My husband and I were looking forward to buying a mattress about as much as we do looking for a car. We went to Sleep Number because my mother and father-in-law had bought one 8 years ago and still rave about it. We bought a mattress13 months ago from a reputable brand, and it was already miserable to sleep on and the warranty had already expired. We went on Saturday night about 45 minutes before closing time. Jacob was the sales person with whom we worked. I'll say our "sales job" radar was up going into the store, but never once did we feel that he was trying to sell us something we didn't want or upgrade us to a model we didn't need. He went through our lifestyle, how we can adjust the bed according to what we do (lots of physical work vs regular life at a desk job) and other factors that affect our sleep. We walked out thrilled as can be with our buying experience - me even more so because Jacob took a significant amount of time to help me find the right pillow. I was at the Park Meadows mall yesterday, went to Purple first, then to Sleep Number. One of the sales people in Sleep Number was checking a customer out, and two other sales people were helping customers testing out beds. We tested beds on our own for about 15 minutes. The guy who was at the checkout finished the transaction, and started to head our way, he greeted us, and right at that moment one of the lady sales people, jumped up and came over and told him in front of us, very rudely, that he needed to go help another couple that literally JUST WALKED IN. They weren't in the store for more than three minutes. He tried to tell her we were there first, she interrupted him and told him to go help these other people. It was so rude, I would never buy a bed from this store, and she should be coached on her customer service skills and how she treats the employees she works with. Let alone now losing a customer who was going to spend $5,000 on a mattress but will no go to another store. When this happened I responded and said it's fine we are leaving and walked out. I will NEVER go back. The customer service in Purple were bending over backwards to help me and were extremely friendly. My kids were with me, witnessed the entire thing and they were like mom that was so rude why didnt you say anything, I said I am not going to treat her how she treated us and we just wont buy our mattress here. After 5 years of sleepless nights from an overpriced mattress my wife and I decided to make a change! She did a ton of research on sleep number and I did none! We stopped in on a Saturday morning after brunch to "window shop".... everyone knows there is no "window shopping" after brunch! I was not looking forward to this shopping experience having recently visited other mattress stores where they treated us terribly and then begged us to put even a dollar down to reserve the sale price on something we didn't even like! Just inside the door, we met Jim. He took us from mattress to mattress explaining how the technology works and all the features and benefits. As soon as he hit my sleep number (55) I was SO ready for a nap... keep in mind we had just come from brunch but I'm pretty sure that was not the only reason for my level of comfort! After just a short time and 3 beds later, we had fallen in love with the perfect one, P5! From there, super simple transaction! Jim set us up for delivery just 6 days after purchase. I could go on for days about how amazing our sleep has been lately and how absolutely wonderful our sales person Jim Mince was but I think you should experience that all for yourself! Ask for Jim when you go in! Delivery... I received emails on updates the entire time and was curious in the final email where they said setup up may take up to 2 hours. I mean, I was prepared to make the drivers lunch after their efforts. The morning of delivery they called 45 minute prior to arrival saying they were arriving in 45 minutes and they followed all of my entrance instructions to access our condo. Set up took 20 minutes from the second I met them at the truck to the second they loaded our old mattress to haul away. They took time to inform use how the SMARTBED (in all caps because I can't believe we now have a SMARTBED) syncs to our phones and Fitbits. They were so pleasant and even took the time to say hello to our pets. Today Jim called to see how we are sleeping... I mean who does that?! WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE !!!!! I have owned sleep number beds for the last 30 years and because of recent multiple surgeries it was time to upgrade my mattress. Because of a plethora of health issues I have stayed loyal to Sleep Number due to the ability to adjust the firmness of the mattresses. When I went down to the store and spoke with the sales person I was very adamant about the details of the return policy and number of nights I had to try it out. Unfortunately, the bed did not work out, and while I was aware that the $199.00 delivery fee was not refundable I was never told that there was another $199.00 return fee and then a return fee for the mattress pad and a return fee for the remote and on and on. When it was all said and done my "free" 100 night trial cost me close to $500.00. If that wasn't bad enough they wanted to up sell me to another mattress for $1200 plus and it didn't even come with a "trial" period, so I wouldn't be able to return it. The store refused to help with any of the return and their customer service department in Minnesota was one of the worst I have ever dealt with. I made over a dozen calls and spent over 3 hours on hold trying to get what was left of my money back! Well then Chris maybe you should train your employees better because when they are asked POINT BLANK about your return policy and THEY LIE what is a 30 year customer suppose to believe!!! read more

Have to agree with other reviewers. Their sales staff was not helpful and had no interest in attending to us. Given the number of other retailers willing to bend over backwards to help us this was a less than amazing experience. As always if a company is this inattentive when selling you their product, what must their customer service be like when dealing with issues? Update: Ended up buying a comparably priced mattress from a different retailer an hour later. read more

Do not come in here unless you ACTUALLY plan on buying a bed the same day..we went here to test out a few beds and a new pillow but the sales people didn't seem to want us in there it seemed as If we were kicked out.. Very rude especially while were pre tax refund shopping.. How are you supposed to keep a repeat customer (my sleep# is 10 years old and needs replaced) if you don't treat them with respect just because we said we weren't buying anything today ?? Very disappointed as we have always had great service and were treated with respect...I may even call their corporate to let them know how we were treated...if we can't lay on a bed and try it a few times why would we buy it again?? We have owned 3 Sleep Number beds in the past 15 years. We again decided to update our current bed which is 8 years old to a new Sleep number 360 Smart bed, which I would say is a far from being smart. We have owned this bed for approximately 2 months and we have had to replace the pump once and the control unit twice, with no avail and it still doesn't work. After the last technician came out last week he informed us that there is a nation wide problem with the control unit that comes with the bed (which you have to pay for $39.00) that makes it go offline. We installed the recommended App when we bought the bed that currently stopped working when it couldn't recognize the bed controls. After many calls to the Park Meadows location and regional district office in Minnesota we got know where with what was really wrong with the bed. Finally the last technician came out and helped us install a different app to control the bed functions. I am totally amazed at how little the employees and managers (including Park Meadows) know working for Sleep Number Beds. We will never purchase another bed from this company or location. I've had my ups and downs with sleep number since I purchased my bed about two years ago. First let's start with the technology, amazing... monitor my sleep patterns yes please, heat and cool my bed with dual temp yes please (the best feature of all), and lastly adjust my bed as we want on both sides with a split king yes please! Now I spent about 10k on this bed blew me away that it was going to cost that much once the sticker price set in about a year after... I was extremely frustrated at first with all the problems with dual temp and setup not to mention almost two months for delivery. I was really regretting the purchase of this item especially with the extreme price tag. However once all that was figured out with customer service and getting all the issues taken care of. Let me say two years later I still get the best sleep EVER all the features are still fantastic! The customer service side is fantastic! I don't even have to call I can just chat over my smart phone... sweet! So I will finish this by saying any issues I have ever had were fixed and addressed sure it took time but it's well worth it in the long run. The purchasing process was so easy and the sales people very knowledgeable about their products. Customer service is the best part any issue and they send me replacements asap with out issue or questions. I am truly blown away that once the price issues were over it has turned out to be one of the. Eat purchases I have ever made. Thank you for a truly wonderful product! read more

The bed is fine except the sheets you have to buy rip almost as fast as you can unbox them. Returned the first set for a new pair and was told that they should not rip... the second set ripped just like the first pair. The bed knocks when you sit on it and the install crew refused to come back within five mins to fix or adjust the bed, and we were told to call customer service... 45 min wait to get ahold of CS we gave up. Called back again after the second set of sheets ripped to find out our options to return or exchange the bed and beware that you can NOT return the base if you return the mattress. Its an accessory and you are stuck with it even if you return the mattress... So that whole 100 night love it or return it guarantee isn't what they script their sales agents on in the store. VERY DECEIVING sales tactics and when that's half the cost of the bed it makes it impossible to do any sort of return. We spoke to a customer service rep, and she was also very deceiving with how you go about doing a return... our options were to accept HALF of what we paid for the bed ( as the base was $3000 of the purchase and not returnable) and pay $199 for someone to come pick up the bed or mail back a king size mattress for $29 to get the labels. Mind you, that you will have to package up a king-sized bed and figure out how to ship it back. When we asked about the sleazy sales tactics, she was very well scripted to say well you should have read your terms and conditions of the sale... Bases are considered accessories and that they are FINAL SALE... Well, I get that but never was it disclosed the base was an accessory to the bed as it's REQUIRED to operate the mattress. With no options left we spoke to a manager that was much more inclined to find a solution and less combative the CS rep, however, we are stuck and entirely will share our story of how the sleazy Store manager sells beds and how this company treats customers with FAKE return policies and combative customer service.... and yes all this stemmed from sheets ripping...
