After not hearing from the office for over 2 weeks, I called and was told that they had not received my coverage info from my insurance. I called back a few days later and was told the same thing, so I decided to call my insurance. My insurance said they had zero contact from Texas Sleep Medicine and immediately offered to call their office while I was on the line with them. The office staff said their benefits coordinator Mary Ann was out of the office, so my insurance rep left her a very detailed message explaining how they can call to verify my coverages and verify if prior authorization is needed. I called Texas Sleep Medicine back a few days later, which was now over 3 weeks since I had originally been seen by them, and found that they still had not done anything on their end to verify my coverages with my insurance. Today, I received an email from Ashley Hernandez that said they would be willing to schedule my sleep study without insurance for $700 if I would like to go that route. After they had not contacted my insurance for over three weeks, they were suggesting I go the cash-pay route for $700 rather than use the insurance I was begging them to contact for weeks. Waiting over three weeks simply to verify insurance is completely unacceptable, especially when my insurance has reached out to Texas Sleep Medicine directly to assist. Do not waste your time trying to work with Texas Sleep Medicine. Their office staff is completely inept and their office managers have no clue what is going on with their patients.

I came to leave a 1 star review and see literally everyone else beat me to it…read more How does this place even exist? First of all, a medical establishment is violating 45 CFR Sec. 164.524 like it is no one's business if they are ignoring their patients request for medical records as outlined in statute. People have a right to access their medical records; if patients submit requests IN WRITING (even if it is submitted through an online portal! that's still "in writing!") that they want medical records, and a medical provider ignores those (for more than 30 days)? That is a violation of federal laws. Dr. Durhon, you have a JD, you know about HIPPA. Second, why do you open a business when you clearly are not competent to run one? Know your skill set. There are plenty of medical groups you can join with a fully staffed business office. Unless none of them want to work with you. Maybe you are a mean dr, I don't know, my husband saw you, not me. I'm just the one trying to chase down his medical records because he gave up. But I don't give up. I file HIPPA claims with the OCR. Nobody should go here or refer patients here. If you are near them though, maybe just use their restrooms and do not flush.

The last time I had an appt, I vowed I would not go back given the apathy of the doctor and staff, but I had a lapse in judgement when I scheduled my next appt a year out. They care so little about their patients that a doctor retired, they closed their Austin office, and they didn't even contact any patients let alone the patients with upcoming appts. I'm not sure how a business survives with such little dignity, but I am at least delighted that they will no long be giving their lack of service to another Austinite.

They don't answer their phone ever…read more In Jan 2022 I was referred to Dr. Raymond for a nerve issue in my arm. It took a few phone calls before they answered but I was finally able to schedule an appointment. While scheduling the receptionist said something like I would be seeing the nurse practitioner and I had to stop and ask them what that meant. Turns out I was not actually going to see the Dr. Raymond and I would then have to come back in to see her. When I protested they gave me another date where I could actually see Dr. Raymond. Dr. Raymond was nice and thorough taking time to evaluate and explain things to me. The admitting nurse seemed slightly rude and did not have the warm kind feeling that I typically associate with people in the healthcare profession. It could have just been the vibe I got so that alone isn't a reason for a poor review. When they took my vitals they have an old style scale with the sliding weights, nothing wrong with that in general, but the scale is in the corner of a small room which means the nurse must stand inches from you to move the weights and take a reading. With COVID it seems like a little more distance would be nice. After she finishes taking vitals they then spray the room down with Lysol. Seems like a pretty big gap between the lack of social distance and then disinfecting the room. I was in again in early July for a follow up visit and they referred me to get another MRI. Once I got home I realized that they had sent the referral to a different imaging lab than the MRI I had earlier in the year. I tried calling them to see if they could get the MRI moved to where I had my first one just so I could avoid filling out as much paper work. I called several times and left messages before I was finally able to speak to someone in their office. The woman was nice and said she would check and call me back later that day. I got no call back. I have now been calling them several times a day for the past 2 weeks, left messages and nobody has ever answered the phone. I can't recommend NeuroAustin simply because they don't answer the phone. Even if I did recommend them it seems unlikely anyone would be able to book an appointment since they never answer their phone.

However, the office staff, particularly an admin named Josie, are simply incompetent. Two different times, Josie forgot to order the botox in time for the treatment, and I had to reschedule. She simply does not understand that people have to work and cannot get off whenever the scheduler feels like it! I left the practice and am very happy with my new neurologist. Two thumbs down for these folks!
