Had mild sleep apnea and was a candidate for a dental device to correct the problem. Fitting took several appbut finally got the device. Insurance covered cost and I purchased coverage in case something happened to the device. As I finally found the correct setting, it broke when I dropped it while preparing a cleaning solution. I was asked to take a picture of the device, submitted and was told it would be replaced in about a month.While waiting, I threw the broken device out. Now I am told the won't replace without having the device. I was never advised to keep the broken device and now replacing would be over $2500. Not sure whether it's SBA, their insurance provider or both but there is something very wrong here. A day after posting the review I got a call from an Operations Manager with SBA. She profusely apologized for my treatment and said it had been a mistake which she was investigating and was correcting so I would get my replacement device. Multiple problems with communication both last year and again today. I've called multiple times and though they say they will return the call they don't. After multiple reminders of today's appointment I learned just before I arrived at the appointment they called to say they had double booked and could not see me. I've been wearing the oral appliance for some time now and I've noticed a huge difference in how I feel when I wake up. I feel way more rested and my girlfriend says that I am no longer snoring so she feels more rested too! This thing is a game changer. I THINK Sleep Better Austin helped my sleep apnea, but I'm not sure, because they do not tell you that after they have determined the best oral appliance for you, you need not one, but TWO more sleep apnea tests, to confirm their findings (one without the appliances and one with). If you have insurance, I guess that's no big deal, but if you are paying out of pocket, it's a very big deal! During the process, they use an application/device called Wesper to determine which oral appliances work best for you. When I brought up that the oxygen numbers were 6 points lower than my oximeter, I was told that it's not certified sleep apnea monitoring system so the numbers may not be accurate. Well, isn't that comforting! About the people who you will deal with. You will see a dentist for 5 minutes during your first visit, other than that it is obvious everyone else has marginal training and knowledge. They basically just use a script. Even when providing your results, they just tried to tell me what the best results were. Only when I demanded to see the data did they show me a chart with all of the test results. Of course, nothing was printed out and given to me. Frankly, for the cost, I expected more professionalism; you know like trained knowledgeable staff, accurate software, handouts with your results and telling people up front that you will need 2 more sleep apnea tests! read more

I have been calling them for months. I can never speak to anyone and have to leave messages. I had a tooth replaced months ago and I can't wear my device, because it needs to be adjusted or replaced. I was referred to Sleep Better Austin by my primary care physician. Took a long time to get an appt. Once I got an appt I found out they don't actually do sleep studies and they pass you off to another company. I took the test with the 3rd party company. I received the perscription for a cpap machine and was told results would be sent back to SBA. I waited. No call. I called. Come to find out SBA doesn't do anything with cpap equipment. They only cater to the oral device. I was told they would get me set up with someone locally who does cpap equipment and it would take up to 2 weeks max for someone to reach out to me. It has been almost a month and no one has reached out to me. I have left messages with SBA and haven't received a call back. Left another message today. Will update review as I get more details. As of right now I would stay away from SBA. read more

Scheduled in December @ the Georgetown office for 1 year follow-up with Dental sleep apnea device. The young lady who took me back was very nice, but, did not know how to use the the wrist blood pressure monitor and said I will check it later, which was not done. No big deal for me, I am on BP MEDS.Then inserted a metal mirror for pictures in my mouth and I started choking and had to pull her hand and appartus away from me. Very inexperienced and charged Medicare for the visit. I call this Medicare fraud. read more

Believe these other negative reviews folks. Went in for the sleep appliance consult and that was a mistake. Starting with the "clinical" staffer that did the talking. He promptly told me that my insurance would cover 100% of the appliance. So far, so good. Then 30 minutes later he asked me for my credit card. I said 'why'? He said it is just in case I don't show for an appt ($50) or don't return the test kit. I asked why did he tell me that before I started. He said 'quote'. I am just clinical - you will have to ask finance that. Yes, this "clinical" guy sold me on the finances in the first place but now, he bails out on a question challenging his earlier statement. My advice to anyone thinking about visiting Sleep Better Austin for an oral appliance. 1) Listen closely when they say "this appliance may move your teeth". Run when that happens and sign nothing. You want help to stop snoring or sleep better and don't let THAT is not part of the deal. You are not there to have an appliance that shifts your teeth. 2) Under NO conditions should you give them your credit card. I sent back the 'test kit' the day after I received it. (Completely unopened) using their return label. 4 weeks later I get an email saying that they did not receive it. Re-read #2 again folks. Do not give them a CC. When I went in for the final fitting the appliance was terribly uncomfortable. I had a hard time getting it out. I even asked what happens if I get a crown pulled off by this thing. (She told me that it was not covered - see other reviews on this). I told the young lady this and she said it would take a week or so to get comfortable. Yet, before being "released" you are asked to sign a statement that you are satisfied with the fit of you appliance upon leaving and there is a no money back guarantee. I told her that i was not happy with the fit NOW, yet why am I asked to state otherwise. New kid! God bless her. She has no badge to solve any problems. Final rant. You are asked to sign papers on an IPAD device. Get it in print before you sign anything. Get it in Print....first.....or at least before you leave. Not only your signature, but theirs as well. Read everything and make that clear before you sign. Ask "permission" to read and ask questions before you sign a contract. They won't like this because there is another sucker in the waiting room and this takes up their precious time. You don't sign anything that you cannot read first. This entire selling experience was well choreographed. Obviously, a commissioned and trained sales pro (ie. clinical cloak). read more

After purchasing a dental device for sleep apnea, I felt ghosted by this practice. They got into a habit of scheduling, canceling, and rescheduling, then, canceling, and rescheduling, then, canceling, and rescheduling. You get the picture, yes? I felt that the care was just not there, and never successfully used the device. By the way, it was very expensive, and now continues to be so as I'm dealing with jaw issues caused by attempting to use this device. I struggled with snoring for a long time, and eventually found some help with one of the over the counter appliances. They helped but caused my jaw to hurt so I decided it was time to see a specialist. I found the experience at Sleep Better Austin to be very pleasant. Everyone I worked with was professional, patient, and friendly. I love my appliance (I have the ProSomnus and it works!) Steer clear- the dental appliance this office made for my husband pulled out his new bridge the first time he put it on. After numerous calls and three days later, the office manager contacted us: * My husband's bridge must have been defective because the device certainly wasn't (contrary to our dentist's opinion after reattaching it) * Of course their office does not pay for damaged dental work. Remember that paper you signed? * I couldn't call you back before now because I had meetings * If you would have just stayed in the office someone eventually (direct quote) would have told us this * Oh yeah, even though you walked out without taking the device we're charging you full price- remember that other paper? * And my personal favorite, "I can tell you're upset because you're not hearing what you want to hear." 5 stars for the invaluable service they provide. Sleep apnea is an under-counted epidemic and takes a huge toll. If you snore you should get it checked out. Interrupted sleep is huge contributor to chronic lack of energy, heart disease, even car accidents from being sleepy on the road. Since I got my dental appliance from SBA my sleep has improved significantly, and daily energy a LOT. Have not even finished all the adjustments to the device yet, hopefully even better to come. The custom-fitted devices SBA provides are a lot more expensive than the off the shelf devices, but fit better, and are more comfortable and effective in my experience. Though I'd get one of the cheaper options if you can't afford the custom device - sleep apnea is a ticking time bomb for your health. It would be 5 stars, but communication has been an issue. My first appt. was rescheduled, but I did not get the notification (partly my fault, partly SBA's fault). But after checking in for my appt., I waited over 40 minutes before being told that my appt. was rescheduled! Not a great way to start the process, but thay have made up for it with a great product and service. read more
