The best way to view Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons We recently took a 1 day tour of the Grand Tetons and a 4 day tour of Yellowstone National Park using Buffalo Roam Tours. Matt worked with us for over a year in planning our trip and our guides (Al and Steven) could not have been better. We had a very diverse group, ranging in age from 7 to 79 years and in ability from over-active kids to some adults who had trouble climbing stairs. We had 2 guides because our group was too large for a single van. Steven and Al worked together to match the opportunities with the group abilities. For example, one would take part of the group on a scenic hike to a feature while the other would drive the "non-hiking" group on a more direct (but less scenic) path. The major advantage of hiring professional, local guides is that they know the area very well and know when and where to find special events. For example, they knew when and where to be in Lamar Valley to see the wolves, when and where to see the Osprey in its nest, when and where to be to see the rainbow in the mist of Lower Yellowstone Falls. These are all things we would have probably missed had we organized the trip on our own. Steven and Al were both very good at spotting wildlife as we were driving along. For example, at one spot they stopped and said there were Pronghorn Sheep in the meadow next to us. We had to look quite some time before we finally spotted them. They quickly spotted bears (over a dozen), Pronghorn, goats, Osprey carrying fish, etc. When it comes to observing wildlife, Buffalo Roam Tours has high quality binoculars (1 per each person in our group) and high quality spotting scopes (1 per van.) This allowed everyone to get very good looks at the wildlife. I would HIGHLY recommend Buffalo Roam Tours if you are planning to go to either the Grand Tetons or to Yellowstone National Park. We went on a one-day tour of Grand Teton National Park in early May. The tour was exceptionally good. Our tour guide, Frank, was very knowledgeable about the area and provided a comfortable and friendly environment, and answered our many questions with patience. The touring van was comfortable, easy to get in and out of, had good visibility, and was well-equipped with binoculars, spotting scope, water and snacks to keep us going through the day. The pace of the tour was just right: leisurely enough that we were able to enjoy each spot, but it kept moving and we were able to cover a lot of ground and at least touch on all of the "must see" points in GTNP, as well as some lesser-known areas. I would recommend this especially as a tour to take on one's first day in GTNP. It gave us a very good sense of the park and the wildlife so that we were better able to plan our activities in subsequent days. If you are looking for an incredible day to see Yellowstone, this tour is personable, informative, educational, enjoyable and amazing! Our tour guide, Connie, picked us up promptly at our Dude Ranch and took us on a 200+ mile 10+ hour ride through the Grand Teton National Park and lower Yellowstone loop. WOW, what a day!!! We saw everything we wanted and more. She timed the blowing of Old Faithful perfectly and gave us time to visit the hotel there. A must see! We took beautiful walks to beautiful sites. We were dropped at the beginning of 'must see' view trails and picked up promptly when we returned. Connie has actually lived in Yellowstone and you can feel her love for the area. Seems like it would be a long day but, it whizzed by and we were sorry to say goodbye. We toured Yellowstone Park with James, and the Grand Tetons with Tony two days later. Both parks are magnificently different and we couldn't have asked for better weather on either day. This allowed our keen-eyed and informative guides to provide us a close look and detailed discussion into the terrain, habitats and wonders of each park. More importantly, the small-group tour method ensured our quick and efficient arrival and departure from each attraction within the parks. This allowed us time to more fully enjoy every stop along the way rather than dwell on the effort getting to or from there. Also, the size of our tour van afforded ready access to areas where larger tour vehicles are unlikely to venture, which provided us additional opportunities to see bison, moose, elk, deer, a fox and raptors of all kinds including a beautiful bald eagle. We hoped to see a wolf, but had to settle for a grizzly bear at the tree line!!! read more

I wanted to leave a review for Matt and team for a fantastic trip. I am totally blind, and Matt took his time to share of his expertise. I was part of a travel group of sighted and blind. Matt and his team took care of every aspect of the tour from food, lodging, guides, and personal touches. I am so impressed with this company's expertise. While in Yellowstone, we visited many different areas and was able to experience many childhood scenes. If I ever make it out there again, I will look them up again. I felt like I was with family due to the care the staff took. I just wish I would have more opportunities to spend time with Matt. Our group was split between two vans. Our van was guided by Al on the first part of our tour, and he is very good and friendly. I am very impressed with Al's knowledge. I was sad to learn that he was unable to go with us to Yellowstone. We went on 2 tours with Matt from Buffalo Roam. First he took us on an outstanding full day lower loop tour in Yellowstone. Matt has a lot of knowledge of the geological aspects of Yellowstone which he shared with us, so we learned and had fun. We also say lots of bison while driving around. Second, he took us on a day tour of the Grand Tetons. Matt is a conservationist and has extensive knowledge about the wildlife and their habitats. We visited in the wrong time of year to see bears and wolves but we lucked into seeing a male elk on the side of the road right next to our van, which was awesome. We also saw bison, pronghorn antelope, eagles, a coyote, and different species of birds. Matt took us into Jackson for a delicious lunch and pointed out the highlights for us to come back and visit the next day. All in all, Matt treated us to 2 wonderful days in nature! We were happy that we booked the Yellowstone tour with Buffalo Roam Tours. Matt called to verify our online booking and gave us information about how to layer our clothes for the September weather. Tony picked us up at our hotel and showed us all the highlights of the park. He continually gave us information about geothermals and the park. Tony would stop for photos, and was never in a rush. Except when it came to opening the van door--he was right there every time to open the sliding door. We never could have seen as much in one day on our own. Tony also knew where to park, eat, and where to view Old Faithful to avoid the crowds. What an amazing day! We also went on Grand Teton tour with Al as guide. Again, great information about the park. We had a perfect day with Frank of Buffalo Roam Tours, exploring Yellowstone Park. There were 8 of us, including 4 kiddos from ages 7-11. The van was great, Frank was so knowledgeable, making the day fly by with his great narration and fun facts. He took us to off-the-beaten path landmarks within the park - so we skipped busy parking lots, lines, and lots of people. Felt like we had the perfect private tour. Time was spent enjoying the beauty of the park, rather than waiting in long lines for a photo opp. We had a lovely private picnic lunch by the water - it was a great time for our kids to stretch their legs. We came to Jackson Hole specifically to see the wildlife. We booked a tour with Buffalo Roam tours and could not have been more delighted. Matt, our tour guide, was friendly, knowledgeable, and knew where to find the animals. Matt picked us up at our hotel promptly at 7:00. He took the time to talk with us to determine what we wanted to see before we left. Matt made us feel that he cared about us and wanted to be sure that we would have a great experience. And we did. As for the tour itself, the van was clean and comfort. He provided binoculars, a viewing scope, and a nice selection of snacks and drinks. We used Buffalo Roam for a 1-day tour of Yellowstone for our large family (10 adults, 10 kids) and they were fantastic! They planned a great route for us that hit all the highlights with plenty of wildlife (and excellent bathroom stops for the kids). Steven expertly fielded questions from 3-10 year olds as well as adults for a full 8 hours. He was very well informed and we found the tour entertaining and educational! Our family of 4 went on an all day trip through Yellowstone with our guide, Tony, this past summer. He was amazing! He was very personable and shared lots of wonderful knowledge that both the kids and parents enjoyed. Tony was great at catering the trip to our interests while making sure that we saw a little bit of everything. Our guide, Karyn, was knowledgable about the history of Grand Teton and Yellowstone, the wild life, the vegetation, and more. The tour company listened to our requests for the tour, provided lunch, water, drinks and snacks - and as many bathroom breaks as we needed. This trip was so amazing! Al and Matt, our tour guides, were full of interesting stories, information, and knew where the best places to view and photograph the animals and the jaw dropping scenery. We saw a great gray owl, buffalo, elk, grizzly and so much more. The waterfalls alone are breathtaking. I would do this trip again in a heartbeat and have recommended it to all of our friends. We did a day at each park and were totally blown away at the beauty of these two national parks. Of course, our guide Tony Krusenbaum, made the trips come alive. Absolutely recommend Tony.
