Visited on a sunday for some lunch.....it's a cool little place! Outside was charming, very much a country motif... food was outstanding and the service was great too.... we had a pizza with pepperoni and ricotta... came out perfectly cooked and tasted great..... good amount of toppings and the nice BIG pepperoni was a pleasant surprise. also had wings and the bbq slider trio.... wings tasted great(dry rubbed & oven baked not fried! Awesome) but could have been cooked a little longer to make em crispy... just my wife and I's personal preferance. Sliders were outstanding... had one each of chicken, pork and beef... all were great! Would have given 5 stars... the only thing I didn't like was they don't have any music playing for some added ambiance. Will definitely be back.... may even become a semi regular! This place is off the charts! Anyone who gives it any less than 4 stars is either out of their mind or trying to keep this place to themselves. The lovely bride and I shared the large platter and everything was slamming! Their salads are huge so I'd suggest splitting one to save room for the rest. We went here this afternoon and I was prepared to write a glowing review. The food was good, our waitress was very friendly, the location was cute and there was even a resident hen running around that had been bullied by the birds at a local farm and decided to make the yard around the restaurant her new home. It wasnt perfect, the poor waitress seemed to be constantly running, even though it wasn't very busy, and it seemed to take quite a while to get our menus. There was some sort of photo shoot (maybe for the owners family) and that seemed to be keeping people pretty busy. But the wait wasn't from lack of effort, so for me that is forgivable. The food was tasty, we got a BBQ pizza, mac and cheese, pulled chicken nachos, and the brussel sprouts. My son wasn't crazy about his mac and cheese, but that was more because he is a solid Kraft man and doesn't like real food. Other than that, we all enjoyed it. Unfortunately the last 5 minutes ruined the experience for me. It was such a beautiful day, we decided to eat our food at the picnic table they had outside. The patio was done nicely and there was a short, grassy hill right next to the table and we could watch the hen. My kids love running down hills and asked if they could run while we were wrapping up. At first, I said no because I didn't want them scaring the hen, but then a woman came out with a small child who chased the bird away, so I told my boys they could run down the hill while I was waiting for the check. They went over (maybe 5 or 10 feet from the table) and we're getting ready to run down. The woman (who seems somehow connected to the restaurant, maybe an owner?) came up to my boys and told them they weren't allowed to be there because that was restaurant property. She didn't say anything to me, despite the fact that I was only a few feet away, but scolded my children for running on the grass immediately outside the patio area. I'm sorry, but who does that? They weren't yelling or being obnoxious, they we're simply wanting to run around in a safe spot between the patio and the parking lot. I believe that if you are going to have a restaurant, your customers should come first and you should be hospitable. Yelling at kids for running on a lawn isn't acceptable. It's too bad because it seemed like a nice place. If you have no kids and want to stop by for a quick bite, you may want to try it. The waitresses were at least nice. But I won't be supporting a restaurant who's owners can't be nice to it's customers. read more

Slaters is a fun and friendly restaurant with excellent food! Everyone there is friendly. We have had Slater's cater a large business event several times and everyone always raved about the food. I loved the food also, but more important to me as the host is that Bruce, Paula, and their staff are extremely professional, efficient, and they do all the work. They check in with me regularly as the event progresses and always follow-up with me afterward for my satisfaction, and also they provide ideas and advice for the next event. We have also had them cater a college football tailgate (mostly food for the athletes) and they always come through with the best food and always on time. As much as I would love to give this place a good review, myself my son and my daughter have been sick for 2 days from eating brisket sandwiches there. We all were up all night with dysentery and vomiting. the food was cold and the waitress was less than attentive. We spent $90.00 there and we all agree we wouldn't eat there again. Terrible pizza and service tonight. I was told 45 minutes for the pizza and it was 1 hour and 15 minutes and then the pizza was both undercooked and burned. Top was a burnt but crust was doughy and undercooked. I've had good pizzas here before but this was awful. Update: husband called to say how disappointed we were but did not leave number or request a call back. Owner called a few days later and told us he owed us pizzas when we came back next and it sounded like he had many more calls to make. At least they know they messed up read more

Cool little pub type pizza/BBQ place. Very casual, easy going. Food was tasty, service was a bit slow but it was busy and the servers were definitely doing their best. Saw the sign at the intersection and decided to give it a try. Do not bother....I did not get served. Walked out. They only serve the locals. Wait people ignored me. Barkeep helped the locals who came in after me. When the cashier notice this, he went to her and I overheard her say she was too busy to take my order. Not great pizza, horrible service. Ordered a large pie for take out, they told me an hour and 20 minute wait. Ok fine, I called during busy hours on a Saturday and I wasn't starving. I get there to pick up and the lady at the register is chatting with her coworker. She turns, looks directly at me, standing in front of her, doesn't say anything and then goes back to chatting. When she finally finishes her conversation, I tell her I'm there to pick up and I hand her cash. She gets my change from the tip jar and then drops it on the counter for me to scoop up. She says nothing about whether my pizza is ready or not, and just goes off to do other stuff at the bar. I'm waiting for my pizza for a couple minutes and then she notices me again. Then she says to her coworker, "oh I thought you heard me ask for her order" when she never said anything to her coworker about my order. Low and behold my pizza had been ready and was waiting by the oven for me. Lady never said sorry or anything. Easily could have been in and out in a minute but it took 5 instead. As for the pizza... the crust was burnt in some places and horribly overdone on the rest. Not much in the way of sauce and cheese here, but you get your money's worth for toppings, which means your pizza pretty much tastes like stale bread with whatever toppings you ordered. I thought $17 was a pretty good price, but it's the relative amount of pizza because of its thinness, perhaps even less. Either way your money should go to better pizza and better service. read more

As a resident of the town I have been wanting to try this place since it changed it's name & primary purpose. We went tonight and although the food was tasty (I had the famous pulled pork, my wife had the chicken sandwich, and my kids had the mac n' cheese) the portions were very small and the prices were high. The atmosphere is strange - we couldn't find any tables that would fit all 4 of us so we had to spread out between two tables. The TV blasting the Comedy Central channel didn't help either - it was so loud that we couldn't hear each other even sitting at the same table. We wanted so badly to love this place to support a business in our town but sadly we'll still have to drive a few extra miles if we want something really consistent (ie: Not Your Average Joe's). We hope that with a few more months of experience that things will smoothen out a bit as they gain experience in being a sit down restaurant. read more

Have been by Slater's a few times before en route to/from Nashoba Valley Winery and overall it is a nice place. Today I went for the Sunday buffet-style brunch and it was my favorite experience thus far. They had a nice selection of fruit, yogurt and granola, bagels, asparagus, bacon, sausage, roasted potatoes and french toast. They also will make you a nice omelette with whatever you would like. Save some room for their desserts as they were the best! The pecan bars were great, excellent eclairs and they also had a jam bar. Total was $15 for the all you can eat buffet. We opted for additional $6 mimosas which were nice large pours. read more

After several experiences with slaters, I've come to the conclusion that I will get pizza from elsewhere. Food is very meh. Pizza is super thin, but not crispy. They are very stingy with toppings, and the price does not match up with what you get. Customers service leaves much to be desired. Was so excited when we moved to bolton to be near this "restaurant" only to find it is really not a real restaurant inside. Oh well. We'll stick to bolton house of pizza from here on out. read more

I've looked.Lots of Greek style pizza around here but not the wood fired Neopolitan style that I have craved since I was in Italy.Well look no further because the pizza you crave is right here in Bolton, right off Rt.495 on Rt. 117.They even do large pizzas and slices which is unusual for a Neopolitan style pizza place.The slices are really ample as well, a full 1/4 pizza.I also love the large pepperoni, that they don't skimp on.I really love the large pepperoni crisp from the wood fired oven.There are even pizza offerings with their slow smoked BBQ on top! The first time I ate at Slater's it was during the evening for dinner. It is a cute casual restaurant with a quaint pleasant atmosphere. The staff was very friendly. Service was a tad slow, but I didn't mind because I was dining with an old friend. I ordered the brisket and I was blown away. I had no idea that this area had a place with such authentic BBQ. It melted in my mouth with an amazing smoky flavor. My friend ordered the pulled pork and said it was very good as well. My second experience was very different. I got takeout for my family. Beef brisket for us, grilled cheese for the kiddo. My daughter wouldn't eat her sandwich and kept saying it was too "spicey". I thought she was just making excuses not to eat...until I tasted it. It tasted like it was made with garlic bread! For a kids meal? What were they thinking? And the brisket was very disappointing as well. Over 50% of the meat was pure fat and gristle. Even the meat itself was tough and difficult to bite through. My first experience was so good. What happened??? read more

Authentic and a-plenty. The bbq sampler plate is the perfect size. Ask for a side of cornbread with it! The Cubano is generous --I could make two meals out of it. This is the worst BBQ restaurant I've ever experienced. We did not see any smoking BBQ pit when we arrived. Therefore, I assume that the food is BBQ's elsewhere, and just warmed up on site. The baby back ribs were terrible. Two ribs appeared on the plate as an unrecognizable "lump". It was impossible to cut them apart. The brisket was the worst. It tasted like it was warmed in a microwave, and the grease tasted very old. It looked like a piece of leather on the plate. Our pulled pork sandwich was OK, at best. It was a terrible disappointment. It probably stays in business because it's the only pizza restaurant in the area. read more

Based on the earlier reviews, I thought this would be a nice little restaurant. It was a mistake to go here. No ambience at all. We stood inside the door waiting to be seated. Nobody seemed to be paying attention. We went to the counter to ask if we should seat ourselves and the worker looked around and said he would go get some more chairs as there were tables without chairs. After we sat down, nobody came to take our order despite the sign that said there was table service. We went to the register, placed an order and paid in advance. A few minutes later, the order taker came to tell us that they were out of ribs. My husband ordered something else which was $8 less, and the server said he would refund the price difference and bring back $8.00. Ten minutes later, my husband's meal was served. Twenty more minutes go by; I still have not received my meal, my husband has eaten his, and I remember the worker didn't refund the $8.00. I went to the counter to request it, and just then, my meal came out of the oven so I had it packed up to go. Between not having enough tables, enough chairs, or enough menu items, the staff seem unprepared to have customers. The food quality was okay, but overall, it was a truly disappointing dining experience. read more

Last month, while coming home from checking out Nashoba Winery, my boyfriend and I stopped at Slaters for lunch. I had read several raving reviews over the past few months, so I figured we'd give it a try. IMO, the reviews couldn't be more wrong. First, there were a bunch of kids in there making such a ruckus that we almost walked out before we sat down. We were both starving, so we decided to stay. We walked in an nobody came to greet us, so we just sat down. 2nd signal to run. Eventually we placed our food order with the woman at the counter, and both orders came out wrong. The pizza was undercooked to the point the veggies on top were still cold and my boyfriend's sandwich wasn't prepared as ordered. I mentioned it to the woman, and she said nothing. Just took our plates and walked into the kitchen. We brought in a bottle of wine from Nashoba and thought we'd have a nice lunch as I read they have a BYOB policy. We couldn't find any help to see if they had a corkscrew and glasses, so we finally gave up. The kids at the next table started running around and kept kicking my bag which was next to the table, knocking it over and spilling all the contents all over the floor. Then the two woman that were with the kids went outside to smoke, and left these little wildlings alone in the restaurant to ruin our lunch. Seriously? Paper plates and plastic silverware? And terrible chicken wings. I was in Bolton for work on a Sunday afternoon and needed something quick. The options were basically this place or Subway. I wish I had time to order a pizza. It looked pretty good. I got "spicy wings" because I love chicken wings. They weren't spicy, basically had nothing on them, and they weren't served with any sauce. The menu said they had a dry rub and were baked to perfection. The skin wasn't even cooked. They were flabby and weird. I paid like $13 for bad wings with a PAPER PLATE and PLASTIC FORK. That stuff is OK in all star BBQ joints. Service was slow too. She acted like I didn't belong there because I was wearing a suit. People in the woods have no food options so when ONE place opens up they probably think it's amazing. read more

I have NEVER been to a place where the owner was so rude and disprectful! He was so busy drinking behind the bar and yelling at his employees that he did not notice us trying to get his attention! Our server was great,unfortunately it seems she was fighting back tears. We called ahead for a reservation for 6 people for 5:45..the table was ready and we we're seated promptly...We ordered salads and they came right out,we also ordered 2 pizzas,one cheese and one buff chicken. The server checked in on us and let us know the pizza should be right out.She kept coming by to check in on us,at this point it had been an HOUR. SHhe was very apologetic and we understand that it was out of her control. After an hour and 15 min here she comes with our cheese pizza.She explains that the pizza is a little backed up and the oven can only fit 3/4 pizzas at a time. OK,no problem! HERE we are with 3 starving,cranky kids and another 25 minutes passed,still no Buffalo chicken pizza! The cheese pizza was gone before she walked away! Again this was not the fault of the server. The owner was helping with pizza. We heard our server repeatedly asking for our second pizza in which the owner told her " get out of my face" and" I really can't stand you"! There was no kids drinks but it seemed the owner found himself a nice stiff drink! I envy the girls who work there,I can't believe the level of disrespect I witnessed there two weeks ago! Went to this place about 9 months ago and our family was very disappointed. Decided to give it another try last week and it hasn't improved. My wife and I arrived around 6:30 and waited for 15 minutes for someone to come to our table. We went up to the counter and asked what the protocol was. Do we order here or wait for someone. They said "someone will be right with you". Waited another 5 minutes and let me tell you, this place wasn't busy when we arrived. Another family arrived and went up to the counter and the waitress took the order. We saw her write down their order and the family went to the table. Finally the waitress arrived and the first thing she asked us if we were having pizza? Mind you, this is a pizza place that also serves BBQ. We asked why? She said they might not have enough dough. What???? She said they should have enough for us depending on what we were ordering. We placed our order and then waited and waited, about 35 minutes. Meanwhile the family that came in after us received their pizza and pretty much finished before our 2 small simple pizza's arrived. We asked the waitress why the other family got their pizza's first and she proceeded to lie to us and made up an excuse that they "called ahead". Well, we saw the family place the order and the waitress write down the order. So something wasn't adding up here. The pizza's were not bad but also not worth the wait for sure. Their are much better choices around the area. No less than 10 minutes away is a place called Rail Trail flatbread in Hudson, MA where we have eaten 3 times over the past 6 months. We really wanted to give Slaters another try, but they failed to convince us it is a good place to eat. At Rail Trail, you get excellent service, beer from a tap (you only have bottle choices at Slaters) and a far superior menu and a much much better pizza. When you walk into Slaters, you will find minimal seating and the seating is in disarray. People walk up and just take a chair if they need one, even when you have a need for the chair. Its ridiculous. In the middle of eating a couple of guys came in with a big slab of rock to place on a fireplace they had. One guy was caulking while we were eating. They should be doing this stuff after business hours. If I am going to spend a high price for pizza, I don't want to be watching someone working in the restaurant on mounting a mantle on a fireplace. We have no plans to visit this place ever again. read more

Been here several times with my boyfriend, we love the pizza and the atmosphere. But we've been sitting at a table here for 12 minutes with absolutely no recognition from anyone at all. Table next to us is in the same situation, and they have two kids with them. There is no management whatsoever and only 2-3 employees. Totally ruined a place for good pizza. read more

This place is bad from start to finish. We had a party of 6 that was confused for a solid five minutes as no one greeted us or directed us to a host/table. Turns out you have to sign up on a chalkboard near the door without any expectation of how long a wait will be. When we finally got a table we felt completely ignored by the waitress. It took over an hour to get potato skins and this was only after we asked what had happened to the appetizer order. One of the people at our table ordered a second beer and the waitress said in a judgmental tone "you're a thirsty girl, aren't you" making everyone feel extremely uncomfortable. It felt like everything we asked for was inconvenient for the waitress. The food took well over an hour to come out. The $3 side of mac & cheese comes in the same small size cup that they put their BBQ sauce in. The pizza practically had no cheese on it. The chicken wings were undercooked. The $9 sangria seemed like it was just cranberry juice with cut up strawberries. The only good part of the meal was the actual BBQ sauce itself. We're typically a pretty laid back group but this place really rubbed us all the wrong way. None of us will be coming here again and we will definitely not be recommending this restaurant. read more

Stopped by on a Saturday evening after we saw the prime rib special online. The place was almost full with 2 large parties plus assorted smaller tables. The sign said seat yourself, and we did. We sat. And sat. And commented on the nice family atmosphere. We caught the eye of both waitstaff more than once, but nothing---no menus, no hello we'll be with you shortly, not even a glimmer of acknowledgment, it was as though we didn't exist. After about 10 minutes of being invisible, we got up and left. By then the owner noticed and as we were leaving asked us "didn't you get menus?" Well, we didn't. I know it was busy but it takes about 3 seconds and 6 syllables to say "Hi, I'll be right with you." I think the owner means well and it's good to support local businesses but I don't think we'll be trying it again anytime soon. Too bad, their pizza is good. read more

Just getting to this. We visited on the evening of 9/20/14. We arrived within 45-50 minutes before closing which isn't too bad in my opinion. We desperately needed to eat. Staff was horrendous and barked at us when we tried to order drinks due to having run out of various items and threw the menus on the table like we were the root cause of their problems. It had appeared they had a busy night, but decided to take it out on the customers. It was one of the rudest encounters I have had in awhile. Let's say we didn't stay for the meal.
