After posting review, the Doctor called to follow-up and address their incorrect charge. I have been refunded the amount.

Came here early December 2025. I had gone to my OBGYN the day before going to Viks due to unnatural…read morebreast pain, swelling, & spreading redness. I left the OB completely freaked out (the on call doc when I went was absolutely awful) & not to mention, with no diagnosis or meds or anything at all. As someone who suffers from anxiety, I had a full blown anxiety attack for the next 24 hours. The following day I couldn't take it and came down the road to viks. Due to the intimate nature of my issue, I requested a female doctor but they told me they only had male; so I just took what I could get, not a huge deal. Front desk was fairly nice, filled out the papers, and they took me back fairly quickly. My doctor was Dr. Mcalasdair (apologies if i spelled that wrong). While I did originally want an ultra sound, he attempted talking me out of it. We went back and forth for a little bit but ultimately he said he was pretty confident he knew what was causing this, and while he didnt think an ultrasound was needed, he was willing to call their ultrasound person to come down and do it if I was adamant. I eventually caved and agreed to not do the ultrasound. Although he did make a little dig during our convo which I didn't appreciate (he said something along the lines of "I've been doing this for 30 years so I think I know what I'm doing). Please don't be condescending. Regardless of how long you've been in medicine, people are still allowed to advocate for themselves & their desires for their treatment. Anyway - aside from that, he was attentive and reassuring. However I've got to give it to the nurse - she really soothed me and my anxieties. She was such a sweetheart. She was maybe a middle aged lady with a British accent. She was so attentive, answered all my questions, checked on me, and when she could tell how nervous I was, she even brought me a little mini teddy bear with a viks shirt on to hold onto. No matter how old you are, little gestures like that really mean something, especially when you're scared. In the end, what I got was an IV in the arm with antibiotics. I believe it took like 45 min to fully drain. While I just sat there and waited, my nurse even brought me a heated blanket to make sure I was warm and comfortable. She was the best. They wrote me a prescription for an oral antibiotic but we were unsure if we were gonna make it on time before the pharmacy closed. On the off chance we didn't, they gave me my first pill ther so I wouldn't have to worry about missing a dose that night (in case we weren't able to get it until the next day). Thankfully we did make it to the pharmacy before they closed though. But that was really thoughtful. In the end, we ended up paying the ER price upon leaving. I haven't received any other bill in the mail so I can't speak on that experience yet... Also - the doctor called the next day to check up on me but I was unable to answer so he left a message. I called back the following day, but he wasn't busy with a patient so a message was taken. No call back. Called again the next day, he wasn't at the lakeway location, he was at another location. So I called the other viks location I was told he was at and they took a message since he was busy with a patient and told me he would call me back. He never did. I called again a day or two later back to the lakeway location and they gave me the same story and said they'd take a message but I told them I had already tried that multiple times and got no call back and told them I just wanted to speak to anyone on staff nurse or otherwise for them to answer my questions. So they put me on hold and I spoke to another doc I'm assuming, but not the one I saw, not dr macalasdair. This doc was pretty vague and dismissive with his answers. Basically it was like a couple word answers or "I can't answer that unless you come back in & we look at you again"...... mkay. He was unhelpful. Between the snarky response when I was advocating for myself in the room & the lack of call back and unhelpful response I got when I finally demanded to speak to anyone doctor on staff, that's why I took one star off. Otherwise, I had a solid experience. They fixed me and calmed my nerves at the same time. If anything goes awry with billing, I'll be sure to update my review. But for now, thanks for helping me!

I recently visited Vik's Complete Care after a severe fall while working in my closet and believed…read moreI needed immediate medical attention. Before going, I checked my Humana insurance, which listed this facility as a provider, so I arrived expecting to use my coverage. Once I arrived, I was told they do not accept insurance, which was very confusing and concerning given how they were listed under my plan. I was then informed that costs would start at around $800 or more, and according to the receptionist, they do not perform X-rays. Despite my insurance copay being $45, I was insisted upon to pay $800 upfront before any examination, without being seen by a doctor or receiving any medical evaluation. Due to the excessive cost, I declined treatment and left. The receptionist was extremely rude and dismissive throughout the interaction, which only made the situation worse. Being pressured for a large upfront payment before any care was provided raised serious concerns. Overall, between the lack of transparency regarding insurance, exorbitant pricing, and unprofessional behavior, I chose not to proceed with treatment and will not be returning. This experience left me very uncomfortable and concerned about how patients are treated here.

Doctor Ikbal is our family doctor. She's one of the best doctors I've met since I moved to the US…read more She's very experienced and professional, she listens to you and pays attention to every single detail. She was the first who detected my son's heart murmur. She also suggested that we change his diet. The results were amazing, my son has so much more energy, he's never tired now! My husband and I would definitely recommend Dr Ikbal to our friends and family!

Dr. Ikbal is shockingly misinformed about nutrition, pushing urban legends that were disproved…read moredecades ago. This is all the more astounding because nutrition was her undergraduate degree. She also doesn't appear to practice evidence-based medicine. After her asking me what I eat in a typical day, she asked, "Where do you get your protein?" (Ugh. The idea that protein is hard to come by is flatly wrong and severely outdated. As Dr. Nestle, chair of the NY University nutrition dept. said, *26* years ago "We never talk about protein anymore, because it's absolutely not an issue, even among children. If anything, we talk about the dangers of high-protein diets. Getting enough is simply a matter of getting enough calories." The DV/RDA is ~8% of calories from protein, while grains are ~13% protein, vegetables 23%, etc.) She then tried to tell me that I had to combine plants foods to get a complete protein. (That was an urban legend promoted by a popular 1971 book, whose author recanted ten years later. The USDA nutrient database shows that individual vegetables, grains, and beans have all essential amino acids, in higher amounts than what we need.) Finally, she said I should eat more fat. I asked if there were science to support the idea that an addition of fat to an otherwise healthy diet improves health outcomes. Her reply was like, "I've been a doctor for 20 years...." Meaning, no science. By the way, she asked why I chose her, and I said that one of her patients wrote in a review about how he was able to get off all his meds for Crohn's Disease. Dr. Ikbal replied that the patient took himself off the meds, it wasn't her doing. Anyway, after hearing so much misinformation in just a brief, limited interaction, I have to wonder what other misinformation Dr. Ikbal is operating on. If you want a physician who practices evidence-based medicine, you'll probably want to look elsewhere. UPDATE: After I left the above review, suddenly DOZENS of glowing 5-star reviews appeared within a few days, about 1/3 of which are from people not even in the Austin area, many not even in the same state, and many of whom have zero other reviews on Yelp. Yelp has understandably moved most of these to the "Reviews Not Recommended" section. Is Dr. Ikbal buying fake reviews? Draw your own conclusions.

She is very knowledgeable and always explains everything to my son and I as she is caring for him. My son loves her. The office is always so clean and welcoming. The staff is phenomenal. We feel so blessed to have such a wonderful doctor to care for our son. We have also been seen by the NP Kristen Campbell when Dr. Thompson hasn't been available. We love her too!! She is professional, knowledgeable and warm. On the rare occasion when my son has been sick they have everything in the office to check for flu, strep, COVID and they even have a lab in the same building which is super convenient. For sick patients they have a separate entrance and waiting room. They also have designated parking spaces where they can do testing from the car. The only issue we had in the entire time we were here was we were charged a co-pay that we shouldn't have paid but to be fair it was at the beginning of the pandemic and everyone was confused about how to bill for COVID. Once my claim was processed I was refunded the same day. I highly recommend this office! If I could give them more stars I would.

Now they are suddenly letting us have the 6th of 6 months of meds. Nothing has changed. They must have re-read their notes or something. They were in error with denying our pharmacy's requests for medication over and over again, since January 3rd. They should have given this matter more attention rather than just turning us away and saying no meds without an OV when an office visit wasn't even due. I had no idea until that a doctor's office could be so difficult. My previous review: Excessive appointments are required, and a lot of hoop jumping, before getting another 6 month refill for Quinapril. No matter if you were in their office just 15 days ago. Or at the cardiologist they referred you to. This has been a problem for a long time and I am finally switching doctors.
