Early afternoon the wind was completely gone and I asked one of the lift operators if they planned on re-opening the upper mountain and he stated they sent the lift operators home. Granted it was a week day, however I took a day off of work and spent a ton of money with their greedy prices to only ski a small part of the mountain. Showdown ski resort is fairly priced (probably too fair) and not too far of a drive.

The promoters were not to be deterred, thankfully, as I spent a lot of money just to get here. Compared to other festivals this one is run exceptionally. There is no heavy handed security people acting like wanna be cops. There presence is there if you need one. All of the staff is friendly, helpful and happy. The crowd is organized well and there is plenty of room for everyone. The only morning competition and run for space is for shaded areas and shade shelter spots. If you want to get close to the performers it's easy to just walk up to the standing area in front of the stage. For such big name acts, the festival crowd is mellow and friendly. At no time did I smell tobacco or witness its use in the standing area, a real rarity! The biggest positive,somewhat surprisingly, is that they don't price gouge now that you are captive. At some festivals the whole town raises their prices just for you. All the prices here were pretty much normal. Some of the food trucks were a bit pricey but not obscene. The sandwiches at the coffee shop were way overpriced but overall the food and beverage scene was good. We had to take the lift to the top in order to see the mountain peaks through the smoke. I'm glad we did, it was fun and spectacular. The lodging was very nice, with a good supply of hot water and a comfortable bed. The sounds travel well through the walls and ceiling so a good nights sleep is not guaranteed. We had an elephant man upstairs who walked about in his room for hours! WHY? Just bring ear plugs, they may help. The room key gets you into the pool area, but the hot tub had too many people in it to try. Did not matter, the air temp was 95 degrees at 6:00 pm. It's a bit of a drive to get here but I think I liked this festival better than Rocky Grass, just because everything is so much easier. If there is another great lineup I'll be here! Billy Strings?

The servers helping out with the outdoor tables were great at keeping track of everyone and it made for a really nice, relaxed atmosphere.

Our guide said the rapids were more like Class III - I think this is typical later summer? But our boys are enthusiasts and want to go again (but more of Class IV) - it was pretty mild, but like I said, great 1st experience. Quick drive from Town Center in Big Sky - like 10 minutes. Do your waiver and payment on-line for seamless check-in. It was a nice day with obviously cold water - we didn't rent any special gear, and were totally fine. Water starts to feel good (at least if you have a nice day like we did). Wear your Teva's or water shoes! About a 20 minute drive to where you take off. Hope for a great guide - we had Kyle and he made our trip exceptional. We were going through dips and "whitewater" that other rafts were passing by. He was very experienced, had a great personality and had a lot of knowledge about the surroundings. Thanks Kyle!! Return is roughly 35 minutes back, where you can view your photos. The photographers are phenomenal, but pricey - $125 for all the digitals. There is an option to choose 1 or 3 photos, but there are so many great pic's, you'll want them all! Don't forget to bring cash to tip your guide - if you forget (like we did), you can Venmo. Great times.

We got the wet suits and booties which was only like $7/person total. I'd highly recommend getting it. Kept us warm. We did that Level 3-4. My kids are 16 and 19 and loved every bit and want to do it again. I felt like the level 3-4 was doable though we had some close calls. Out of the 6 raft's no one went over. Theses guides are skilled. The time is exhilarating and serene at the same time. You get to to tip your guide after. We also choose to get a digital photo which the photographer does an incredible job capturing our moments. After you get to enjoy some of the best hot chocolates in town or coffee. This establishment is legit. It's a bit pricey after everything is done but so worth the experience with the family!

AVOID THIS YELLOWSTONE TOUR COMPANY AT ALL COSTS…read more If you're dreaming of a once-in-a-lifetime Yellowstone tour, Yellowstone guided tour, or Cody Wyoming Yellowstone tour -- do NOT waste your money here. We prepaid $458, woke up before dawn, drove 90 minutes, and stood in the cold, pouring rain before 7AM on a street corner with no shelter, waiting for this company's so-called Yellowstone National Park day trip. The tour van NEVER showed. We called repeatedly. "Michael" kept brushing us off -- "She's only 2 minutes late... she has other stops" -- and told us to just keep waiting. One full hour in the rain later, we asked for a refund. His solution? "Come back tomorrow." (As if we had nothing better to do than waste another vacation day waiting on a sidewalk.) The next day, they denied our refund. To add insult, the "guide" claimed she drove past us THREE TIMES and had "witnesses." Yet never called us -- despite having our phone numbers -- then blamed us for "missing" the pickup! She even admitted this happens often... then hung up on us. BOTTOM LINE: * No-show Yellowstone pickup * No way to reach actual guide/driver * ZERO customer service -- only excuses * NO refund Save yourself the headache and heartbreak. Choose a reputable Yellowstone wildlife tour, Yellowstone sightseeing tour, or Yellowstone day tour with real transportation, real communication -- and at least a shred of integrity.
