lunch special - cranberry relish, brie, stuffing sandwich with soup
Christiane M.

this sandwich and soup was so so good. i'm a vegetarian and requested no ham on my sandwich so they substituted with extra brie which was amazing. service was so friendly and the place was so cute

I love this sign!

Well isn't this only bleedin deadly. Finally somewhere super cute super tasty and super bleedin funky and super bleedin comfy in the Batter. So yeah, Slice is a new piece of the Cake Cafe in Portobello. It's a chip of the old block with similar branding and light and airy feel. Painted nice n white with bright colours and lovely little jars of flowers on each table. We came for brunch, and the place was jammers, as it seems to consistently be. We found a couple of chairs after not too much effort, and settled in for some eats. My friend had the baked breakfast - beans, eggs, rashers, I had the sausage with scrambled eggs, toast and avocado & chives. It was HUGE and really good. They sell a small range of nice teas as well - each time I've been here, I've gone for the 'Everlasting Life'. Aside from the name, it's a refreshing and light blend with a subtle sweetness, highly recommended. The staff are all very friendly and approachable, and the service was efficient and professional. One star off for having no wifi - surely all cafes these days should have wifi?

Chocolate orange slice

Great coffee and cake!!! Brilliant varied menu but I stopped in for said coffee and cake. I chose a chocolate orange slice which was made with dark chocolate and utterly delicious. Their coffee is a blend made for them by 3FE. The guys there are v nice and friendly with a sprinkling of hipster (these days is that such a bad thing?!) Not a five because I found it kinda small and the tables are v close together. It seems kinda cramped if the tables are full! Like I say though great coffee and cake. I even bought some other cake to try at home. If you can get a table here it is worth the visit!

It's rare I find myself in Stoneybatter as it's slightly out of the way, but they certainly have some good food spots located there. Slice is a sister of the Cake Cafe, and it's just as cute and tiny and cosy. The brunch menu is quite long with mainly egg dishes. I was contemplating to try their carrot/ walnut pancakes, but sadly they had ran out. The brunchbowl I got was massive and delicious. two poached eggs with couscous, croutons and grilled veg. I asked for an added sausage, but in hindsight probably could have done without it, as I also got two slices of bread with it, so it was impossible to finish it all. Polished it off with a fresh peppermint tea and the total came only to 13€. Very good value.

I have been back a good few times since my first review, mainly cause it's location is dead-handy and also cause I love their daily changing fresh juices. Since then, the mini-people hence noise situation that put me off at first, doesn't seem to be 'a situation' any longer. Still loud above average at weekend brunch times, SLICE is now one of my favourites in the neighbourhood. All the staff is just lovely, there's a nice vibe about the place, they serve 3FE coffee and lots of different cakes (some sugar and gluten-free options) and they have daily changing specials written on the back of their monster coffee machine . I just wished they opened a little longer.

Had breakie in slice this morning. The cafe is quite small, so when we arrived we had a little wait before we got a seat. Which is ok, just be aware. The staff were run off their feet. We were given our menus and it was about 10/15mins before they came over to take our orders. We ordered coffee & food. The coffee took quite a while to come. Which was quite annoying. Apart from the wait the food was extremely delicious. The beans and toast were the highlight fo shizzzz. God they were good. I will struggle not to order these when I'm back. We also had the carrot cake pancakes. The citrus curd, my oh MYYY! We were a bit dubious so we asked for it on the side. Ehhhh no need. It was so good I stated eating it straight from the ramekin. Spoonfuls of sweet, sour, lemony heaven. The vegi scramble was very gudd too. Nice hint of lemon on top. All and all great spot. I will defo b Bak, but not if I'm looking for a quick bite :)

Sausage scramble and brand on toast with ALL the extras! Totes ma goats worth it!

SLICE IS AMAZING! Actually in love this place. Went for brunch and got the sausage scramble with ALL the sides. Topped with avocado and along with pepper and onions I was thoroughly filled and got a world class latte to boot. My girlfriend got the beans on toast and also got all the extras including a poached egg and bacon. We throughly enjoyed the meal and the sour dough toast we got served with our breakfast was delicious. The only issue I would have with slice is the tight quarters which have led us to have to wait outside for quite sometime however the food made up for the wait and the friendly staff and great atmosphere made the experience thoroughly enjoyable!

Settling in for the evening

I've been to SLICE for a Yelp evening event - Beer and Food matching. So it's not the normal experience you can get here during their normal opening hours but as they do offer private rental of the cafe / restaurant it might be helpful for some. The place is small enough but with four long tables we managed to fit in around 28 people which resulted in a very nice, cosy, relaxed and lively atmosphere. The staff was friendly, relaxed and enjoyed the evening as much as we did, despite it being work for them. And the food was simply excellent. My favourites were the Pickled Mushroom with Brie and pear salad and the Lamb Burger with their very own Tomato Relish. Just to avoid any confusion: As SLICE don't offer beer but rather wine with their food on this occasion the beer was provided by the "drinkstore" around the corner. So next time I'm in Stoneybatter around lunchtime I'd definitely try more of their menu and also hope for another opportunity to be there for an evening event.

This hip little spot is to die for. Everything is all natural and tastes amazing. When we had to wait a little bit for a table (we had a larger party) the staff consistently came to check on us to ensure we weren't forgotten. We could not stop talking about the food all day and will now be our go to for the rest of our stay here in Ireland. The staff was extremely kind and helpful, the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, and the food cannot be topped. I got the vegetarian toast and even though I was full I couldn't stop eating! The house special drink was watermelon and apple and let me tell you, spectacular. The price point was constant with the food as well. Not over priced at all. Overall, if you're around go! 10/10 will be eating there again.

So happy to have a new local cafe on my doorstep. I have been here for a couple of brunches and the odd takeaway coffee. The brunch menu consists of the usual suspects; muesli, scrambled eggs, pancakes, beans on toast or the full breakfast. The quality of the food is very good and they deliver it with there own twist. Prices on the brunch menu are pretty reasonable at between €5 to €10 per dish. I love how they have decorated the cafe, it looks great and has a really cool vibe about it. They do an evening menu from Thursday to Saturday (which can be ordered to takeaway) that sounds lovely, haven't managed to sample it yet!

Spicy Irish Sausage Scramble on sourdough with smoked white pudding

Friendly and attentive staff, relaxed atmosphere, great WiFi, and a large brunch menu that kept me occupied for quite some time. So happy my Airbnb was right down the street! I highly suggest the spicy irish sausage scramble on sourdough with their smoked white pudding.

Tastey juices

Absolutely yummy! It was a lovely sunny afternoon when the bfriend and i went here for lunch and it did not dissapoint! What a cool place to have just around the corner. The beef sandwich was amazing. The bread was super deluxe fresh! I had a ice tea lemonade which tasted delish and refreshing. I had a taste of the ginger and carrot juice which was great too and good value for money cause it comes in a bottle! Himself had the soup of the day which if i remember correctly was tomato and roast pepper with sourdough bread on the side. Place was packed so might be difficult to get a spot at busy times but don't give up as it's worth it! (Not sure about the 3fe coffee - seemed a little tasteless)

3fe coffee, delicious food and very cosy interior all what i can ask for. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and usually are, our brunch came fast and was well presented and their coffee is Amaizinggggggh. Today i had granola with poached fruits and yogurt and poppy seeds ( yum yum yum) and espresso macchiato, my friend had scrambled eggs and avocado on toast, green tea and xmass biscuit which we got for free. Overall, great spot for breakfast/ brunch

The Back Loft is a bright and roomy multi-disciplinary loft located at the back of La Catedral Studios. It is a multi-purpose space for the arts in a reclaimed Victorian industrial loft. Refurbished to a bare minimum to preserve the raw fabric of its past time charm, this inspired space is an unconventional artists' playground which embraces any art related project. The space may be hired for art exhibitions, live art events, theatre plays and rehearsals, workshops, intimate music gigs, dance, life drawing, photo shoots, film location and functions, to mention a few. The Back Loft is particularly open to experimentations and to adventurous site-specific work, to individual and collectives' curated projects and is an ideal springboard for emerging artists. I recently attended a photo exhibition here organized by a college friend who was able to get her hands on the venue relatively easily. Since its establishment in 2005, the Back Loft has played host to a great array of events independently curated by individuals and collectives. From what she said the studios offered a nurturing and supportive environment with 24 hr/7 day access, wi-fi, visibility on the studios' blog, kitchen and chill out space, free attendance at the back loft events, participation in an open studio event at Culture Night, negotiable rates for hire of the Back Loft and free access to the Back Loft for private use. I have attended a separate function here where I witnessed the use of one projector, one sound system (mixing desk and two speakers), two microphone stands, one microphone, one upright acoustic piano and a rack of gallery spotlights to further emphasise it's unique resourcefulness. From a punter's point of view the space's great natural light as a result of sky-lights running the length of the space and original pine timber flooring provide the ideal backdrop to witness pioneering artwork like no other.
