Now the previous evening, my husband contacted a large local competitor to check our HVAC system. Technician from local competitor came out and looked out HVAC system, didn't test any components and stated "our compressor was locked & leaking refrigerant and quoted my husband $6k to replace it or we can purchase a brand new HVAC system for $25k!!!" (NOT TRUE!!!). The tech even left our outside power switch unplugged so we couldn't test the system!! SMH!!! We won't contact them for any service ever again nor recommend them to any neighbors, friends and family!!! Joe K, Service Technician at HVAC Direct Heating & Cooling contacted my husband within 20 minutes of him contacting the office the next business day and scheduled a visit that evening. He came out to the house, checked the compressor and quickly diagnosed the capacitor as the problem & replaced it. And Joe K. even showed my husband how he diagnosed the capacitor as the issue NOT the compressor leaking refrigerant as stated by local competitor!! No refrigerant leaking at all!! Compressor in good condition!! In addition, Joe K., checked the wiring, fan, all associated parts and cleaned our a/c unit. No issues at all!! Just some cleaning needed!!! HVAC in excellent working condition AGAIN!!! In addition, he checked our furnace, cleaned some our internal components and showed my husband some DIY things to do to maintain our HVAC system throughout the year!! Sines inspected my very old furnace and found two big cracks that were leaking carbon monoxide into my home!! I know now it was affecting my physical, mental, emotional health! Sines replaced furnace and also solved another problem -- rescued cat had peed in the vents (registers?). Other companies would clean, but not replace ducts. Sines replaced several ducts. Furnace and ducts were taken care of quickly and at a surprisingly reasonable cost. The HVAC workers were polite, personable, efficient. Wonderful service! Cannot recommend Sines and Sons enough!

They cleaned it out and it worked for a year. Then it failed entirely and they gave me prompt emergency help despite it being the weekend. I had them replace it with a new heat pump version. He also called a relative while at my place and on the way home to give me their suggestions on dealing with the smell, which has nothing to do with HVAC and is above and beyond in my opinion.
