My experience here has been terrible…read morewhen I first rented here it was under different management and it was great then but the people who are there now are terrible the security is not what they claim there is not onsite security around the clock they have someone who lives there but that lot is not monitored my unit was one of 7 units at least that was recently broken into the management never notified me about the theft they claimed they didn't know it had been burglarized and the manager there admitted she had not checked the lot after the thefts were reported to her and she wasn't required to check the units until the first of every month. Then after I moved what I was left with out of the unit they tried to charge me another months rent on the unit. I can't get anyone to return calls and I tried multiple times to contact the customer service line but the reps there are no help and I have tried to contact the district manager Fred Leonow and cannot get a response from him either. Then one call I did receive from public storage they called at 845 pm held the line and never responded when I answered the phone I am out thousands of dollars in property this company never even offered an apology and they have been no help in trying to resolve the problem and the insurance they force you to take is a waste of money as well. Don't waste you time money and energy on this place it's not worth it I definitely will never use any public storage again

Don, the owner was super kind and accommodating. I called from work and made arrangements to stop after work and give him a deposit. By the end of the day I had completely forgotten. I called the next day to apologize and see if the unit was still available. Don said something along the lines of "Honey, my father taught me to trust a man until he gave me reason not to. You just come pay me when you are ready, I'll hold it for you!" About 2 weeks later I called and sure enough he was still holding it for me! I should have known something was wrong when I realized a confirmation email was never sent, which I requested. The operator curiously asked me why I would need a confirmation email, but nonetheless assured me one would be sent. It never was. Yesterday, I receive a phone call from Rollins, four days prior to my move. A voicemail was left to call them back. Despite the obvious urgency of this phone call, which at the time I was unaware of, the voicemail did NOT inform me that they would no longer be able to move me. Rollins called me again today to deliver this abysmal news. No compensation for the severe inconvenience was offered. "Sorry" does not amend this situation in the least. Luckily, I found another mover, but for $300 more and one day after the date I intended to move, thus further exacerbating an already stressful situation. Avoid these flakes. Shame on them.

It has been a little more than a year since I started leasing a 10'x10' storage unit at the…read moreSpringfield, Ohio location. The first 3 months were pretty good, but it went downhill from there. This location has issues with rodents and bugs. On two occasions we found mouse droppings on the floor of our storage unit as well as on our possessions. Management set a trap and within a few days one mouse was caught in our unit. The mouse droppings have continued ever since. When the automatic lights turn on in the hallways it is common to see bugs scurry and hide in the nearest storage unit. Disgusting! The rent has MORE THAN DOUBLED over a year's time. If you rent from this place you can expect to received rate increases every several months. My most recent rate increase was $60.06. This is outrageous for this facility. There are other climate control facilities in the area for substantially less. My biggest concern is that numerous times when visiting after hours, we discovered that the doors had been propped open with no one at the facility. ANYBODY could walk right in and attempt to break into the individual storage units. I am 100% dismayed. I strongly encourage prospective renters to look elsewhere unless you only intend to rent for 2 or 3 months, you don't mind mouse droppings in your unit, and you enjoy having bugs crawl all over your belongings. The building was locked, a FedEx notice was taped to the door, and no one was around. I called the number listed on their website and explained to their customer service rep what the problem was. She tried selling me a unit over the phone. I explained to her; I will not enter into a contract on a unit sight unseen. And I expect to be shown my options, in person. After being placed on hold 3 different times while they tried to locate their employee, I hung up. I don't appreciate a business using up my lunch hour for this type of non-sense. Extra Space Storage should have more than just one person working in their office.
