I work in the uptown area so I'll come here sometimes. Usually my experience is decent the restaurant is clean and the food is good. Their service is always really fast. Yesterday I got some take out clam chowder and a coconut shrimp bowl. My bowl of soup was disappointingly sad. I didn't eat any of it before I took this picture there's very very little soup. The flavor wasn't great either. Hopefully it was just an off day.

For an "order at the counter" spot, Slapfish is top notch. It was easy to order online and pick up. Quantities are large. I loved the fish sandwich!

Clam Chowder- some of the best I've had!! Loved it!

Fast service and great food. The staff was quick to help and brought out my food quickly. Only weirdness was that there were a lot of dirty tables with no urgency to get them clean. Still will be back!

Variety of draft beers

The bowls were delicious! My cod was crispy and full of flavor. Granny's shrimp bowl was so good it was gone in seconds! One of my favorite things about this place is the variety of organic drinks by Tractor. They also have a good variety of draft beers on tap.

Lobster Roll

I have been going to Slapfish for about close to 4 years now. Delicious food. Servings were decadent. Take a look at my pictures, you'll see what I am talking about. Unfortunately, I will admit, I never got around to writing a review for them. It would have been 5 stars, hands down. But upon my latest visit, that is certainly not the case. They made a huge change to their menu. I will admit, I am not sure how long this change has been in place. I was with the work fam and here's how lunch went. I ordered Lobster and Crab Melt. I asked for truffle parm tater tots instead of fries. There was also a Lobster Roll with brussel sprouts instead of fries. A Poke Bowl and a Fish Sandwich. Two orders of the parm tater tots arrived at our table quite quickly. Small orders I might add, there were about 13 tots in the bowl. Two other plates showed up in about 15 minutes, the melt and the fish sandwich. My melt came with fries. I guess she just charged my $4.95 for 13 tots. The lobster roll came in another 5 minutes or so, with, brussel sprouts and fries! The three of us picked gingerly at our food waiting for the last order, the poke bowl. Which took another almost 15 minutes to arrive! The service was weird, our food came out in intervals, and incorrectly. My melt was, mediocre. Honestly couldn't tell the different between the lobster and the lump crab in my melt. Was there any lobster? There was a lot of cheese. LOL! It was just not a good visit.

Ordered the Poke Bowl ($16) - very good portion size, good quality ingredients. Very flavorful, just make sure you grab a sauce for the rice, slap sauce is very good.

A nice meal for 3 in a very clean establishment with friendly staff. What kept me from adding a fifth star was the overcooked ahi tuna (in a bowl) and somewhat overcooked grilled fish (in fish and chips). The flavors were delicious and the presentation was appreciated. We will definitely be back (this was our second visit, previous one was 2-3 years ago.

Location was great, the ambiance was casual since there weren't too many people it wasn't noisy. I could see where if it was full with people it would be a noisy dining. It's the typical now-in-Day decor- open open, metal chairs, rustic board accent wall. Child review- Lobster grilled cheese was really good it a perfect amount of lobster and was perfectly stacked I love it it was yummy also the side salad was good with the sauce. I had fish and chips and fish I requested was salmon. It was a bit greasy and should probably gone with grilled. There weren't enough fries to go with my fish. The tartar sauce was really tasty. I also ordered a shrimp salad with fresh cucumbers, tasty cherry tomatoes, cabbage shreds, spinach and red onions with the shrimp. I should have stuck with only the shrimp salad.

In my opinion, Slapfish is a little overpriced for what you get. It is pretty decent but not somewhere I would go out of my way to go. I went the other night with a friend who was craving lobster and I ordered the fish and chips. My first mistake was ordering the larger size with two filets instead of one because the filets were much larger than I expected. Looking back, I should have known lol. The dipping sauce was fantastic though! Super good. The fish was good too, rather oily but that is usually the name of the game with fish and chips. The fries were somewhat undercooked though. I do love french fries and their fries would have been the perfect size because I like a medium thick fry, these were just too firm and a bit undercooked. I ordered a bottled rootbeer because I really wanted a soda and it was great. They have a really decent selection of sodas and even some local wines and beers. It is somewhere you can eat fast or hang out for a bit and I do appreciate their patio outfront.

I'll admit, I was impressed with the freshness and quality of the food at Slapfish! My wife and I had always wanted to pop in and try it and today was the day. Glad we made the decision. I had the power bowl and my wife had the fish-N-chips. We were both pleasantly surprised by the flavors, the textures and the overall service. Everything was cooked to perfection and brought out to our table in record time! We will be back to visit soon!

Do they have a kids menu?

Yes. I believe it had a grilled cheese option on it. There were two or three options but that is the only one I remember.

My three other dinner companions all thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I also enjoyed mine, which was a Seabass with a side of scallops (pan seared) and their crabcake. Seabass was excellent scallops were good. However, the crabcake, listed on the menu as lump crab meat crabcake, definitely was not a lump crap. I'm from the mid Atlantic. I know Chesapeake blue crab very well. It's a favorite of mine. I'm also familiar, having lived in New Mexico for 29 years, with Dungeness crab from the Gulf of Mexico. Dungeness is, if you don't know, very fine stringy crab meat. This is the direct opposite of lump crab meat, which consists of soft fleshy chunks of crab meat. I spoke with the manager at the end of our meal. I assured him that we all had a wonderful time and enjoyed our meals, except for the crabcake. I did explain to him the difference between lump crab and dungeoness crab, and that this was clearly dungeoness crabmeat in their crabcake. He was appropriately apologetic. He also talked about the fact that Seasons 52 on the East Coast has also on their menu the lump crab meat crabcake. I suggested it was more than likely that they actually were serving the LUMP crab meat on the East Coast, but they clearly were not serving it here in Albuquerque. He said he would pursue it with "corporate" and get it clarified. I share this with you for the simple reason that if you know the difference between dungeoness crab and lump crab mest from the Chesapeake Bay, though you're ordering lump crab meat that's not what you will be getting. With all of that said we have enjoyed Seasons 52 in Albuquerque for years, we enjoyed it for our 28th anniversary last night and I am quite certain we will continue to enjoy it in the future.

His glazed and grilled mahi tacos were savory and accompanied by a freshly dressed salad. My sesame grilled salmon was a gingered delight. I ordered it medium grilled as recommended, but can definitely appreciate that many would prefer it cooked well all the way through. How can anyone resist the large array of "just the right size" dessert temptations. Lori C, our highly skilled server, couldn't have been more charming. We're familiar with the southern CA location and found this establishment to be a top tier dining experience.
