I came here back in September and loved my experience so I returned to get my nails done for Halloween. Tim did my nails this time and he filed my previous gel off instead of soaking them off and continued to file my nails a lot once the color was off as well. I liked how my nails looked and thought nothing of the filing since my nails looked long after my appointment and I assumed he knew what he was doing. Hours later I realized how weak my nails were, they went from strong to bendable. I came in on Thursday and by Sunday my nails were breaking on the sides, too far down my finger for me to just clip. I had to trim all my nails in order to get them to not fully break, but the damage was already done on 4 and the pain that came with it was terrible. He ruined my previously long and strong nails. It's been weeks, I'm still dealing with the damage and will have to for a while. read more

This vibe of the shop was so cute and is a perfect place to truly feel like you are treating yourself! And i absolutely love love love my nails! And yes they're so short but when I telll you Lucy simply revived the jagged appearing way my previous old gel set looked. This is by far the BEST short gel manicure that I've gotten. I mean her attention to detail was amazing. When I saw the previous photos of other clients work I knew I would be in good hands here. Loved it. Started right on time with the pedi first since MK was with a client. Once we got to my full set I showed him a couple photos and we talked it through enough for me to feel comfortable. I had something specific in mind with minor tweaks. I made an appointment for luminary builder gel from a family friend recommendation on this establishment. My hopes were high walking in seeing the cleanliness of the place and the nice looks of the place. It's been a couple years since I've gone to a salon because of poor past experience and was hoping because I was recommended here it'd be better. My cuticles were torn up and it felt like dull clippers were being used. The application of the luminary gel was okay but felt too rushed and like attention to detail wasn't being shown. When it came to shaping my nails I noticed after the service that she had cut and filed my nails past my nail plate. This not only caused me pain during the service but even days after just simply washing my hands. My design wasn't complicated just a simple French tip and I didn't feel it was done to the technicians best ability. I also got a gel pedicure done that was underwhelming. The technician only asked if I wanted length off but didn't ask how much so I was still left with nails that were longer than I wanted. And weren't cut straight. The application was better than my manicure but the edges of my nails were also left very sharp not filed down. Now because I haven't treated myself to this in a long time I was excited and joyful after the service and still left a great tip to both technicians. But I will definitely not be going back and just continuing to do my own nails from now on. read more

The artwork is good! My girl was always Carol. I'd go to her every 4-5 weeks. But my last appointment, it was upsetting as I had requested an appointment to be at a certain time, an hour before the appointment, they requested to push it to a later time. I arrive to the time that was suggested and I still waited for over 40 minutes. Someone came in after me and was seated immediately. I approached the front desk just to let him know I can come in at another day. Then the response was "come sit" and he sat me down. The service was rushed, but what made it worse was when carol and the front desk receptionist were talking about me, I was facing the tv, they turned around to look at me, turned back around and laughed. As someone who would tell everyone to come here, unless you want to be dismissed, be my guest. But I never came back because I thought they were more professional. Communication definitely needs to be worked on for future clients who aren't told anything. read more

Love love love this place! I found this place a few years ago and have never looked back. I literally drive 40 minutes just to get my nails done here. I have gotten my nails done by almost everyone who works there and they have never disappointed. It's always clean and feels very high end. My daughter and I are in town for a soccer tournament and we were looking for a low-key activity to do together after a big day of multiple soccer matches and a big win. Slay Me Nails was great! It was one block away from our hotel and already had excellent reviews. My daughter got color on her hands and toes and I had a mani-pedi with gel. The team was courteous (spoke mostly English, even to each other, in front of us), gentle, and did beautiful/detailed work. We love our nails! The only reason this is not 5 stars is because we had dinner plans with my daughter's soccer team and we didn't want to feel stressed about the timing so I called ahead to ask if there was a wait and was told there was no wait but we ended up waiting 15-20 minutes. I would have preferred an honest answer so I could make an informed decision and be able to relax more while getting the service. In the end, it worked out and we made it on time to the team dinner. I don't usually write reviews but I'm just extremely disappointed. I've been here twice & this is definitely my last. I don't want to use any names but I'm sure they can figure out who the tech is - I made an appt the day before & got asked to come in earlier which is fine. I come in 8:40 & walk out the door at 9:05. I was given a 25 minute gel pedicure for $55. Was the pedicure bad? No, but it was basically a polish change for $55 which is EXTREMELY unprofessional. I don't recall the cuticles being cut or really any of common clean up besides removing the polish. I didn't get the option to add callus removal, massage, etc. I could tell the tech just wanted to get it over with & rush me out. & once you're in the chair what can you do as the client you know? I work hard for my money & concerned the owner lets the business operate this way. If you want to rush through my service that I look forward to getting just cancel the appointment & I can go somewhere that will actually appreciate my business. Pathetic. read more

I really really wanted to like this place because of the close location to me, but unfortunately I had too many small difficulties that all added up to make me hesitant to go back. I went twice and both times the nail tech had the sanding tool on my nails too long and it burned one of my nails that I had to jump in pain. He quickly pressed down on my nail to stop the pain, but I wish it hadn't happened to begin with. The other concern was during my first time going, I had asked just for a "fill" of my original dipped nails like I get at my other salon but instead he took my nails off entirely to redo them and re-add tip extensions on. Plus I then had to pay for the full price of nail extensions with dip powder and gel manicure rather than just the fill. The liquid was also extremely hot and it was hard to keep my fingers in it. Finally, the main issue I had that stops me from going back was that the tips of my nails were not glued on completely so that I could feel the gap between the extension and the underneath real nail and it drove me crazy as I could "click" my nail on my real underneath nail. This led to me messing more with my nails and the glue then entirely popped off and the nails broke. I had hoped to try another nail tech to see if it was just one person's technique so on my second visit I requested a nail tech that is very recommended on yelp, but they ignored my request and placed me with the same guy the second time I visited, which resulted in the same difficulties and nail gap experience. Also then the second time my gel polish started peeling within a day of getting it done. I am sure if I had gotten the chance to return to fix my peeling nail, they would have fixed it, but I still felt for the price I paid I shouldn't have had to return within a day. It felt to me that he didn't leave my nails under the UV lamp for the full time, so perhaps one of the layers didn't entirely cure. I am giving this four stars because the nails themselves turned out very pretty and there are lots of wonderful colors to choose from. I also liked the check in procedure on the monitor and everyone is very nice at the location. It was a disappointment my request for a particular nail tech wasn't fulfilled and I just couldn't handle not having the nail entirely glued down both times I went. Perhaps in the future I might try again and request a different nail tech ahead of time. read more

Honestly I'm not happy with my nails. Yeah the nail salon was beautiful, not my nail outcome. I was here yesterday morning prepping for my bachelorette weekend. I was so excited to visit the nail salon, definitely left very disappointed . I wanted a specific of design, which is attached. what I received is completely different. On the clear nails you can see my natural nail, also you see the bubbles on my nails, overall not happy with the quality. Plus my nail tech Kristy cut me multiple times.I'm more mad at myself for not speaking up. Lesson learned. I end up paying $150 for these nails and a pedicure, so not with the price! I was in town for work so I decided to call and make an appointment for when I was done. They were able to accommodate same-day, just a few hours later. I appreciate that they sent a text reminder (you use that same cell number to check in when you arrive). They have free parking in the back. I was greeted immediately when I arrived. The salon was very clean and nicely decorated. I got a full acrylic set done. Square shape with a design (polishes were gel). My tech was named Amy and she was so kind! She was unable to do the initial design I requested but we compromised and adjusted. See photos for end result. I paid $85 for the set. They only take CASH tips, but you can pay for your service using your card (with a 3% fee). I believe they can also take tips via Zelle, Cash App, etc. I totally recommend this place to anyone residing or visiting the area (Downtown Riverside). read more

This past Saturday morning was my 2nd visit to Slay me Nails. I want to start by saying it is a very clean place, nice environment and the people are very nice. However this last visit I was having a Pedicure done by Lucy, and in the middle of the Pedicure she was cleaning up around my nails, she was cutting the side of the nail on my big toe and I felt an uncomfortable pinch, but didn't think much of it as it didn't feel excruciating. She finished the Pedicure and I notice the area around my nail was starting to turn red, again I wasn't in any pain at this point and figured being that she just worked on my nail it would be alittle red. We'll the next day the pain started to kick in and now my nail is draining pus. I was really starting to like this place, but I do t want to have to worry about my toes getting messed up each time I go in. I will probably be going elsewhere from now on. read more

I feel like everything I asked for they ignored it and did what they wanted. I specifically said a gel structure manicure I thought he was using acrylic but he kept saying it was the base. Turned out to be acrylic and just gel polish and they wanted to charge an arm and a leg. I looked like a crazy person asking a million questions not to mention why he kept filing my nails they were so thin the over assuring was getting me upset. When it was time to pay I said I didn't ask for acrylic in my natural nails. She said oh it's because they don't have the gel so this is the way they do it and it's the same. So over priced and have of them broke and cracked. It's a nice clean shop and for the most part they were nice. Just wouldn't come back. I prefer paying for what u asked for. read more

When I arrived, I was greeted by the manager, MK and his team. The shop is immaculate with a crisp elegance. I had called for an appointment time and just needed to check in on their touchscreen to choose my services and was then given my place in line. I love that not only did they have unique nail colors they also had options for gel, dip, chrome, ombré and acrylic options. Their pedicures offer a variety of treatments and their spa chairs are brand new and well maintained (they have a cleaning log to ensure everything is tidy). The location offers street parking in front of the shop and parking behind the building. I have been looking for a nice nail salon to commit to and this will be it!! I wanted to gate-keep this nail salon BUT it would be unfair to the nail artists here. These techs know what they are doing! We came in for pedicures and nail sets. MK did my nails exactly how I wanted them. The salon itself is very clean and well-kept. The women doing the pedicures wore gloves. The nail tools were kept in their sterile blue packaging. I am pleased at the attentiveness to cleanliness. The customer service was great! I called the front desk and they did a great job answering all my questions. When we arrived the front desk showed us a services menu and offered us drinks. Everyone there was respectful and so sweet. The prices are very fair considering the quality of the service and the tools they used. I felt they were very upfront about their pricing with their service menus.
