing. Hot, fresh, and tasty. Chicken was so tender and juicy. Fries seasoned well, toast perfectly toasted. My mom tried the grilled chicken and Mac & cheese bowl and we were all super impressed. That grilled chicken is SO flavorful. Service was great too. The people are so nice. GM was cashiering and acted as an equal to his employees. Love to see a manager who is involved in the day to day and not just barking orders and camping out in the office claiming to be doing paperwork. Our cashier Breanna was an absolute sweetheart and so full of joy. The app has deals and rewards. Make sure to download it. read more

Today was their first day open to the public. There are two lanes for the drive-thru to order and for mobile pick up which I personally think is a great idea. The staff inside, Makayla and Amia provided excellent service throughout my experience at Dothan's new location. I can still hear Makayla saying "Welcome to Slim Chickens" in my head when I first walked in. All with a smile Makayla continued to check on me as I was eating. At the end of my meal Amia make sure to come check on me and offer to dispose of my trash. I noticed as I sat and ate my food, both Amia and Makayla were engaged and pleasant with customers when ordering and after the transaction. Also met the training manager Monica, who was friendly as well and reminded me about the survey to get a free brownie. I hope the great customer service stays in place long after the initial opening. Slim Chickens offers tenders, wings, sandwiches, salad, desserts in jars and shakes. They also have a macaroni bowl, chicken wrap and chicken and waffle available. Since I hadn't eaten breakfast yet, but also wanted to try the chicken I ordered the chicken and waffle. It was great, the waffle was freshly made topped with a dollop of butter, kinda needed two dollops since the waffle was about 6-7 inches in diameter, but that's just me, I like to smother my food with butter because everything is better with butter. The chicken was juicy and tender and bottles of Log Cabin syrup is available to add more to the waffle. I don't live in Alabama, so I'll definitely be back before I leave. read more

Tonight we tried to order 25 wings for a quick pick up but the app pushed the order out 2 hours and 15 minutes. Once we noticed the order was not going to be ready until 9:15 pm we tried to cancel the order. The app doesn't allow an order to be cancelled and so we went down to the store to see if by chance they would fill the order earlier. The store manager refused to help and said we would have to wait until the order processed at 9:15. He refused to help us in any way and refused to cancel the order in the system. Now I'm out $52.75. We were told the ONLY resolution was to file a claim with the bank to try and get the money back. Additionally the order we placed the day before was incorrect. We paid for additional sauces that were left out of our order and the food was cold. Wish I could give 0 stars for this store. read more

I try to be positive but this time I'm only positive about one thing...Frozen stringy chicken tenders. So sad... The best thing this chicken restaurant has going for it is it's sitting right in front of GOLDFINGERS!!! At least you can get some Goldfingers right across the parking lot! read more

8pc chicken wing combo add fried mushrooms was the order. Wings were not even warm. Hard with some parts inedible. Fries were luke warm and hard. Mushrooms were very salty, greasy and missing. Just crust but no mushroom inside. The sweet tea was good. Wasted $22+. I will not be going back. read more

We ordered chicken legs/wings in sauce. The kitchen staff tossed fridge-cold chicken legs and wings into heated sauce for seemingly a few seconds, with obvious results. We were then served cold chicken in warm sauce. No staff asked how was our meal. read more

We had been here the week of grand opening but only for the fried okra. We should have stopped while ahead. I decided to try the chicken last night,so I got in line(one car ahead). The curb employee approached my car to get my order,but I was a good 15 feet from menu board, so she had to find a menu off another curb person. One positive note is she was as nice and friendly as could be, but that was the highlight. I ordered 2 chick's meals,both with sweet tea no ice,and a side of okra. I pulled on forward and another employee brought me 2 sweet teas full of ice, which turned out to be a good thing as tea on bottom was hot,and so sickenly sweet I could feel a diabetic coma coming on. Bad. I finally pulled to the window/door/prep area(?), just to wait. This configuration is the most confusing ever. On previous visit,the manager was directing traffic,having folks back up so those ahead could squeeze out. It just seems a big waste of manpower to have one person bring drinks, a different to bring food,etc. Inside this door there were at least 10 employees with 1 working,the girl bagging food. Apparently the holdup was the okra, so when I received entire order,chicken and fries and uncooked garlic toast were room temp. Heading on home so I could see what $30 bought, I realized they had the fries so salty they were inedible. The chicken,let me talk about that. If I didn't know better I would swear they were pigeon fingers,anorexic bird at best. On strip was not as big around as my pinky,and half the length. The flavor was good,the breading crunchy with just the right amount of seasoning. The slim sauce was too orange and thick for me,but that is preference. The so called garlic toast did have a mild garlicky flavor, but it had not even been heated, it was completely white bread out of wrapper. I wished I had more pros than cons,but I just can't in all honesty. With as many employees standing around, the food should have been cooked,hot, and less confusion. All employees I have encountered were outstanding, but that's really the only plus. Sorry slim, you didn't dodge the bullet. read more
