The horses we were on were Big Kent and Big Tex- both were great and they did well for us and we ( experienced riders) loved it that we actually had to ride them. Horses are nice and fat/healthy. They are the ONLY horseback riding with permits to enter Tetons and Yellowstone . Other Yellowstone horseback riding is through xantera or whatever the main Yellowstone commercial Company that manages all the hotels/restaurants/staff for general stores, very Disneyland/commercial. Wilderness Trails is family owned, rural, one of a kind. We felt like a family on the prairie. They literally plop horse corrals and tents and cooking station in the middle of grand Tetons and Yellowstone on a meadow/prairie like plot of land. All the staff live there in tents and some campers and so you basically join "their family" and live that life. They had a professional chef that came from a Michilin Star restaurant (he was not technically a Michilin chef) but food was amazing and so well Done! We got to eat with our horse wranglers and the chef and felt like part of their family. They all had their own dog and my kids had so much fun running around with all The doggies:) they had a warm outdoor like shower and you are in the middle of nature bathing amd my daughter said it was the best shower of her life! It was my 7 year olds first time horseback riding and she did just fine! My other kids were 10 and 12-they wanted to "live there" and asked if we could have their bday parties there. The people here accommodated to her by giving her a very sturdy, docile horse named Sage. My mom now loves horses. All of the horses are super well trained. The view of the mountains is absolutely beautiful when you get up to the ridge. The staff is wonderful and they know a lot about the area so you learn new things along the ride. One of the best horseback riding experiences I've ever had.

(Cross posting this here & at Wilderness Trails as this is where I initially researched the…read morelocation) My 10-year old LOVED our stay here - it was the highlight of our trip and she's begging to come back next year for a multi-night ride into the mountains. The camp is great though definitely expect rustic accommodations with the exception of the beds, which are (heavenly) real mattresses. The horses and ride were great - very well-mannered horses and a wonderful evening ride through wildflower-filled mountain meadows, creeks, and up and down reasonably challenging terrain. What my daughter (and I) loved most were the people - Sam was a great cook and friendly guide and our other guide Mariah was incredibly patient with my daughter's barrage of questions and let her help put away tack and feed the horses after the ride. A truly memorable Wyoming experience with many great memories.

The trail ride was such an adventure for this Texas girl who's use to riding on flat ground! The fireside dinner was excellent and the beds are comfortable. It was nice not to have to set up a tent once getting to the campground, everything is ready for you! There is a convenience store closeby if you end up needing anything. It's also just down the road from the entrance to Yellowstone so it's easy to make this horseback riding adventure one of the stops on your trip! We put on life jackets and were given safety instructions. We were helped on and off the rafts. We wore sneakers and carried cameras, everything stayed dry. Steve wisked us down the Snake River for almost 90 minutes. He pointed out bald eagle, flowers, beavers... The scenery was mesmerizing, a perfect way to spend the day. As the clouds lifted, the majestic Grand Tetons came into site & I took hundreds of photographs here. We disembarked at Deadman's Bar. We were transported by van to a beautiful overlook.
