This place was a hot mess. Came in with a party of 6. Mass confusion while they tried to seat us, first outside on a tiny table that barely fit 4 people as it is, not sure how they'd fit 6 with drinks and food. Finally seated inside and placed our first drink order. We then placed an appetizer order of potato skins, requesting the meat on the side as we had a vegetarian in our group. An hour went by before we finally asked our waitress what was up with our appetizer. She said the kitchen made it wrong and she had to have them remake it with no meat. This is fine, but we waited 60 minutes before she decided to tell us this or give any sort of update, and only let us know after we asked. There was also a strange comment made to someone in our party about ordering a second drink and being a 'thirsty girl' - made everyone a bit uncomfortable with ordering another round of their watered down sangria. Mind you, this was after the waitress offered us shots the second we sat down. Finally, after over an hour of waiting, we receive our potato skins. And within minutes, also received our dinner. The waitress brought out everything except an order of wings, and asked if we needed anything else. Someone asked about the missing wings and the waitress - very annoyed - replied stating they were in the window right now and she will bring them right out. 10 minutes went by before the wings finally came out, so everyone else was well into eating before their meal was brought to them. The wings were 'grilled' (I use this word loosely) only on one side, and borderline undercooked inside. Also, the 3 dollar 'side' (or should I say, sample) of mac and cheese.. comes in a cup size similar to that of a dixie cup, the same size cup they use for sides of sauce. What a joke. The pizza also had almost zero cheese on it. Because of the hour wait to get the appetizer and being forced to eat it minutes before receiving our actual dinner, we asked that the potato skins were removed from the bill. The waitress replied with one word, 'Yup.' and walked away. No apology, no 'sorry for the inconvenience and wait', nothing. This place has a lot of great reviews but we felt nothing but a burden to the waitstaff. At least the spoonfuls worth of mac and cheese I had was decent. read more

We arrived at 3:30- nowhere near lunch or dinner rush. We ordered a pizza and got sodas. Wait for the pizza was 20 mins so we asked for some cups with ice for the soda. The waitress told us she needed to go downstairs to get ice. While we waited we decided to add a meatball sub. I went to the counter and waited 10 mins before any of the employees even acknowledged I was standing there- even though every one of them saw me standing there. Meanwhile the waitress finally appeared with the ice. After filling the cups she took my order. I specifically asked for extra sauce on the sub. The pizza came and it was Ok. Then came the sub... And it was awful. The bread was hard and stale, the meatballs were stone cold and barely edible and the extra sauce was non- existent. I actually threw the sub in the trash as there was no point trying to get the attention of any of the employees! When we were leaving my sister asked for a box as she had some pizza left. They handed her two paper plates and a brown bag to wrap the pizza in! So-so food, crappy service and high prices- no idea how or why this place is still in business. read more

I had to download the Yelp app tonight just to write this review. I will never go back. A couple that walked in behind me is already done their meal, and I haven't even received mine yet. Took 15 minutes to get to drinks, and one of them was the wrong one when they finally brought. The food was decent, actually pretty good. But it's not worth it to go back with that kind of service. There were two women handling four tables and it took 50 minutes for us to get a pizza! Not acceptable, even for a small Town USA hole in the wall. Shouldn't be that jealous of the other couple now, because they're done their meal, but still are waiting for somebody to realize, and by the looks of things might wait all night for that to happen. Have I mentioned that I got here almost an hour ago? All I want is one cheese pizza... I asked them to put pepperonis on half, do you think that's what's causing the 45 minute delay? I have to say the best part of the whole thing though, was when she came out with my second glass of wine in a small carafe and didn't give me the full pour- she didn't waste it down the sink either, she left it set aside on a counter-she's probably saving it for herself for later. That's professional! The worst part for me, is that I'm one of those 20 to 30% tippers, and I was tempted not to leave her a tip at all. I don't have that in me so I left her 10%, and I just can't feel badly about it. I work damn hard for the money I make, and if you want to make money well then try-try a little. I work in the food industry, and I was embarrassed for those servers. And you know the couple that came in after me, ate before me, and left before me? Well their table still hasn't been cleared... Its hard to actually give this stars..any amount is kind of decieving...went to Slaters tonight for the first and only time....sad to say because the food was actually really good. But like other reviews I have read on here (probably should have read them first) the service is beond horrible. First off the dont seat you, you can just walk in and sit down...who is watching to know who is new and just walked in? So we sat down, had to find 2 chairs, only table available had one chair..whatever...not a big deal......but it gets worse...took a while to get silverware (plastic) and napkins...Waitres (use that tierm lightly)came by asked us a bout drinks, then came back and we ordered an app....quesadillas were very good. But then it was like 30 minutes until she actually brought out the app, and them asked about meals...we ordered and sat and sat nad sat...had to be close to an hours wait for dinner. Ribs were very good, they were definitley hot, so they didnt sit around waiting for the waitress to finish texting her boyfrined or someone. There was a group of 4 that came in at the same time as us, had a different server, they had their food and were pretty much leaving by the time we got our food....it was not that busy, but the wait staff just doesnt seem to really care much. This restaurant was recommended to our group of five as a nice place for lunch. The building looked promising, and the pizza/bar area seemed nice. The place only had a few patrons but it took a while to be served. We weren't in any hurry but it still was a bit annoying. Three of us ordered the "Crazy Russian" sandwich, which was described as turkey "piled high" on marble rye with coleslaw and some type of dressing. What came out was a couple of thin slices of deli turkey, hardly piled high. The coleslaw on the sandwich was good, but I couldn't taste any turkey. We were very disappointed. Pulled off the highway for lunch during a long road trip and found delicious food and friendly, quick service. My son liked his cheesy pizza with its thin crust. We started our lunch with the small appetizer sampler with ribs, chicken wings and a pulled pork slider. All were hot and delicious, especially the ribs. Great wood-fired pizza here! Whole family loves it and the food is very tasty. We haven't tried the BBQ because we love the pizza so much, but it's definitely on the list to try. I love the pulled pork here but agree the price for a sandwich is a little steep. I wanted to try the brisket, but it wasn't ready when we ordered at about 12:30. I thought it was poor planning not to have all menu items ready for lunch. They also forgot the cole slaw the last time, so we had to go back. I often go to Slater's to eat and to do work. They have great brick oven pizza and the pulled pork is the best i have ever had. Also, it is just a cool atmosphere that makes me think about a ski lodge in Vermont. I find it very relaxing, they make great coffee, and the wireless works great. One of my business partners is addicted to the homemade chocolate chip cookies. Strongly recommend it everything about it so far! read more

This place has gone through a few transformations. The only time I went for brunch it was it's former owner/name that was not bbq. My mom made better french toast, and the wait was hilarious because there was only one other table beside us. I have since only gotten the pizza, and called it in beforehand. It is mouth-watering delicious (buffalo chicken to die for) but the bbq stuff is just mediocre. They should just drop the bbq, do pizza and adjust their prices just a bit. Very expensive for pizzas (compared to Sorrentos in Acton). If they just do pizza and advertise fresh ingredients (you can definitely taste it) I think they could do well. Redo the interior to make it more attractive. I just fear they'll lose their opportunity the longer they wait, and close for good. read more

OMG, I will do anything for the Margarita Pizza. I live about 2.5 miles away and my son and I ate a pizza before we pulled in the drive. Fortunate for me the wife was out. The crust is a little chewy, I like that. The tomatoes and cheese have a touch of sweet with a little salt, it works. I have not had much more on the menu but I am happy with what I have. read more

We first tried Slater's at the Hudson Brew Fest, it was so good, and lead us to order take out. We ordered pulled pork and wings, pork was so dry and chicken was undercooked. Extremely disappointed with the quality, especially compared to what we had at the brew fest. Another troublesome aspect we encountered was the inconsistency in prices; the website says one price and the over-the-phone price another. Waste of money, could have made better BBQ at home. Personally, this place amazed me. During my stay, I was passing through Bolton to get to Stow and came upon this wonderful place. Being as hungry as I was, I thought, why not? Walked in, sat myself, and was waited upon in just over 5 minutes. Waitress was very chatty and seemed to enjoy her job. Owner was eager to share what he thought and loved talking just as much as the waitress. Soon found out they were a father daughter duo! Ordered a four cheese pizza that was extremely well made, albeit a bit crisp. Had a great wine with it and was just a bit appalled at the noise level but could understand it was a Friday and most restaurants are busy then. Was in and out in a short time and did stop by a few days later to try the BBQ... which I LOVED. Sauce was a perfect mixture (not too spicy but had just enough). Recommend this place to anyone passing through or who lives in the area.! read more

We went on a Saturday afternoon, i always get a pizza and my boyfriend decided he wanted something different, so he went with the brisket sandwich, needless to say there was more fat in the sandwich then meat, i actually found it hard to believe that they would serve something like this, if it was me i would have sent it back,but then again the waitstaff seemed to be out in left field that day, well anyways he decided to dissect the sandwich and get all the fat out of it, after 5 minutes of doing so , i must say it was pretty pathetic how much fat was actually in that sandwich, i was amazed myself, so that will be the last time he orders a sandwich here, my pizza was fine, could have been cooked a little more but i would eat a slice or 2 and just bring the rest home and cook it and we definitely could have used a few more napkins, then again couldn't get the wait staffs attention so we eventually flagged someone down just paid and left, might just go back to Rail Trail where the staff is more attentive and things are more consistent in the kitchen. read more

Service was so horribly slow I won't be back. It took an hour and a half to get 1 pizza, 1 beer and 1 water-and this is no fancy place. It took a half hour for the waitress to come to our table for the first time-and there's no option to order at the counter. If there's a half hour wait, they should have told us. Instead they told us to choose a table and someone would be right over. A half hour with no service, no ordering or beverages when there was supposed to be no wait? Ridiculous. Then it took another 15 minutes or so to get a water and a beer. Eventually our pizza came, but with no plates so we ate off of napkins. The cheese was melty and there was a lot of sauce so a plate would have been helpful, especially since we were given knives and forks. Waitress did not come back to check on us, so we didn't ask for plates. We ate quickly, seeing as we'd been there a solid hour already. After getting the check and asking for a box, we were still waiting for the box after an hour and a half of being there, so we just took our leftover pizza on the serving paper and left. The place was not full either- plenty of empty tables when we came and we were the only ones in the whole outdoor seating area when we left. We had asked for a box twice and the waitress was cleaning other tables, although the place was so empty it could have easily waited. It would have taken a maximum of 2 minutes for her to walk back and grab a box for us so we could get going. If you want to take a solid hour to get a pizza, and then slow service therafter, this is the place for you. The food was good but nowhere near special enough to justify this kind of wait and poor service. read more

I don't know where to start. Where have all the staff gone? Not one familiar face. Not one smiling face. Everyone there looked like someone put a gun to their heads. I sat myself and my friend joined me about 15 min after I arrived. I had still not been greeted and there was ONE other table in the entire restaurant. I had visited this place every time I go out that way, as my grandparents live near by. This place seems as though no one cares about the paying customers,just about texting and arguing with one another. Everyone I saw was extremely aggitated! The nachos we ordered came with our drinks and they looked like someone sat on them. At least a quarter of the size they were last time I got them. The entire environment has changed. It was such a welcoming,inviting place to eat. My friend and I felt like we we had walked into some sort of a family fued. The girls I used to see every month were not there, Which is fine, everyone moves on...but ALL of them,around the same time. Last month there were smiling,familiar faces. This month angry,agitated new faces.Are the people on a prison work release program? I am checking for ankle bracelets if I ever go back!We left without ever ordering meals or receiving our bill. We had 2 beers. And and the nachos and left a $40 on the table. You can keep the change slaters, you obviously need it more than I do!!My grandparents warned me that the talk around town was that this place going downhill. I wasn't hearing it.
