A friendly service tech came out at the end of January and fixed the problem for just under $130 and it's been working fine ever since. Skip the more well-known companies and use this company for any HVAC needs!

Knowing this was going to be a costly endeavor we looked everywhere - yellow pages, internet, calling friends for recommendations, etc. We came across this HVAC company in Manassas and were drawn to them because of a guarantee they had. They'd waive the fee almost every company charges just to come and inspect the problem. The only "catch" was that if you didn't use Comfort Professionals for the need at hand you'd be charged the fee. Well that sold us. I called them, a technician came out, confirmed what we suspected (that the whole unit needed to be replaced) and they literally had a new unit installed within a week. Super fast turn around, great guarantee, people were friendly, competitive prices; what more can you ask for in an HVAC company?

He determined that our system required a new circuit board, which he said he would need to order but should be able to install it earlier in the ensuing week. We agreed; so, Mr. Moreno bypassed our current circuit board, which allowed the system to cool the house but would force the system to run continuously until the board was replaced. When we asked about the impact on our electric bill, Mr. Moreno told us not to worry because the system uses very little power. He also reiterated that he would return the early the following week to replace the circuit board. Mr. Moreno then advised us that the AC unit outside needed to be flushed. He warned us that without flushing the unit, the next circuit board would be damaged as well. He quoted a price of $175 to flush the system. Again, we agreed. We gave Mr. Moreno a check to cover the home warranty deductible plus the $175 to flush the AC unit. Once Mr. Moreno flushed the AC unit, he, again assured us that he would return the following week. On Tuesday, the following week, I followed up with Mr. Moreno. He advised me that he was still waiting on the circuit board but expected it to arrive tomorrow (Wednesday, 24 May 2017) and that he would call me back then to schedule a time to install it. Not having heard from Mr. Moreno, I followed up with him today (Friday, 26 May 2017). I left him a vm letting him now that if he did not install the circuit board today, we would be seeking a refund from the home warranty company. When Mr. Moreno returned my call, he told me that he just had not had time to pick up my circuit board but would do so today then call me to schedule a time to install it next week. I advised him that he must complete the service today or I would follow-through on seeking the refund. Mr. Moreno immediately asked, "Refund for what?" He continued by protesting that we should not be worried about our electric bill because the system was not using that much power. When I stood firm, he asked, "Are you the homeowner or the tenant?" I replied, "What does that matter? You've been paid to render a service you did not complete. I will get my money back and the work myself if need be." After going back and forth, Mr. Moreno finally told me to have a "good day" then hurried off the phone.

One of their service staff came out due to an issue and recommended we install a replacement AC unit. OK. It was scheduled promptly, though there was an error in the quote. Came out on Friday and replaced the unit. Took 8 hours for a condo unit install. No one bothered to warn us of the time required. It was installed wrong and the unit did not work the next day. We called the answering service and left a voice message with a person, but no callback for days. Called again, and finally, a callback. An exceptional employee came out immediately the next day and properly diagnosed the installation problem. Another 3 hours of my time. I asked said employee (who called me the next day to confirm all was working properly), and I requested she ask the manager to call me to understand why the issue of an improper installation and the lack of a timely response. After one week no callback. When I did get one today, it was by the office manager to say the Ops manager had been out sick. I asked why the owner could not call, as they promote it being a family business. Was told they don't do that. Well, we will now switch out the service contract from them. All for the sake of a 5 minute phone call. Who cares? Not the owners!

This past week we had a part failure on our heat pump, and Mike personally walked us through various troubleshooting procedures over the phone before coming by to examine the unit in person. He ended up ordering a replacement part, coming back the next day and spending over an hour installing it and ensuring it was working properly. And for all this work, four years after installation? No charge at all. Mike has been in the business for years, and genuinely sees his customers as valuable, long-term relationships. It's borderline incredible that in an era where seemingly everyone in the universe is out to nickel and dime you for every little thing, people like Mike are still putting in the work. When I first tried using my heater this season, I realized it wasn't turning on. So I first called This big highly advertised company. Huge mistake! It took 2 weeks before they could come to my house, and they diagnosed my problem and estimated cost was going to be $930!! So guess what, I told them I'd get a second opinion...In comes Twin Air. I called Twin Air as soon as the other technician left my house (which was Friday at 3pm)and they sent someone (Jeremy) to my house ON THE SAME DAY just 2 hours later. Jeremy diagnosed the problem similar to the first guy's diagnosis (faulty circut panel). But the cost was only $300! (1/3 the cost vs. the other place). Clearly, Jeremy knew what he was doing. He did some digging and learned that my heater was still under warranty (a detail that the other guy missed even though I told him my heater was fairly new), which is why the cost was lower. He was also able to come the next day to repair my heater, but unfortunately I was out of town. So instead, another guy, Jose, came by Monday morning and my heat is back on and completely fixed in less than an hour! Twin Air, I learned, also does plumbing. Jose was able to look at my plumbing issues as well and is going to give me an estimate for the repairs. I should've gone with Twin Air from the beginning. Sometimes it's just better to go with a smaller company. They guys here were very professional and just nice to deal with. Next time, I know better...Thanks Twin Air!
