I knew nothing about the installed system and I needed someone to look it over. Heck, I didn't even know where the air filter was located. I called the night before after 7pm and the two gentlemen were available the next morning at 11. They went over the system, took out a filter dated from 2016(!) and replaced it with a brand new one. Did a thorough lookthru and declared everything otherwise okay. Since they were there, I asked to install a new thermostat to replace the one that was about 30+ years old. They put in a thermostat I chose off of Home Depot. They went to get it, came back and installed it quickly and efficiently. And for very fair prices. I was impressed and will definitely call again if there are any issues. BTW: I was chatting with them and they can do plumbing and electrical work too! Awesome!

We contacted them first thing the following day. They were supposed to return between 5-8pm that day to correct it. They did not come nor did they call & communicate they weren't coming. WECALLED THEM and they told us it would have to be the following day, same time. Again the following day no show. No call. WE CALLED AGAIN and they rescheduled to come the next day. They were called by our warranty provider this morning and they promised to contact us within that hour. We have passed that hour and no call. We have never been treated so unprofessionally by a service company EVER. This is beyond unacceptable. Second time I had them come out because my AC was freezing over and wasn't cooling the house. I paid the guy $375 for cleaning the outside unit and for coming out, but it was still hot in the house. After spending a few hours trying to figure it out, they said the problem was that different parts of the system were not compatible. They recommended replacing the whole HVAC system including the heater ($6500) or at least the coils ($2000). I got a second opinion and found out that the coils were very dirty and needed to be cleaned. My husband watched a YouTube video and did it himself. The AC works fine now.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON 2-10 HOME BUYERS WARRANTY OR AIRFLOW-- ABSOLUTELY AWFUL EXPERIENCE…read more If I could give 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty zero stars, I would. Our experience with 2-10 and their HVAC contractor, Airflow, has been an absolute nightmare and has cost us thousands of dollars. We contacted 2-10 in March because our AC was not working properly. They sent Airflow, one of their "trusted partners," to our home. The technician assessed the system and told us it was working. It was not. We had to wait until a heatwave for them to come back out and actually determine that there was a problem. This time, they said the compressor was bad. We immediately questioned that diagnosis. We had replaced the compressor only three years earlier, and a compressor should typically last 10-15 years. We specifically told them we did NOT want to replace the compressor again without determining what was actually causing the problem. 2-10 told us that the warranty would only cover replacing the compressor. We were initially quoted $900. After the part was ordered, we were then told the cost was actually going to be $1,200. By this point, it was June. We had a baby at home who was born in February, and temperatures were heading into the 90s and 100s. We did not want to spend the summer without AC, so despite our concerns, we agreed to pay the $1,200 and replace the compressor. LESS THAN ONE WEEK LATER, THE AC BROKE AGAIN. During another stretch of 90-100 degree weather, we called 2-10 again. Their solution? Replace the compressor AGAIN. We questioned this because, obviously, replacing the exact same component again after less than a week made absolutely no sense. My husband questioned the technician about why the compressor would fail again so quickly and whether there could be a deeper problem. The Airflow technician became aggressive with my husband for asking these questions. I then specifically called 2-10 and asked whether getting a second opinion from another one of their "trusted partners" would jeopardize our ability to seek reimbursement for the $1,200 we had just spent on a compressor that failed within a week. I was explicitly assured that it would NOT. So we followed their instructions and had another technician come out. That technician confirmed what we had suspected all along: THERE WAS A DEEPER PROBLEM. However, we were told that 2-10 would still only cover replacing the compressor. Then came the biggest scam of all. We discovered that Airflow would no longer replace the compressor or refund our $1,200 because we had allowed another company to inspect the system. Wait -- WHAT? We had specifically asked 2-10 whether getting a second opinion would affect our claim. They told us it would not. When we went back to 2-10, they essentially told us they couldn't help. So we were left out $1,200, with a broken AC, and no resolution. We eventually stopped dealing with the warranty company and hired an actual professional HVAC company to diagnose the system. Their conclusion? THE ENTIRE AC UNIT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. Which is exactly what we had been trying to get 2-10 to investigate from the beginning. Instead, we spent money on a home warranty that didn't protect us, spent $1,200 on a compressor we strongly suspected was not the real problem, spent the entire summer using window units, and are now paying $11,500 OUT OF POCKET for a new HVAC system. And remember -- we have a baby in the house. This is not just about bad customer service. This is about a company that we paid specifically to protect us from situations like this, only to have them repeatedly push the cheapest repair they could cover instead of addressing the actual problem. Here's what 2-10 and Airflow cost us: Months without reliable AC $1,200 for a compressor that lasted less than a week A summer spent using window AC units Countless hours dealing with contractors and 2-10 An $11,500 HVAC replacement out of pocket And an unbelievable amount of frustration We repeatedly raised concerns that the compressor was not the underlying issue. We were ignored. We asked for a second opinion. We were told it was okay. Then that second opinion was used against us. 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty failed us when we actually needed them. Airflow failed to properly diagnose the problem and then refused to stand behind the $1,200 repair. We paid for a warranty expecting protection and peace of mind. Instead, we got delays, excuses, conflicting information, an unnecessary repair, and a massive bill. Save yourself the headache. Do not trust 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty. And based on our experience, I would absolutely avoid Airflow as well. If you're considering a home warranty, please read the fine print and understand that paying for a warranty does NOT necessarily mean they will actually cover the problem when something breaks. 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty and Airflow -- you should be ashamed of how this situation was handled.

I wanted to cool a single large area with a cathedral ceiling and the first two company estimators walked through the area and checked the outside and gave a rough estimate with a BTU size for the air conditioner. They both took about five minutes each to give their quotes. No measurements or calculations, just an "eyeball" estimate. When Spencer Machida from Cooling Tower came he used a laser measuring device and a tablet to not only draw a floor plan with square footage but also calculated how many BTU's would be needed. He took into account the high ceiling and the square footage and gave me a quote for the whole job with a cost breakdown for the air conditioning unit and the materials needed and labor. His quote came in not only lower than the other two companies but he emailed me the cost breakdown and the pictures of how the outside of my townhouse would look with the installation of the piping and condenser. I was able to print these out and bring them to my townhouse association board meeting and got instant approval, since they needed those specs for their approval. I was able to schedule an appointment for installation with Spencer the next day and he installed the system himself the next week. One of the townhouse owners at the board meeting had been getting quotes for a split air system himself and I gave him Spencer's number. When I called Spencer the next day to schedule my installation, he said he was coming up later to do a estimate quote with the same owner. Later when he was doing the installation at our house, he said the other owner wanted to go with their company and was going to schedule an installation after he got solar panels installed first. He said the other owner decided to go with three bedrooms instead of his initial two. I guess the estimate quote Spencer gave him was much better than the other companies. Anyway now I am all set for the coming sweltering hot summer! I only wish I had done this years ago. My wife said I am so spoiled now that I want it on all the time. It is supposed to be good on electricity and I will find out the next electric bill. I very, very highly recommend Cooling Tower and Spencer Machida for a split air system.
